《Light of Returning Darkness》CH 117 – Nine Levels Heaven Suppression Force (2)

Once Feng Luotian gave a command, nine layers of magic circles descended upon He Chen one after another.
When the first layer at the bottom hit He Chen, all defense instantly crumbled. His knees dropped to the floor. He Chen tried his hardest to resist but to no avail. Cold sweat soaked his whole body as a chilling sensation creeped out from within.
The second layer dropped down. He Chen’s entire body crashed on the ground with blood seeping out from every pore on his being. The feeling of death already seemed to be within his reach.
The third layer turned He Chen into meat paste amongst the blood puddle. There was no longer any sign of life coming out of it. Soon, that pile of meat and blood disappeared from the arena.
One layer after another continued to descend with the suppressive force stronger than the last.
He Chen had already resurrected in the waiting area and was in time to witness the destructive force of the last three layers. There was no angry nor regret in his eyes, only mesmerization by the grandness of the [Nine Levels Heaven Suppression Force].
The arena, which all elders of Peacock School were confident that even the Wing Realm Masters would not be able to leave a scratch on it, was drilled into a big hole about a thousand meters deep.
Everyone within the Colosseum had their jaws dropped down, enough to fit two or three eggs at the same time.
While everyone was astonished by his show, Feng Luotian’s inside was literally chaos.
[Nine Levels Heaven Suppression Force] was a combination technique between an advanced formation and TRUTH. This combination technique could only be used when cultivators reached Wing Realm together with the second realm of TRUTH. Using it before reaching those realms would leave serious damage on one’s soul core, causing their cultivation to stagnate and may leave a permanent scar on their talent and growth.
Of course, Feng Luotian understood this fact completely. However, he was confident that Kronos’s bloodline was above that rule. The only effect would be overly exhausting Theríon that gave him a serious internal injury, but he would be fine after walking out of here since he was in the [Ultimate Battle Formation]. That was why he took advantage of showing those planning in the dark to think twice before becoming his enemies.
After Feng Luotian rechecked his status in Kronos to confirm that there was nothing wrong with his stat, he puked out some blood caused by the backlash, put He Chen’s rapier into his spatial ring, and dug his heart out to be fully resurrected like before.

It took the crowd for a while before they returned to what they were doing previously. But even so, the image of nine magic circles looming in the sky and the scene where they turned a human into meat paste would forever stay in their minds.
Now, the disciples and the elders, including those at the Wing Realm, were all afraid of Feng Luotian.
Second Elder was shivering from head to toes when he woke up to the reality, thinking that he must report this to the Sikong Clan as soon as possible. Mo Qianqing nearly pissed himself from fear.
On the other hand, First Elder did not have any reaction to this, except being surprised by Feng Luotian’s means. He was much older than Second Elder. As he had weathered many storms, he knew that even if this technique seemed too impressive to speak of, it would not have any effect in the grand schemes.
Looking at how Feng Luotian vomited the blood after using it, he would not be able to cast that move again and again repeatedly. And with only that area of effect? The technique was only good for a single-target assassination and nothing more.
Never would First Elder anticipate that, in fact, this technique could be used in a variety of ranges and areas of effect. Depending on how one used the technique, one could obliterate the entire army with the span of several square kilometers. The only problem with this technique was its heavy burden upon the soul core and its excessive Theríon consumption if you reached the required realm of cultivations and TRUTH.
When resurrected at the waiting area, Feng Luotian walked toward He Chen and returned his rapier. He smiled and said: “How was it? Did you get anything from that move, Brother He?”
He Chen shook his head in shame: “Not at all, Brother Feng. I’m only in awe and helpless before such a technique. If you can teach it to me, that’s a different matter entirely. Hahaha!”
Feng Luotian nodded: “If you get into Wing Realm, I’ll teach it to you.”
“Really?!” He Chen did not expect Feng Luotian to share this technique with him because people would normally keep such a powerful move as a secret as their trump card, not flaunting it around like this.
Feng Luotian chuckled at his reaction: “Don’t get too excited. You seem to be very confident in becoming a Wing Realm Master, huh?”
He Chen was taken aback by the jab, feeling a little down: “Oh? I guess I’m a little overexcited. With my talent, I don’t think I can become one after all.”

Feng Luotian comforted: “Don’t worry. With me here, you will become one soon enough.”
He Chen nodded. Even though he was not confident in himself, he was confident in Feng Luotian that Feng Luotian could do anything he said. Nonetheless, he could not help but ask again: “Will you really teach me if I become a Wing Realm Master?”
Feng Luotian: “I’ve said it. So, work hard and become a Wing Realm Master before I leave this city.”
“Before you leave this city?!” He Chen was confused at first but soon realized that, with Feng Luotian’s talent, there was no way he would stay at this lowly place. He would ascend to a higher world like his father, the God.
On the other arenas, apart from Luotian’s dominating party, there were still some distinct and promising individuals who performed exceptionally well by defeating all of their opponents for seventeen rounds straight.
Five of them were the former Feathers whose cultivations were either Ten Fangs or One Talon. With their age and battle experience, being the former Feathers could guarantee their victories against any average cultivators.
Another four were the Han brothers: Han Wen / Han Qing, and the Mo brothers: Mo Chen / Mo Guo. If everyone could remember, they were ranked at 12th place and 14th place respectively in the entrance exam. Han Wen and Han Qing even got enough points to pass the exam and not take the extra talent test.
One thing to be mentioned was these Mo brothers came from the same family as Mo Qianqing, so Second Elder also took them under his wings. While the Han brothers had more talents, the Mo brothers enjoyed more privileges and resources from the Alchemy Center, making them soar in cultivations at the same rate as the Han.
In this past month, all four of them reached Seven Fangs; together with their special bloodlines and powerful skills, they could defeat even those Nine Fangs Fighters.
Because Arena 1 had two Head Grabbing Demons, their pace was quite fast due to their opponent’s quick death or prompt surrender. Area 1 had already finished their Nineteenth round, yet, in the other arenas, they had just started the Eighteenth round.
On the eighteenth battle of the Preliminary Round, Sun Wuji versus Mo Chen on Arena 3, Mei Yue’er versus Han Wen on Area 5, Tu Lingxi versus Han Qing on Arena 6. As for Mo Guo, he faced Ying Lizhua on Arena 3.
Sun Wuji walked onto the stage facing Mo Chen.
Mo Chen immediately taunted: “To win seventeen rounds straight as I am. It is expected of God’s Son’s sworn brother and the third-ranking in the entrance exam. However, since you have to face me, your streak ends here! I may be weaker than you last month, but I’ve grown strong enough to take you down after Second Elder gave me the resources. As for God’s Son, he won’t be arrogant for too long. Brother Qianqing will beat him to a pulp.”
Stroking his chin while thinking, Sun Wuji nodded: “Mhm. That confirms it. Everyone related to Second Elder is stupid beyond cure. Didn’t you see that imperious technique Brother Feng just used? If Mo Qianqing can still stay calm after seeing that move, then I’ll walk backward from now on. Maybe he’s already wet himself from whatever he’s thinking right now.”
“You!! How dare you insult Brother Qianqing!”
Mo Chen balled his hands into fists and activated his bloodline ability [Muscle Burst]: Activating the ability will drastically increase the user in their next attack. However, the user’s damage output would plummet by 80% for the next ten seconds. He planned to take Sun Wuji down in one hit as he did with other contestants thus far. His arm’s muscles rapidly grew in size until both of his arms became even larger than his body.
Against the incoming onslaught, Sun Wuji turned his top half to stone and activated a defensive skill: “[Shield of Earth]!” His entire arm transformed into a thick square shield made of stone about his body length. Sun Wuji swung and placed it in front of him, shielding the incoming attack.
Mo Chen sneered: “That kind of defense is nothing before my attack!” After jumping into the air, Mo Chen roared: “Eat this, Sun Wuji! [Muscle Bazooka]!” It was another attack damage boosting skill depending on one’s muscles to increase his damage output to another level.
Following a resounding crash was complete stillness and silence, as Sun Wuji’s [Shield of Earth] barely had any crack on it.
Mo Chen could not accept the result, staggering backward for a few steps before saying in a trembling voice: “T-This is impossible!”
Sun Wuji commented: “This is what it means by the difference in the foundation. You must have used a lot of resources to quickly increase your cultivation and forgot to pay attention to your foundation. Your early-stage Seven Fangs cultivation is practically the same as being Six Fangs. It is a miracle that you have won all the battles prior to this. [Spear of Earth]!”

Life of a Core
After a disembodied voice had told him he was what amounted to an exceptionally talented rock, it had been hard to not let it go to his non-existent head. Until, random chance had decided to give him a square kick in the minerals. Which had in turn forced him to fend for himself in an unknown land, all while he attempted to make sense of his place in the world. Truthfully though, all he had really wanted to do from the start had been to bury himself a hundred feet below the ground and be left to his own devices. Yet, for one reason or another, nobody ever seemed willing to leave the dungeon-building core alone long enough to actually make one. Each chapter will average around two to three thousand words, the release schedule is still a WIP but you should expect the first six chapters to be released over the next six days. This is planned out as a dungeon building fiction, but don't expect it right off the bat! The story is a depiction of the everyday adventures (alongside an overarching plot) of what I imagine a dungeon core would experience when thrust into a random environment where everything and everyone tried to covet or eat him. I also really enjoy reading the comments and reviews people leave and would love to get some reader involvement with the story itself, likely through polls at the end of each chapter. I hope you enjoy my story! (If you feel like some of the characters seem familiar, you may have read some older work I wrote a while back under a different account. If you happen to be one of my old readers and recognize the similarities, I'm happy to have you back!)

For now i will publish small chapters for i am not very confident in this, but as i write more and gain some experience i will release longer and better ones. Also English isn't my mother language so any advice or correction is welcomed.
