《Light of Returning Darkness》CH 88 : QUICK ESCAPE

Whenever cultivators did something that was out of the ordinary which commoners could not do, their Theríon would become active and pulsing causing it to leak out of their bodies. No matter how hard they tried to conceal it, they would always leave a trace of Theríon after the action.
Fortunately, with Kronos hiding his cultivation and Theríon, Feng Luotian could do the impossible. He could move around as he wished without needing to worry about the trace.
Unfortunately, Xiu Yao could not.
On their way to the lookout place on the top of the tree, they moved as slowly as possible to avoid being detected by anyone. Moreover, [Spiritual Concealment Formation] could somewhat diminish the presence of the Theríon leak if it was not too much. That was the reason why they could reach here undetected.
Yet, when they decided to leave, whether it was because Feng Luotian was thinking about the other things at the time and forgot to tell Xiu Yao to retreat as smoothly as possible, or because he left too quickly and not waiting for Xiu Yao to retreat quietly with him, with his casual attitude, Xiu Yao accidentally used too much Theríon as he wished to catch up to Feng Luotian as quickly as possible.
That spurt of Theríon did not go unnoticed by the elder from Yin Clan. Considering all possibilities and methods, Yin Clan’s elder chose to use the suppressive force to pressure his surroundings in a large area. If the ones spying on him were weak, then they would certainly be killed by this suppressive force. If they were strong, then they would come out and face him instead of hiding.
He did consider using Theríon Sonar, but his strength was too strong. Theríon Sonar always spherically expanded from oneself to detect everything it touched, and the stronger the cultivators were, the further the range became. There was no way to control its shape and range of detection. If he activated his Theríon Sonar to sense his enemies, he might unintentionally break the effect of [Beastworld Formation] on the monster horde. That would spell trouble to their mission. Thus, using the suppressive force to rat out the spies was the optimal choice for him.

After a few seconds, with nothing that happened, Yin Clan’s elder increased the power of his suppressive force to another level. The earth shook under his overwhelming might. Right now, even Two Wings Master would find it hard to escape uninjured.
Ten seconds later, every tree, grass, stone … everything within the suppressive area was flattened to the ground. But even then, there was no sign of anyone emerging from the place.
Yin Clan’s elder stopped what he was doing and deactivated the suppressive force. Staring silently at the crushed terrain for a minute or so, he eventually concluded that it was either he mistakenly sensed something or that thing already died under the previous suppressive force, thus he returned to his post in front of the gate and continued his task.
Never would he have thought that above the flattened land, two figures were still alive but not quite well.
In their invisible state, cold sweat soaked Feng Luotian’s entire body as he was standing above Xiu Yao. It was Feng Luotian who came to Xiu Yao’s rescue when he was dropped to the ground.
Xiu Yao was knocked unconscious since the first round of the suppressive force. If he was left just like that, he would absolutely be squashed to death by the second round.
After he ascertained that Yin Clan’s elder had already shifted his focus to the formation, Feng Luotian carried Xiu Yao’s body and rushed out of this place as fast as he could.
Actually, Feng Luotian did not just stop when they were out of danger. He activated [Pinnacle Flash Lightning] and proceeded until they safely returned to the Divine Bird City.
With Feng Luotian’s speed and the [Spiritual Concealment Formation] still on them, coupling with the city citizen’s token on each of their bodies, they passed the city gate without alerting any guards nor tripping any alarms.
Feng Luotian quickly found some alley with no people around then lay his senior brother down against the wall. He himself also leaned on the wall on the opposite side and decided to take some rest and recuperate his energy for a while.

Back to the stone gate
After Yin Clan’s elder returned to the post, the group of three continued with their beast gathering. When the number made up to one thousand monsters, they executed a series of hand seals.
Suddenly, the stone gate was opened and sucked all of the monsters standing in front into it. Once the process finished, the gate closed, signifying the end of their tasks.
Right after those three accomplished what they were doing, one of them with a young male voice asked the elder: “Is something wrong just now, Grandfather?”
The elder answered while still contemplating the matter: “Mhm, it’s indeed strange. I sensed a Theríon fluctuation of Four Talons level, so I went to check it out. But after using the suppressive force strong enough to kill a One Wing Master, there was nothing coming out of it. Even if someone was camouflaging themselves by whatever means, they would certainly show themselves upon death. The only explanation left was that I was mistaken about that fluctuation.”
The last one in the group expressed her opinion with the voice of a young girl: “There’s no way Master would be mistaken about something like this. As a precaution, I think we should consult with our collaborator in Divine Bird City.”
The young man disagreed: “Zexian, aren’t you overthinking this? How could a Four Talons Warrior survive my grandfather’s suppressive force?”
The girl retorted back: “Wuhan, the world is much bigger than you think. There might be someone with a technique or a treasure that can completely cancel the suppressive force altogether.”
Yin Wuhan: “A technique or a treasure that cancels a suppressive force from someone five levels stronger? Don’t you realize how ridiculous that sounds when you say it, Zexian?”
Yin Zexian: “It’s better safe than sorry. I still insist on investigating this matter more thoroughly.”
Yin Wuhan: “What a waste of time! Why are you this jumpy when you’re already a Wing Realm Master, huh, scaredy-cat? Oh, not a cat, you’re a scaredy little fox.”
Yin Zexian: “You!”
The elder named Yin Wuying stopped the fight: “That’s enough! We don’t have time to talk with our collaborator, but I’ll send him a message to be careful.”
Yin Zexian asked again with a worried expression: “What about the glitch our collaborator has warned you, Master?”
Yin Wuhan disdainfully scoffed: “Hmph! The so-called ‘God’s Son’ and his mysterious master? I think our collaborator is just being overly cautious when doing things. How can there be anyone strong enough to stop our long plan single-handedly?”
Before another conflict was formed, Yin Elder waved his hand: “Wuhan, while being cautious can sometimes waste our time and labor, if it happens to be true, the preventive action will prove to be very worthwhile.”
Yin Zexian beamed a victorious smile at Yin Wuhan, who turned his face the other way in a dissatisfying manner.
Yin Elder continued: “Anyway, in these past three years, our clan has finally accomplished the first step of the plan. With an army of one hundred thousand monsters, Divine Bird will become a dead one soon enough! But now, let’s return and have a good rest for a while prior to the beginning of the carnage.”
Three of them had their faces plastered with evil grins.
Yin Elder commanded: “Han’er, Xian’er, open the portal.”
“Yes, Grandfather!”
“Yes, Master!”
Both of them heavily nodded and replied in unison, then walked forward and each drew a magic circle of formation on the ground. Upon completion, each formation was illuminated with a soft radiance and connected with one another by a string of light. A moment later the formations duplicated themselves into upper and lower parts. The upper formations floated upwards until the height reached two meters, then with the lower formations, they formed a door of glowing light.
Yin Zexian: “It’s ready, Master.”
Yin Wuying nodded: “Mhm. Let’s go.”
With that, all three of them entered that door of light and disappeared from the Nefarious Valley.

So What If I'm Trash? Who Needs Cultivation?!
Qing Shan Long. They say he isn't human. An escaped experiment from some government facility, a reincarnation of a saint, a freakish superhuman. Whatever he was one thing was clear. Be it Music, Martial Arts, Science, whatever he does he excels. He was a whimsical man. A great man. A man who craving for knowledge and excitement knows no bounds, whose collection of books and personal library would even make Alexander the Great green with envy. He donated to all manners of charities and funded many projects for helping the poor and disabled. A self made man who single handedly founded one of the largest corporations in the world, Wen Qu Technologies, whose influences reach from vast fields of expertise. From objects of war such as the newest aircrafts, droids, and body armor; to life saving medicine and vaccines; to even the mundane such as video games and the fast food industry. A legendary example of determination and hard work. He was in his car being driven to a business meeting to disclose a deal that would help ensure the country could have access to clean energy and help reduce the pollution that has been plaguing his homeland for the past millenia when he was assassinated and woke up in a strange new world. How will Qing Shan deal with his new environment where the strong suppresses the weak? From the top of the world he suddenly finds himself free falling to rock bottom. Unable to cultivate, a weak body, and all but disowned by his family. (For those who read comics and watch cartoons, imagine him as being Tony Stark, Richard Reeds, Jimmy Neutron, etc level of 'Genius'. ) My own spin on some familar tropes. Another reincarnation into another world story. The MC will take over the body of someone with a trash body that can't cultivate and will be hated and neglected by his family. Pretty typical so far right? Except there won't be some amazing miracle to heal our MC, there isn't some magical grandpa to teach him some OP thing which only his trash body can use, there isn't a hidden op bloodline, and he is not from a super amazing assassin clan or genius doctor. He isn't the chosen one, he's just a guy trying his best to make something with a crap situation. First attempt at a wuxia type story! I like playing with common tropes, maybe adding a twist, to playing it straight as a classic. I have absolutely no idea where this is going to take me but please do give your input and I'll do my best so that everyone has a say in where our journey will go. I'll admit the only knowledge I have of chinese history and ancient society is from reading light novels translated to english and some old dramas, so if I make some social passe just take it as because this is another world, not exactly an AU where magic and stuff actually exist. I'm also not actually Chinese and will basically using google to help me with names and other such, if I make a mistake please let me know! (Even if you don't like the story or couldn't bare to get past chapter 1 please leave a comment so I can find out where to improve, thank you!)
