《Exiled Aristocrat》Chapter 13: Evasion

“Thanks for the food.” I said while leaving the table.“I’ll be in the library.” I said to Maa, at which she acquiesced with a nod.
With that said and being acknowledged I went upstairs to the library direction.
Once I entered the library, I went to the secret room and came back with a seemingly light leather backpack, but the thud the bag made when I put it on the table seemed to indicate that the bag was much heavier than it looked.
I received this backpack earlier in the week. About 2 weeks ago, I ordered this backpack from the merchant, Since Maa was there, I was drowned with questions over why I needed a backpack.
The answer I gave her was simple.
It's not that I need a backpack, it's just that I want one.
It was a half-truth half-lie
After all, I do really need this backpack, but I could’ve done without it.
I then inspected the backpack content to check if I haven't forgotten anything.
“Okay everything is there, the operation can officially start.”
Today, I’m finally ready to go to the forest.
I’ve decided to go there after lunch. I'll try my luck when Matilda and the others are having lunch.
At first, I was hesitant whether to do it in the morning or the afternoon but in the end, I decided to choose the afternoon, first because I had more free time in the afternoon and also because the people at the manor are less active on the evening, I could even use the evening twilight is the perfect cover when I’ll return to the manor.
So here I am ready for my first expedition outside the manor domain, whether or not I will be able to pass through the barrier.
I put my backpack on and went to the library’s door and slowly opened it.
I peeked through the opening and saw that no one was around. I walked like a ghost, to the adjacent room which is the living room.

I obviously couldn’t use the doors nor the windows on the ground floor otherwise I would risk falling face to face with someone. So to leave the manor I had to use a rather unconventional exit: The living room’s windows.
I entered the living room and went straight to the windows. I opened them and looked over them.
Since there were no windows in the library, I had no other choice than to use the living room’s windows.
The living room windows overlooked the backyard of the mansion.
“Yep, as expected this is quite high.”
Well make sense since this room is on the second floor;
Theoretically, as long as I strengthen my le-no entire body with aina I should be safe.
Right?
Aaaaa~~
I have complete confidence in my ability to use aina but this is basically the first time I will willingly expose my body to danger.
In the library it’s a little bit complicated to gauge what level of damage my body strengthened with aina could take.
Well, there were various weapons in the secret room, but no matter how curious I was, even I ain't stupid enough to inflict self-harm on purpose just to determine what amount of damage my enhanced body could take.
Aaaaah~~~~
Let’s do this.
“Come on man, it's just a small jump, what are you cowering at!”
I left the window wide open and went to the opposite corner of the room.
I began to enhance every part of my body with aina.
My body was completely enhanced. I was ready for the big jump.
A man’s gotta do what a man’s gotta do.
I ran at full speed and took my leap.
Why did I run? I could’ve just jumped from the windows, am I?
Well, the answer was obvious: even if it means breaking your legs, you might as well do it with style.
I felt like running in the air (well it was technically what I was doing.) but it didn’t take long for gravity to notice that an extremely handsome mammal was trying to imitate birds.

Obviously, I fell.
And landed like a total badass.
It seemed my worries were for nothing.
Seeing that I wasn’t unharmed, I wasted no time and ran at full speed toward the fence.
This was basically the first time I’m running with my body fully enhanced so it was extremely fast and quite effortless but somewhat clumsy.
In no time I was getting closer and closer to the fence, now having seen what my enhanced body could handle, I didn’t slow down my speed. When reaching a distance of five-meter I jumped over the wall and landed perfectly on the other side of the wall.
A smirk smile slowly emerged on my face.
The first part of the plan went off without a hitch.
I only have the second part of the plan left.
Hehe Just kidding.
There is no more plan, from here it all depends on luck.
Whether or not I will manage to pass through the barrier, it all depends on how the barrier works.
I didn’t have any belt like the one Syrus had back when he was still in the legion.
I basically came here betting everything on the possibility that maybe nobles don't need any special item to pass through the barrier.
I took a deep inspiration and looked over the forest.
There were no tall trees yet where I stood, after all this place wasn’t considered a part of the forest yet, but not so far away, around 100m further from where I was, I could see giant trees towering in the sky.
Not wanting to waste any more of my precious time, I ran toward the forest.
After a few while, I finally reached a place that can only be the outskirts of the forest.
Only a few meters separate the place where I stand and the forest, and in these few meters was the famous barrier.
From the manor, I couldn’t see the barrier at all, but from where I stood I clearly saw what the barrier looked like.
Syrus has described the barrier as transparent but for me, it looked more like a water-like wall, it spread all along the forest outskirts after a certain distance it became completely invisible. Occasionally I could see the surface weakly oscillating.
Being curious about how the barrier worked, I threw a rock on it, the rock bounced on the barrier like it would bounce on a stone wall.
The rock didn’t seem to take any form of damage.
I already knew from the book and Syrus that the barrier was harmless, but as the saying goes “better safe than sorry.”
I reached over the barrier with my left hand. When my hand was about to reach the surface of the barrier my entire arm was engulfed by the watery surface.
Being taken aback by what happened I immediately withdrew my arm, and as soon as I removed my hand from the barrier, it resumed its previous appearance.
I looked over my arm, there was no injury at all.
“ I guess it’s a go then.”
Now completely convinced that the barrier was completely harmless.
I went head first onto the barrier and as soon as I did my body was completely engulfed, it only lasted a moment but my body was invaded by a strange sensation, like being underwater yet not drowning thus my eyes instinctively shut.
Before I could even feel bothered by the strange sensation, it just stopped.
When I opened I wasn’t inside the barrier anymore, I was outside.
In short, I've left the human continent, I am now stepping on the monster continent.
“So this is the most dangerous place in this world huh ... from now this place will be my play-cough cough training ground.”

Game Dungeon
A recently deceased man finds himself imprisoned in a prismatic gem, confused and missing pieces of his memory he wishes to play video games, but to his horror, he is stuck in a world of sword and magic. Hello! I am the writer of Game Dungeon thanks for your feedback! Although my intentions were not to insult the reader I can see how someone would think that way. I have no plans to change it as of now and it's better to put it out there as a warning that I use a lot of words with similar meanings but are used very irregularly. Honestly speaking my English teacher was weird and a lot of words I use are more complicated than they need to be, but again something I was drilled into was not reusing words apart from "I".
