《Light of Returning Darkness》CH 77 : DISCUSSION (2)

Sparrow Lord changed the subject: “To the next topic. Now that, God’s Son publicly said that Mei Clan’s Second Elder has joined us to take over the clan. How are people responding to it? How much do they believe the news?”
The leader of Sikong Clan’s members that were dispatched to investigate the matter prior to this reported: “This is what we found, Clan Chief. To Young Master Sikong Jiu, God’s Son only asked that ‘tell me, what did you promise Mei Hongyi after you take over the Mei Clan as Divine Bird City’s ruler?’ Although it was a question with implicative meanings and people started to think on their own when they heard it at first, without any solid evidence, the citizens began to doubt God’s Son’s words as the time passed. That’s why no matter how much God’s Son hoped to instigate the crowd to believe that we have planned something behind the curtain, this chaotic news will disappear on their own within a week at most.”
Sparrow Lord lightly nodded his head and gently waved his hand, signaling them to leave the room. With that, the investigating team quickly retreated out of the room.
Sparrow Lord glanced to his right side where the hooded figure was standing and said: “See? You don’t have to urgently rush here and act like a panic-stricken bird. Why do you have to take the words from a brat that seriously? Everything will be just fine, and we don’t have to do anything. Don’t you think so, Mei Clan’s Second Elder?”
When Sparrow Lord revealed the identity of the hooded figure, Mei Hongyi took off his hood and showed his face to the crowd. Even after that, no one in the room displayed any surprise. They knew all too well what they planned and whom they were allying with.
Previously, after Mei Hongyi heard what Feng Luotian announced to the crowd, he was really afraid of their plan being exposed. That would spell an end of him. That was why he hurriedly came here to have a consult with Sparrow Lord. However, it seemed that Mei Hongyi was worried for nothing.
Seeing a relaxed face on Mei Hongyi, Sparrow Lord let out a light snort and continued: “You don’t have to worry about the people as they were just livestock for us to control and take advantage of, but we can’t say the same thing when it comes to your own clan. They will believe everything God’s Son had said. Even though they do not have any evidence to hold against you, they will start taking precautions and investigation. It will be much more difficult to carry out the plan any further. While what you have set up inside your clan in the past few years was already enough for us to take the next step, I’m not fond of 99% as I only want 100%. The failure in assassinating Peacock Lord’s daughter was already getting on my nerve. So, you still have to continue ‘setting them up’, even if it has become a hundred times harder. Do you understand me, Mei Clan’s Second Elder?”

Mei Hongyi could only nod to Sparrow Lord’s question: “Yes, Sparrow Lord. Leave it to me.”
When the Twins heard Sparrow Lord mentioned their failure, they lowered their heads as much as they could. Any more than this, their heads would sink into their necks like a turtle.
Sparrow Lord gave another wave of his hand: “Submit your goods!!”
Following that, every person in the room, except Sparrow Lord and the Twins, touched their own spatial ring and took out several objects before placing them into the space prepared beforehand beside the throne.
The objects were either furniture or decoration for interior embellishments, such as vases, lamps, candleholders, book shelves, carpets, blinders, and anything other things you could think of.
After the process was done, Sparrow Lord beckoned to Mei Hongyi to collect the ‘goods’ into his personal spatial ring.
While Mei Hongyi was doing the usual, Sparrow Lord indifferently commented: “If our plan came to fruition, you will be Mei Clan’s Clan Chief as you desire. So, don’t worry about other things, and get the work done properly. You know the consequence of messing with me, right, Mei Clan’s Second Elder?”
Although his tone was smooth, Sparrow Lord’s pressure and intent were saying something entirely different. Mei Hongyi felt like his head was under the guillotine while Sparrow Lord was pressing his blade at the rope.
Mei Hongyi answered with a trembling voice: “Yes, I know that quite well, Sparrow Lord.”
Sparrow Lord nodded then turned to his left: “Anything you want to add, Supreme Elder?”
It was quite strange for him to call his own father ‘Supreme Elder’, but it seemed to be normal for people of the Sikong Clan.
Sikong Clan’s Supreme Elder spoke with his hoarse voice: “Nothing in particular. Just a reminder for this Second Elder. Be careful of Mei Hengkong!! That old fox is slyer than you think he is. He might already prepare his own precaution before God’s Son making his debut or even before we initiated our plan. Now that, God’s Son became his disciple and you have become a suspect in his eyes. He will use this disciple to overthrow you out of the clan by one way or another. Mark my words!!”

With that, the Supreme Elder of Sikong Clan vanished from the hall. When Sparrow Lord announced the end of the meeting, everyone went back to do their own business.
As for Mei Hongyi, he put back his hood and stealthily returned to his residence without anyone noticing. While he was making his way back, another meeting was convened.
Mei Clan, Peacock Pavilion
In Peacock Lord’s quarter, there were ten people within the hall. Peacock Lord and First Elder were stationed at the main table as always. But currently behind Peacock Lord, there stood two other persons: Mei Hengkong and his daughter-in-law: Mei Xue’er.
In front of Peacock Lord’s working table, six disciples were orderly lining up. Four of them were of familiar faces: Mei Yue’er, Tu Lingxi, Ying Lizhua, and Sun Wuji, who looked quite battered at the moment. He ran from the Nefarious Valley straight to Peacock Pavilion without stopping even one second.
Sensing Sun Wuji’s chaotic aura, Mei Yue’er followed him here, intentionally bringing her mother and Tu Lingxi with her.
The same goes for Ying Lizhua, who was training with his senior brother and sister at the time. That was why two other disciples present in the hall right now were Ying Lizhua’s senior brother and sister and also Peacock Lord’s direct disciples: He Zhan and He Chuan.
Although they were of different genders, their faces looked similar to each other. As the matter of fact, they were twins born from He Clan. Furthermore, they were son and daughter of Heron Lord: He An, which made them He Chen’s older brother and sister.
They both were in a clean and white garments. He Zhan garbed in a gentlemanly robe while He Chuan wore a lady-like dress. And while their faces were not blessed with good looks, their decent demeanor could still attract those of opposite genders to admiration. Not to mention that both of their cultivation levels were as high as Three Talons.
As for Mei Hengkong, he was there at the office talking about some matters with his son and his brother even before Sun Wuji barged in. After seven people stormed into the room, they stopped talking and shifted their attention to the newcomers.
When Mei Xue’er noticed her father-in-law, wishing to be spoiled, she activated her [Aurora Treading Step] and instantaneously arrived beside him, then told him why they came which she knew nothing of what was going on. Peacock Lord, who already got used to his wife’s coquettish yet childish nonsense, shook his head and asked: “Sun Wuji, what happened?”
Sun Wuji then recounted everything that had transpired since he got kicked out by his master in the morning. He skipped the part where the weapon shop had a couple dozen of Titanium armaments in their store as he thought that the topic was irrelevant and probably a bit sensitive.
Listened to Sun Wuji’s story, everyone in the room could not help but gasp. But aside from shock, everyone in the room had their own opinion about what happened. At the end of the story, where Sun Wuji formed his own wisps of conscience into nine and sent them to each person to relay Feng Luotian’s message, Peacock Lord already face-palmed himself and did not know what to say.

I Was Reincarnated as Someone's Mana??
My name is Magnus Karlsson, and by a series of rather unfortunate events that I had absolutely no say in, I was killed and reincarnated. In this story, you will follow Magnus as he tries his very best to survive in a world that's been thrown into chaos, together with the man whose mana he is, Allan Woodsworth. Well, not a man per se, more of a little boy who has no idea what the fuck is going on, but, you know... I'm sure it'll be fine. Nothing bad will happen to the pair. Nope. No abandoned kids here. Anyhow. The world that Magnus has been thrown into is one perversed by the will of a great mage who, three thousand years ago, decided that it would be a great idea to infuse all the people of the earth with so-called "orbs". These magical crystals allow their handler to control and generate mana, which they can then use to become mages. Most barely use them, since the mana cost of doing such a little thing as a fireball spell is absolutely ridiculous. Said mage, Theodore Cromwell, Magnus used his resources to infuse not only humans with orbs, but animals as well, giving rise to what the mage community calls "horrid perversions of nature", but what the common folk calls "monsters". Orbs can be used for much, and it is through orbs that people keep track on their level of mana and such, and destroying the orb of a monster is A, the only way to kill it and B, a good way to absorb extra mana and raise ones level. It is such an orb that Magnus has been tranformed into. ------ To those that care, I'm very sorry about the title, it's just that, well, it's very good to be blunt about isekais like this since people such as myself search precisely for this, so having super-serious names like "The Magnus of the World of Orbs" would turn people wanting a simple and fun isekai off. I hope you give this story a fair chance! ------ Edit: IWRASM now has a deviantart page!!! https://www.deviantart.com/thefunartcorner

Monster Apocalypse
When the news started reporting strange changes of mankind, though the information was obviously controlled, it was enough to create commotion around the world. At first, it was only the subtle change of hair color, though it was strange, everyone accepted such a small change, some embraced it, some dyed their hair into normal colors. Afterwards, videos of people doing impossible feats surfaced onto the media, men lifting cars, women crushing walls, children jumping up to the second story of buildings easily. Then, humans started growing beast like appendages and features, horns and tails sprouted, though abnormally small, it was growing, regardless of the age or gender of the affected human. Despite the countless funds supplied into researching why, or how, did these features come to be, it proved to be fruitless. As those features grew, it became more defined, wings capable of carrying humans into the skies appeared, tails controlled by humans emotions sprouted to a certain length, and stopped growing. And on the last day, known as the beginning of the Monster Apocalypse, mankind grew wild.
