《Light of Returning Darkness》CH 103 – Peacock Library

Third Elder instantly frowned from Feng Luotian’s question, but his reaction was those of worries, not suspicions: “Why do you ask? Did something happen to him?”
Feng Luotian simply replied: “There’s nothing happened to him. I just wonder if you’ve been talking to him lately.”
Third Elder inwardly sighed in relief, then honestly answered with a depressed emotion: “We, my mother and I, rarely met Father ever since he discarded the forge and mainly focused on cultivations. There are times when he was gone for months and only returned to have one meal, then immediately went out right after. We have tried to persuade him to continue his path of forgery, and he would get angry every time we did. Right now, we can only hope that time will heal him and come back to us eventually. We don’t know how long that is going take, but we are willing to wait.”
Feng Luotian sighed out loud: “What if there is no turning back, Third Elder?”
Third Elder intensely stared at Feng Luotian and asked: “G-God’s Son! What do you mean by that?!”
A profound light flashed through Feng Luotian’s eyes as he said: “One thing is that even though the time can heal people, it can also deepen some scars if they are left untreated. That is all I have to say.”
“!!” By the time Third Elder recovered from Feng Luotian’s words, his figure had already vanished from the doorway.
Third Elder could not help but mumble in a low voice under his breath: “Even though the time can heal people, it can also deepen some scars if they are left untreated.”
After finishing his business with Third Elder and obtaining a fair amount of contribution points, Feng Luotian headed straight to the school library: Peacock Library.
Not only did Peacock Library encompass tons of skill books accumulatively collected for many generations, but it also contains other kinds of books such as historical records, bloodline encyclopedia, martial technique opuses, forging tomes, formation codex, alchemy scrolls, and so co.
Peacock Library had four floors in total. The higher floors, the more valuable information.
The top floor only allowed the Mei clan’s clan chief of this or the previous generation to enter.
Only the clan’s elders and above could enter the third floor.
As for the second floor, excluding the elders and clan chief, only the top ten disciples at the time, a.k.a. the [Ten Feathers], could explore this floor.

On the first floor, as long as you were a member of the Peacock School, you had the right to rent any books on this floor.
Since Feng Luotian was not yet one of the Ten Feathers, he could only pick the skill books from the first floor of Peacock Library. Nevertheless, with a tremendous amount of contribution points, he wished to try his luck if he could enter the second floor by paying the contribution points as a privilege fee.
Once he reached the library, Feng Luotian went straight to the information desk at the center of the hall.
The female officer there, who was writing something on the scroll with her quill pen, looked up at Feng Luotian and asked: “How may I be of service today, sir?”
Feng Luotian flatly made a request: “I’d like to enter the second floor.”
The female officer asked, according to the rule here: “May I see your Feather Badge, please?”
Feather Badges were identification symbols for being one of the Ten Feathers. Actually, being one of the Ten Feathers was famous enough for the officer at the Peacock Library to recognize without seeing their badge. Even though the officer recognized Feng Luotian because he was well known for being God’s Son, the officer did not remember when this renowned God’s Son had ever been promoted to one of the Ten Feathers; hence she requested to see the Feather Badge from Feng Luotian.
Feng Luotian answered: “I don’t have that Feather Badge you are talking about.”
The female officer slightly bowed: “If that is the case, then I must apologize for not allowing you to the second floor because you do not have the right to access it.”
Feng Luotian beggingly smiled: “Is there any other way to enter the second floor without using the Feather Badge? I happen to have a lot of contribution points, you see.” He then passed her the golden badge with a whopping amount of contribution points inside.
The female officer’s pupils trembled as she had never seen such a sum before. This many contribution points could only be on the clan chief or elders’ hands, much less a normal disciple that was not one of the Ten Feathers.
After recovering from the shock, the female officer quickly suggested and addressed some rules: “Let me consult with the head librarian. Please make yourself comfortable here on the first floor in the meantime. It is my first time seeing you here, so I guess this is also your first time at Peacock Library as well. Since that is the case, then I have to tell you the rules of this place.”

Feng Luotian lightly nodded.
The female officer listed up the rules as follows:
You may rent the book on each floor according to your status. Normal disciples for the first floor, Ten Feathers for the second floor, Elders for the third floor, and Clan Chief for the fourth floor. You may rent a maximum of five books at a time, with a maximum duration of one month each. You do not have to worry about the late return as the book will teleport itself back to its shelf once the rent period is expired. You may pick any book and bring it to the information desk to unlock the book because there will be a formation covering it, preventing anyone from free reading in the library. You may not steal any book from the library. If there is any locked item passing through the library’s entrance, the alarm will sound, and there will be a penalty of ten times the normal rent. You may copy the book’s content to keep reading it on your own, but you may not sell it to another person. If caught, there will be a penalty of a hundred times the normal rent. You may not damage the book in any way. We will know if something happens to the book. And if you do, there will be a penalty of a hundred times the normal rent.
She then asked Feng Luotian: “Do you understand and agree with all of the rules here?”
Feng Luotian: “Yes.”
The female officer: “Good! Please wait here while I get the head librarian.”
Feng Luotian: “Take your time.”
Following that, the female officer left her post and walked toward the library’s back office. As for Feng Luotian, since he had nothing to do while waiting, he decided to walk around the first floor to see if there was anything that could interest him.
After passing through the entire skill section, there was no skill entering his eyes. “As expected, the first floor only has the most basic skills. Some of them may be of use, but it’s not worth the time and contribution points.”
At the moment when Feng Luotian thought about returning to the center information desk, he sniffed something intriguing. It was a smell of pill aroma, albeit incredibly faint. As Feng Luotian himself was also an alchemist master in his past life, he could distinguish the smell in an instant. And from the pill aroma, he could tell that it was one of the Titanium pills, which meant that this individual was at least a Titanium alchemist.
Feng Luotian did not recall Divine Bird City having a Titanium alchemist in his past life. That was the reason why he was really curious to know who it was.
Walking past the forgery section and formation section, he finally arrived at the alchemy section on the first floor. Following the aromatic and medicinal smell, Feng Luotian eventually reached the end of the section and found a woman choosing alchemy books from the shelf.
Her appearance was that of a grownup lady. From her look, she might be around the same age as Xiu Yao, neither beautiful nor ugly, with her blue hair tucked in a low bun. She wore a long short-sleeved dark green dress with mint green dove patterns.
Upon a careful inspection, Feng Luotian’s brows were slightly knitted: “She looks familiar. Have I met her before during my previous life? And from the medicinal smell she gives off, she should be an excellent alchemist. But who is it? Why have I not heard of her before when I visited Divine Bird City in the past life?”
Feng Luotian did some recollection but could not come up with anyone who fit the characteristics of the woman in front of him, so he focused his mind and let Kronos do the job and hint him with the name.
Name: Lian Fu
Level: Two Talons
Bloodline: Fiery Tail Azure Dove
Bloodline Ability: Azure Flame
Give the user a unique flame to use as an alchemy flame to increase the success rate when concocting pills.
“Lian Fu? She is Granny Lian, the Azure Flame of the Vermilion Kingdom?! What is she doing here in Divine Bird City? Don’t tell me she was born here, but because no one recognized her talent in the past, she went somewhere else to make a name for herself?!” Feng Luotian inwardly exclaimed in surprise.
