《Raccoon's Treasure》18. Like a dandelion

Lisa groaned as she brushed out the knots out of her brown hair in anger. 'Why am I the only one dealing with this.' She thought as she threw her brush away. 'As if dealing with myself isn't enough. Why does my hair even matter? Damn you Brie and Blanca.'
"Why do I have to wear the glasses, you should wear them." She scoffed to the reflection in the mirror in a chirpy tone, hips cocked and arm lifted in a mocking gesture.
"Because I am the real one of course." She laughed contemptuously at the mirror image. "We have to be distinguishable. Who asked you to look like me."
She sighed as she walked towards the wardrobe, pulling out a dark brown and green striped turtleneck sweater and, for her taste, a much too short skirt. "Oh look at me I am the boss, ladida you got to wear what I say you'll wear." She squeaked mockingly in a higher pitched tone while getting dressed.
"If you are done acting like the clown you are, get moving." Her mirror image interrupted her tirade to her chagrin. Looking towards the source of the voice, she realized it was just herself standing in the door. 'The same soulful deep green eyes, able to stare into the parts of your soul you weren't aware of before. The same brown hair, the same body with just the right amount of curves. And the same long legs..-'
"Are you done gawking at me? Now get going, you have places to be. God I wish this ability wasn't so annoyingly restricted." Her face scowled at her as she moved her features to reflect the same expression.
"Of course, it's always Pasta do this, Lala do that. Nobody ever allows me to take a break. Why are you the only one allowed to eat sweets, Brie. Just like.. throw me a bone, give me some money to get some ice cream at least." She whined as she put on her best puppy begging face.
"Ugh, you know what? Fine. Fine. Here." Brie sighed as she pushed a few copper coins into her hands. Quickly snatching them away before she'd regret her decision, she passed by her and ran out of the house. "Thaaaanks, love ya! Ex oh Ex oh, see you later!" She giggled as she pushed open the door to the outside, slamming it shut with just a little bit more vigor than needed.

She skipped along the barky road, greeting passersby cheerfully, a smile blooming on her face whenever someone returned her greetings. The weather was mild.
'Like usual.' She noted, as a warm breeze ruffled her hair and the sun warmed her skin. People in all kinds of sizes and forms were milling about as she passed by a clockwork tower.
'With so many different buildings bunched up and mixed up it's always hard to keep going the right way.' She thought, brows slightly scrunched up in concentration. 'Clockwork tower number one?' Looking over the massive tower, giving off gentle rattling sounds as the gears it's built out of seemed to be in perpetual movement. 'There! Green triangle gear!' She cheered internally, orienting herself anew and walking towards the northern exit of the town.
She swung her legs about as she sat on a bench near the town's exit. A bag made out of silky material she couldn't identify, full of different colored square jello sat next to her as her only companion. Peoplewatching with sweet treats was better than just following silly orders.
She turned her head back to the gates as a group of people entered the city. She wondered you could even call them gates since they were always open and never seemed to close.
It was always easy to spot first timers, even the ones able to control their facial features. It was even easier when most of the group had their eyes almost bulging out, gawking at everything like children in a candy store.
Plopping a piece of jello in her mouth, she hopped off the bench and walked towards them. Her gut was telling her those were the people she was sent to get. With a friendly smile and one handed wave she started talking. "Hai hai, you seem like you are new. Want me to show you around?"
Five heads, four human and one bird, turned towards her. "You can find anything you ever desired in this city!" She came to a stop before them, furrowing her brows and looking between her bag with sweets and the new group. With a pained look she continued talking.
"I-I could share my treat with you guys, but only one! As a greeting." If anyone asked her later, she would deny having whined.
"That's alright, miss. It's already nice enough for you to greet some strangers like this." The muscular guy said in a calming toke of voice, patting his shield once. "If you could show us to a safe place first so we can put down our comrade so he can rest?"

Her body vibrated in place, be it because she'd keep all her treats for herself or being of help to others. She giddily stepped forward. "Of course! I don't know many places. This city seems to be changing and expanding daily! But I remember a nice granny who let me stay over once."
With a skip in her step she led the group through the streets. "Almost there! You see those flashy lights? The deep humming of the music?"
"That's some weird nightclub." She heard a female voice talk behind her. "The granny works in a nightclub?"
Without turning around, she continued walking as they reached a crossroad in front of the club. "Well, it's a landmark? It's hard to remember things when they change so often." She pointed towards the left road, where a young lady clad in magical robes was nervously hitting a giant of a man, more machine than man.
"G-get off of grannie's lawn you.. you rascal!" They heard a teary voice say in-between soft pats of a broom.
"Is that normal?" The same female voice asked curiously.
"Well, usually it's the grannies telling people to get off their lawn. Maybe they decided to prepare their nieces? Maybe it's training?" She shrugged, walking up to the nervous witch. She patted her shoulder and gave her a confident nod. "You can do this."
She watched as she rubbed away the tears in her eyes and continued with renewed vigor. "Useless youngling doing nanites in the middle of the day!"
They passed by her with silent club music and soft thwacks as their background music, reaching a tiny house, half molten into a tree with purple roots covering it's roof. She gingerly knocked on the door as everyone waited, finally turning around to look over the group that followed her like ducklings.
"Why do I feel like you are one less person than when we met?" She said, shaking her head as the door opened. An old lady with the gentlest of smiles ushered them in. "Come in, girly, come in, sonny. Food is almost ready."
"Thanks gran, maybe we'll eat something later? We just came by real quick to allow one of their teammates to rest while I show them around town. You guys wait here, I'll show her where to put him." Giving the grandma a sideways hug, she pulled on the cloak of the person carrying an unconscious guy.
They came down the stairs to see a blonde girl awkwardly sitting alone at the table, as the gentle witch pushed more and more food on her plate. "Huh.. so it's only you two left?" She looked behind her real quick just to make sure.
"I don't know when Ray disappeared, but like, John said he has something important to do and just like.. left." The girl pouted. "I'm Kelly and the one behind you is Evergreen! Maybe you can show me and her around at least?"
"I think I'd like that! I'm Lisa." She grinned. "Maybe we can get Evergreen some new clothes? Something less masky and cloaky?" They giggled as the old lady started building a second tower of food next to Kelly's first pile.
"Gran, please! I like, I just can't eat so much!"
The sun was slowly setting, as three girls tried to walk off all the food they were forced to eat. 'Nobody can deny grandma's goodwill.' She shook her head as lanterns of different makes lit up along the side of the streets. Glowing magical crystals, giant fireflies, billboards made out of millions of tiny light bulbs, competed with the sun, trying to outshine each other.
"Where would you like to go?" She asked, looking at her two new friends.
"I'm fine with just taking a walk for today, maybe look for stuff to do tomorrow?" The more talkative of the two answered, while the other just shrugged.
Deciding to go with her gut feeling, she proudly raised her arm holding the bag of sweets towards the horizon. "Then follow me! I shall guide you on the coziest walk you've ever-" Her sentence ended in a squawk as someone pushed past her, jumping up and swiftly grabbing her bag before taking off into an alley. Before she could even gather her bearings, the other two took off after the thief.
'I knew it would end like that, but I'd have loved to spend some more time with them.' She whined internally, pouting and stretching her arms towards the sky. 'Mission accomplished, time to go home.'
She took out another bag, unharmed and filled with sweets, popping another jello only to remember how full she was.

However, there are several moments that are extremely violent. I've always loved shows/movies such as, (The Expanse, The Boys, Banshee, Kingdom of heaven, Vikings, Attack on Titan, Baccano, etc.) I am descriptive of the scenes with violence. So be warned :) I've worked long and hard and have finally finished my third draft. Still needs work but everything storywise is complete. There are still a few things I need to add and tweak. Grammatical errors and flushing out the characters and dialogue still needs work. If you see any errors or plot holes, please feel free to point them out. It helps me improve upon the story.
