《Light of Returning Darkness》CH 107 – Second and Third Feather

More than three hundred disciples assembled at the Peacock Garden to register for the Feather Ranking Competition.
No matter how low their cultivation bases were, they would try to participate in this competition.
Why?
Even though you could not make it to the Ten Feathers, this was another chance to present your talent in front of all school elders. If you performed beautifully, there was a high possibility that these elders would directly take you as one of their disciples.
Entering the Peacock School did not mean that you would have a master to teach and take care of you. You had to impress one of these elders to get the chance to enter their tutelages and have a bright future in front of you.
That was why pretty much all of the disciples within the Peacock School would be joining this Feather Ranking Competition.
As for Feng Luotian and co., their masters were already elders, if not someone with an equivalent or higher status, so they were there to try and beat some of the Feathers.
When they reached the Peacock Garden, the rest of the disciples had already finished with their registrations. They lingered there to discuss the following competition, meaning that they arrived much sooner than Feng Luotian and co.
Their fault so slow in receiving the news was probably because their masters, Supreme Elder and Peacock Lady, did not bother telling and teaching them anything and let them do as they wanted. If not for He Chen that came and notified them about this assembly, they would be clueless to the end of the day and missing this registration meeting.
Feng Luotian’s party quickly proceed with their registration in front of the garden.
When Feng Luotian’s eyes lay upon the list of the participants, he saw Wei Ci’s name at the very first of the list.
Feng Luotian asked the school officer: “I’m sorry. Do you remember the first disciple that came to register? Is he still inside the garden?”
The school official took a glance at the name, trying to recall it. After he remembered the guy who came to register first, the school official said: “Oh, I remember. He came but left right after, not even care about the assembly.”
“I see. Thank you.” Feng Luotian nodded.
Sun Wuji, the next in the line, asked: “What’s wrong, Brother Feng?”
“Brother Wei was the first to register, see?” Feng Luotian pointed at Wei Ci’s name on the list.
Sun Wuji looked at the name and became surprised as well: “I thought the guy had already lost his life somewhere because I haven’t seen him since the exam. Is he inside?”

Feng Luotian answered: “No. The officer said that he left right after he finished with the registration.”
Sun Wuji exclaimed: “What the?! Does he hate us and try to avoid meeting with us?”
Feng Luotian only shook his head at his brother’s comment.
After the registration was complete, they walked into the Peacock Garden to join the rest of the disciples.
This Peacock Garden was usually where the school raised plants and herbs to be used in alchemy and healing, so obviously, the department managing this place was the alchemy center.
The Peacock Garden spanned many acres of medicinal flowers, weeds, grasses, and trees, making it scenic and colorful. Today, the school arranged a particular area within the Peacock Garden to be an assembling space for the disciples, and if one found and favored one of the herbs within this specific area, they could take it back home with one piece of herb per person.
The event detail was explained to everyone who finished their registration to enjoy the assembly here at the Peacock Garden.
Once Feng Luotian and co entered the garden, their presence drew much attention from the crowds inside the botanical field.
There is no need to mention God’s Son and Goddess. The rest of the team got high rankings in the prior entrance exam and eventually became the school elders’ disciples. Although the previous generation did not recognize them, everyone at that exam who passed the second test, proposed by Feng Luotian, had already imprinted these faces and names into their minds. They would not be able to forget them even if they tried.
Looking around the place, Feng Luotian noticed that while most of the students were searching for some valuable herbs, some of them was not interested in this event, staying on the sidelines and talking to each other as if it was a social party.
Feng Luotian recognized two of those people: Ying Lizhua and Xiu Yao. They were standing with two others garbed in white, one man and one woman.
Although they were of different genders, their faces looked incredibly similar to each other. One could instantly tell that they were twins.
They both were in a clean and white garment. The man garbed in a gentlemanly robe while the woman wore a lady-like dress. And while their faces were not blessed with good looks, their decent demeanor could still attract those of opposite genders to admiration.
From their aura, Feng Luotian guessed that they were also amongst the Ten Feathers, if not the top three. He quickly approached them to introduce him and get to know them better.

But when Feng Luotian walked away from the plant field, Tu Lingxi immediately called him: “Big Brother Feng! Are you not going to pick the herb?”
Feng Luotian shook his head: “It is fine. You guys can have fun with the event. After finding the herb you want, come and find me later.” With that, he headed straight to where Xiu Yao was.
As a matter of fact, Feng Luotian had already scanned every medicinal resource within the Peacock Garden. Feng Luotian did not wish to say this out loud, but the levels of these resources were far too low for him to put them to any use. He did not want to spoil the fun and offend someone as a result either, so he decided just to let them enjoy the event while trying to collect data about the Ten Feathers in the meantime.
The rest of the team looked at each other and went separate ways to choose some herb for their own benefit.
When Feng Luotian approached the group of four, he could hear Xiu Yao talking nonstop, while the other three closed their eyes and tried to ignore the guy completely. Feng Luotian felt the scene to be hilarious and pitiful at the same time.
The moment Xiu Yao noticed Feng Luotian walking toward them, he was overjoyed and loudly called his junior: “Oh! Isn’t it Junior Brother Feng? So, you have come to participate in the Feather Ranking Competition as well?! Welcome to the assembly! Come, come, I will introduce you to ….”
“Hello, God’s Son. Nice to meet you. My name is He Zhan.”
“Hello, God’s Son. Nice to meet you. My name is He Chuan.”
Before Xiu Yao could finish his long sentence, both of them introduced themselves while cupping their hands, afraid that Xiu Yao said anything unnecessary to ruin Feng Luotian’s first impression of them.
Name: He Zhan
Level: Three Talons
Bloodline: Grey Beak Rapier Heron
Bloodline Ability: Piercing Focus
Upon receiving Theríon from other cultivators, the next attack’s damage will be increased by the Theríon increment percentage.

After checking the information for a few seconds, Feng Luotian promptly cupped his hand and greeted them both: “Nice to meet you too. I guess you already know my name; I will skip that part. Would you mind me asking a couple of questions?”
He Zhan answered with a confident and calm voice: “Ask away, God’s Son. No need to be polite.”
Feng Luotian asked: “Are you two perhaps Brother He Chen’s older brother and sister?”
The instant He Zhan opened his mouth, Xiu Yao dashed in: “Oh, oh, oh! That’s right, Junior Brother Feng. These two came from the He Clan, where everyone is a forger. At first, I thought it was fake news because, you know …. who would believe that? An entire clan, full of forgers. That’s too awesome, don’t you think? Not only are these two good at forging, but they are also strong as cultivators. I felt this was quite cheating even for me. I need to find and buy my own weapon, but they can create one for themselves. Hah! So frustrating! We are in the same generation, yet they are so capable. No wonder why Peacock Lord took them as disciples right after the entrance exam ten years ago. Not to mention that they’re both one of the Four Suns and also one of the Ten Feathers. This man, He Zhan, was Second Feather, a.k.a. Saber Sun. And this lady, He Chuan, was Third Feather, a.k.a. Sword Sun. But you know what. They’re still inferior to me in cultivation and battle power as I am the one and only First Feather of the Peacock School and also the Dark Sun of Divine Bird City. Hahaha! However, another thing to be gossiped about is their little brother. Compared to them ten years ago, this little brother is quite ….”
“Shut up, Xiu Yao! You have said enough!” He Chuan yelled at Xiu Yao as she could not remain lady-like and calm, especially the last part when Xiu Yao was almost criticizing her younger brother.
Furthermore, a saber flashed out of nowhere and rested under Xiu Yao’s chin as He Zhan solemnly stated: “I agree that you have said enough, Xiu Yao. More than this, and this little weapon might cut your tongue off.”
Feng Luotian could not help but think: “Yeah, Senior Brother Xiu. You have said enough because you already answered every question that I have for them. Actually, you said far more than what I wanted to know about them. Wait! If they are Uncle Mei’s disciples, then, according to him, they just went to carry out a mission with First Elder. Well, I’m getting more curious by the seconds.”

Zeroth Knight re: Dawn
Isekai, fantasy, with the core themes of Identity and Fate. Story contains a, mostly, lesbian cast. Updated twice a day. Evangeline Sayagawa makes the ultimate choice at the cost of the ultimate sacrifice: She decides to leave her world that she fought so hard to return to, and return to Arsea in hopes of saving everyone. Little was she aware of just how bad things had gotten. The world she was returning to was cast into chaos and on the precipice of being destroyed. She awakens in this new kind of Arsea, after having witness the end of a dear friend. The world now belonged to the monstrosities of old, the Beta, and their corrupted human warriors, the Eld. With her fake identity, that which defined her in this world, being stripped from her, she now has to navigate a darkness in which not even the women she loves recognize her. This is book 2 of the Evangeline Sayagawa "Zeroth Knight" story, with book 1 being found here. The first "chapter" posted here is a hyper-condensed version of volume/book 1, in case anyone needs a generalized refresher of events, or for those who wish to start with this book instead as it is faster paced and more action-packed than the first one. Suffice to say, but most of the details from book 1 are lost by doing this; however, enough of the more-important information is present to allow one to understand the general idea of what is going on. This book features a mostly lesbian cast and deals more so with fate and crises of identity more than anything else. However, there is much more action in this one than any of my other stories thus far and brings about the end of Evangeline Sayagawa's story arch... sort of. I have another story up, a short story drama with light yuri and supernatural themes: "Escape The KNIGHT" Share the story if you think it's good. And please rate some stars and leave reviews guys. It will help encourage other people to take a chance with the story and get to know this wonderful journey with us. Also, a friend has made a Discord for the "Zeroth Universe" if anyone wants to join and hang out to talk about the stories, theories, or just general fun chats with us! https://discord.gg/f3Bc4TR Follow me on Twitter @Ozefen0 to stay up to date on my stories and what have you.
