XG 55 - Nothing worthy to see
One of the zombies boldly stuffed its head into the gap and took a bite from the police’s arm. The officer that was bitten knew his demise and randomly shot without care, spending all his bullets but failing to hit even one zombies’ heart.
With his partner being bitten, the officer beside him was terrified. So terrified that he stepped onto the pedal and sent the car to hit an electric pole. Luckily, the driver had not pressed the gas pedal hard, or else the damage would have been bigger.
“The driver might still be alive,” Chen Yibo commented worriedly, judging from the damage shown on the screen.
“Can you zoom in?” Lan Yan suddenly asked, her face expressing interest and Ta Kei obeyed.
“Fuck, is that the monster baby from the Sui family?” Brother Lam, who had also joined them in watching, asked after the screen was zoomed in.
There was a small spot that was moving towards the car crash. More accurately, it was the baby zombie that was crawling rather fast in the middle of the road, following behind the other zombies on their quest to increase the number of their family members.
The police officers in the second car were smarter after seeing the first car meet their demise and used their car to flatten the zombies. But of course, the strong zombies would not make the police officer’s life easier. Their aggressive body-slamming had successfully cracked the windows. It won’t take long for the glass to break completely.
The only zombie their car managed to flatten was the poor baby zombie.
“Zoom in there too.” Lan Yan pointed in another direction.
“What do you want to see?” Ta Kei adjusted the camera.
“Towards the crashed car, focus on the driver. I want to see his ending,” Lan Yan casually said, as if watching a person’s death was normal.
“...Nothing worthy to see,” Ta Kei rejected and expanded the lens again.
“Tsk.” Lan Yan clicked her tongue but no longer insisted.
Wong Xue Guo’s face was neutral but her heart screamed, ‘Thank you, brother Ta Kei!’

She does not want to see but was afraid to offend Lan Yan if she moved away from her viewing spot.
In the end, it was the military that came to settle things down. They shoot straight at the zombies’ hearts without wasting a bullet, clearly knowing their weakness. Just like that, all five zombies were dealt with, including the two poor police officers that were infected.
When Penang Island’s phone and internet line was restored, the first thing the residents shared to their social media was the small zombie incident. Lok Hui Man was overjoyed that the communication was back online, not knowing who it was that helped her resolve this problem.
Her supplier must have thought the deal was off when the communication line was suddenly cut off and she had to hurriedly reaffirm their agreement.
The zombie incident was dangerous and Lok Hui Man was glad it was contained quickly. But this incident also helped her restrain those people from the outside that wanted to seek refuge from Penang Island. Those people would start thinking that Penang Island, the safe haven, was actually not that safe either.
While it frightened outsiders, it also frightened the residents. So much, that they demand their island not to accept any more outsiders, not even if they were the resident’s family members. As long as they do not know their family member reached the island and demand entry, they could still pretend they were surviving somewhere else.
Even the soldiers agreed and became more stringent in their patrol around the border.
“It’s good that civilians volunteered to help the soldiers in patrolling. With everyone helping, the soldiers’ energy would not thin out.”
Lok Hui Man’s finger tapping paused at her brother-in-law’s words. She had been adamant in refusing the Sui family to enter, but it was her brother-in-law that insisted on it. He even got her parents and sister to speak for him and Lok Hui Man’s voice became a minority.
And now her brother-in-law tried to sound as if he was not the one that caused this problem? It would be alright if they accept the Sui family, but why was the checking so sloppy!

Even if Lok Hui Man was furious, she could not scold him. He had too much connection and was one of the top party members that aided her. If she does anything, her brother-in-law would be offended and pull away his support.
“Hui Man, I remember you are looking out for someone to allow them in.” Her brother-in-law suddenly raised the sensitive issue.
Clenching her fist, Lok Hui Man answered, “Suzie Yap, one of the top ten charities giver in the world. She will be very helpful to our cause.”
“We must not let her in,” One of the senior party members voiced his opinion loudly. What makes things worse was others joining in with an unyielding attitude.
Their tough refusal could not be blamed, as their previously soft hearts had resulted in letting an infected slip into their island. If it was not for the anonymous call warning them in time, it might have been too late to stop the spreading.
“Even if we are lacking funds, our lives are more important.”
“We already have enough food, and we can grow vegetables ourselves. We just had to be patient and spend wisely during the early months while we waited for the harvest.”
“Right. Maybe even before our food runs out, the cure might have been found.”
Lok Hui Man smiled, hiding her scorn. “Of course our food is enough. We had purchased food first. Then next is medicine. And last is weapons. We had already purchased as much food and medicine as we could. What we are lacking now is arm power. How can we protect ourselves without weapons?”
“We do not need heavy-duty weapons. We have secluded ourselves from the outside world and it will keep us safe. We just need to wait for the vaccine to be created by the big countries.”
“What happens when we get attacked before the vaccine is out? Other states had been trying to get into Penang island and they might use any method to force their entry,” Lok Hui Man questioned sharply. “Not to mention humans, what about those monsters? We do not know where the virus comes from or how many ways it could be spread. Weapons are important as our protection. Even if the vaccine is out, how long will it take to reach our hands?”
“As long as we have something sharp, it’s considered as a weapon. Even a chair could be considered a weapon if used well. Madam Lok, do not raise fear unnecessarily. Our funds should be used in the right place.”
“Hui Man is just worried for everyone’s safety. She has worked hard to ensure we have everything we need, so please do not make it difficult for her.” Her brother-in-law spoke out for her.
The members changed their expressions, trying to look understanding. “Of course, we understand Madam Lok’s thoughts. We are just trying to help.”
Her brother-in-law turned his smiling face to her. “Hui Man, if you are that concerned, you can ask Suzie Yap’s daughter and husband to donate some money. They are here, right?”
Lok Hui Man paused for a moment. “I have asked them before, and their condition is to have Suzie Yap enter the island. I could not change their mind.”
“Then you must not have used the right method.”
Lok Hui Man’s expression changed. “What are you trying to do?”
“They need a gentle reminder of their responsibility as a resident of Penang Island. You have been rather generous in letting her husband and daughter in. They should not be greedy for more.”
“Madam Lok, everyone is watching our movement,” a senior member reminded. “The other party will pull us down once they catch onto our mistake. We have already made a mistake and it was because we won their hearts after agreeing with the separation of the states that everyone is willing to give us a second chance. Don’t ruin it.”
Her brother-in-law sighed. “If you think it’s rather harsh to tell them, I will discuss it with them on our behalf.”
Lok Hui Man stared at her ‘helpful’ brother-in-law. “No need. I will speak to them.”
And so, she found herself in the Wong Villa a few hours later.

The Cosmic Interloper
Synopsis: A cyborg transhuman escapes her corporate indenture and through unfathomably unlikely circumstances, she ends up in a fantasy world of full of unique magic, angry people with sharp implements, and the whole flavor-spectrum of divine entities. Hilarity ensues. Features: - No blue boxes or cultivation, this is not a LitRPG nor about martial arts - Hard-ish Sci-Fi meets hard-ish magic - Generally trying to keep this "rational" Rationale: My primary goal with The Cosmic Interloper is to write something that I myself would enjoy reading. Of course, that’s not the only motivation, but I think it’s the most important one for me to keep in mind, especially as the author. In fact, this whole story came about because after consuming oodles of fiction, I found myself craving a very specific type of story which I couldn’t find many examples of. Then I asked myself, “why not write it myself?” and here we are. Disclaimer: In general, while I’m not writing a comedy, I do intend for this story to be funny and a bit wacky or absurd. That said though, I am using this story as a vehicle to explore some potentially dark topics including (but not limited to) slavery, speciesism/racism, and existential questions of self, consciousness, and identity. Still, I’m going to leave the “traumatizing content” tags off, because I don’t feel that what I’ve written so far (or plan on writing) exceeds the threshold that would be necessary for me to tag it thusly. Also, [insert your favorite boilerplate “views expressed” disclaimer here]. I shouldn’t need to say this, but the main character can be wrong on occasion (gasp!) and the way she views the world is not the objective truth (if such a thing even exists).

Humanity's End
Given a year to prepare by the mysterious ‘system’ for contact with the wider galaxy, humanity must work to ensure the Earth’s defense is ready to meet any challenge. Sadly, most of the world seems dedicated to tearing itself apart as the year-end deadline gets closer. The west is in barely contained Chaos, while the east descends into internal conflict and war. The Pillar Forts, one of the few successful projects of the United Nations headed by the United States, stand ready to defend humanity against any invasion that may come through the strange Connection Pillars that appeared on each continent. Massive steel and stone walls that surround the Connection Pillars. They are filled with deadly men and women trained in all manner of warfare, each trained in the newly acquired System with skills and magical abilities that they put to deadly purpose. Beside these brave warriors, tanks, helicopters, artillery and more stand ready to defend humanity at each of these powerful installations. But, can they overcome the disparity in levels and experience between themselves and the forces that threaten them and the rest of humanity? Main Characters Jessica Brown- A young African American girl. Her 18th birthday in Detroit was the same day the systems message appeared. She discovered she was Level 7, much higher than most of the rest of the world. Why she is blessed, or cursed, with the power she doesn’t know. But what she does know is that she rather likes the feeling that comes with manipulating magic. The week after her birthday, government workers started testing every person in the US in a massive census effort of skills and abilities. Jessica Brown found herself conscripted into the US Magical Corp, a new branch of the US Military, and shipped off to a Pillar Fort. Somewhere hot and muggy in her ancestors’ home of Africa. As she grows stronger, she finds she has some connection to the pillars. While everyone else sees beauty or danger when they look at the pillars, after connection is made all Jessica can see is a Tree. A tree the size of the entire universe. Isaka Smith - is a third generation American and farmer who just wants to be left alone. But she is dragged into the situation by events beyond her control. When people in her small town had to deal with rioters and looters after the system announcement, she rallied them to defend themselves, earning her a trait that the government found extraordinarily useful. After a visit to a local reservation, she finds herself conscripted to lead one of the many small support towns erected around the great pillar forts. Not near her old home, but in far-flung Africa. John McIntire, the “Fighting Bull” -The commander of the African Fort, but because of circumstances beyond his ability to contend with shortly after taking command after being re-activated from retirement, he finds communication with his chain of command increasingly difficult. The US government, hell, even the United Nations, seems to have fallen into complete and utter chaos. The African Union is embroiled in a bitter civil war just outside his door, and supposedly, most of the world governments are in similar situations. Meanwhile, John must do his best to be ready to facilitate diplomacy, or to match the hostile argument of whatever force might come through the pillar of light when the year timer finishes counting down. Can our heros defend Earth from outside threats, while it tares itself apart? Or will they need to rebuild from the ground up? DEDICATION: This story is dedicated to my father who passed away recently. Jim Holloway, you’ll be missed you old silverback gorilla. Love you dad. Always have, always will.

Tale of the mage hero [Completed]
so I've been into rising of the shield hero for a while now... a lot of things about it ALWAYS bugged me starting with the fact that the world functions like a game and the heroes are supposed to fight together in a party.... BUT WHERE'S THE ARCHMAGE?! THE BLATANT DISRESPECT TO THE MAGE CLASS IS REAL AND ANGERING! so I decided as a gamer who rather enjoys being a mage and healer, I'd rectify that. and other things. for all intents and purposes this is a self insert but I will be using my proxy OC that I use in my nutty fangirl daydreams. DON'T WORRY! I'M NERFING MY PROXY! this will follow the plot of the anime because..... I want to. and I'm..... LAZY~! and using the manga is too much trouble and the light novel is 800+ chapters long. So FUCK THAT! anyways if you read this and think it's lackluster then I want to see you try your hand at writing tate no yuusha fics! no that's not a challenge or insult it's just a desperate plea for more tate fics... we need some more variety! Alright I'm gonna be honest here. This story is laughably bad. So read at your own risk. The only reason I'm not revising it is because 1 I'm Lazy as fuck and 2 to serve as a lesson on what NOT to do for new writers. So like I said, read at your own risk.
