《Light of Returning Darkness》CH 76 : DISCUSSION (1)

Sikong Clan, Sparrow Tower
At the center of Sparrow School, there stood a nine-stories black tower, called the Sparrow Tower. There seemed to always be a dark cloud hovering above the Sparrow Tower, creating thunder and lightning within it from time to time. This made the atmosphere around the Sparrow School eternally cloudy and dark. One could feel a tinge of fright every time they entered the school.
The Sparrow Tower’s purpose was very much similar to the Peacock Pavilion, where people went there to request help or report incidents to be dealt with by the Clan.
The only difference was, at the Sparrow Tower, people who came here would only be reporting things that directly related to Sikong Clan. Anyone that reported incidents that did not eventually benefit the Sikong would be punished just for wasting their time.
At the present moment, on the ninth floor of the Sparrow Tower, there were almost fifty people standing in front of a throne.
The one who was currently sitting on the throne with his eyes closed was a long-hair middle-aged man. His black eyebrows were stretching upward with a golden tint at their endpoints. His complexion was as stern and rigid as one could be.
Even though his body was not quite stalwart and muscular, his cultivation could not be underestimated as he was a Four Wings Master. People in this city who could fight him could be counted by one’s hand.
He was the current clan chief of the Sikong Clan, named Sikong Jie, also known as [Sparrow Lord].
On his left side, there stood an old man with a walking stick supporting his seem-to-be frail body, yet the man was even stronger than Sparrow Lord himself at Five Wings.
The old man’s face looked similar to Sparrow Lord as he actually was Sparrow Lord’s Father and Sikong Clan’s Supreme Elder: Sikong Jing.
On the right side of Sparrow Lord, there was a hooded figure who was deliberately hiding his identity from the crowd.
Sikong Jiu and the Twins were standing in the front row. Next to Sikong Jiu, there was another individual whose look and dress pretty much resembled him, but with a little mature touch to his characteristics and aura, as he was Sikong Jiu’s older brother: Sikong Jian.

The rest of the people present in the room was the Sikong Clan’s members with either high status or something to report that was related to today’s meeting topic.
The room was silent for quite a while, yet no one voiced their complaint. They stood there and quietly waited for Sparrow Lord to initiate by either his question or his command.
With a loud bang of the thunder, Sparrow Lord opened his eyes and said: “Jiu’er.” His voice did not contain any emotion nor any attempt to threaten people with overwhelming power; however, one could not help but feel subjugated in his presence.
Sikong Jiu knelt down with one knee and saluted with his remaining hand: “Yes, Father!!”
Sparrow Lord: “How is your arm?”
Sikong Jiu bowed: “Currently, all the pain was already alleviated. But the loss of an arm cannot go without any justification. I request Father to seek compensation from the Mei Clan as much as possible and …”
With a slight raise of Sparrow Lord’s hand, Sikong Jiu stopped speaking. Sparrow Lord responded: “I have heard of your situation, Jiu’er. You did well by losing an arm to God’s Son, but you did wrong by ordering Blackie and Whitey to kill him. Luckily, God’s Son won’t die by just this.”
“??” Sikong Jiu frowned as he was very confused by his father. Blackie and Whitey also gave each other a glance and did not know what Sparrow Lord meant by his words.
“Looking at your reaction, it seems you don’t understand a thing, my Little Brother.”
Noticing the puzzlement on their faces, Sikong Jiu’s brother: Sikong Jian elucidated the hidden meaning: “I don’t know whether you’ve heard of the news about God’s Son giving a high-level Titanium material, that can be forged to at least five Titanium armaments, to the Mei Clan or not.”
“Assuming that you know, getting God’s Son to take your arm away is practically the same as us taking that Titanium material from Mei Clan. We can forge your new prosthetic arm of the Titanium level using that material, and also forge at least four more Titanium armaments in addition. An immense profit with just a simple conflict!! That’s why Father said that you did well. Don’t you agree? And getting a new Titanium arm … tsk, tsk, tsk, even I cannot contain the envy in my heart, my Little Brother.”

After hearing his brother’s explanation, Sikong Jiu’s eyes were widely opened with excitement. Right, to him, getting a new Titanium arm was worth it as he could instantly become stronger by several folds just by having it.
However, his excitement dimmed down when Sikong Jian continued: “But when you ordered the Twins to hunt God’s Son … Hehe, I didn’t expect that I have such a dumb little brother. With God’s Son dying, how could we hope to claim our prize? Even more than that, it would be us who have to hand them something as compensation!! If that was not wrong, then what was?”
Following the excitement came the disappointment and guilt. Sikong Jiu realized what he had done and bowed his head even lower than before, not daring to meet his father’s eyes. But before his thought wandered any further, Sikong Jian snapped that away: “Don’t blame yourself that hard, my Little Brother. You’re still young and inexperienced. As Father said, luckily, he won’t die by just this.”
Blackie quickly interjected: “How could that be?! He was hit by the Wing Realm dark monster’s skill. Even I could not escape uninjured, right, Whitey?”
Whitey nodded at his brother: “Indeed, Blackie. Even more, we summoned two Amethyst Horned Snakes to hunt him down. With their tracking ability and sure-death poison, even if he was still alive after taking that skill, he would still die by the snakes.”
Sikong Jian shook his head while smiling at these guys’ ignorance: “Have you forgotten how he survived your Wight Wolf one month ago?”
“!!” Being reminded of the incident, the Twins were taken back and lost for words.
Sparrow Lord now explained the detail himself: “One month ago, you two reported every single detail of that incident to us. We believe that it was an expert lending his or her hands to help dying youngsters. But that was it. They might be just passing by and decided to interfere. If that was the case, Feng Luotian should not survive his current predicament.”
“However, the problem now lies behind his current cultivation. How could he awaken his bloodline now when there’s no doctor in the world who can cure him? How could he, a cripple, become Seven Fangs in just a month? How could he, who had just entered the cultivation world one month ago, be able to defeat our [Speed Star] and tear out his arm with a lower cultivation level? If it’s not for someone helping him and teaching him in the dark, how could he accomplish all that?”
“Now, do you think the dark monster or your little snakes can do anything to him?”
Upon a realization, rather than getting frustrated for being unable to kill Feng Luotian, instead, Sikong Jiu and the Twins were sighing in relief. If things went as they expected, once Feng Luotian returned uninjured to the Mei Clan, they could indeed force ‘that compensation’ from the Mei Clan.
Nevertheless, Sikong Jiu still had one matter he could not understand, so he asked out: “If that’s the case, wouldn’t it be bad to target God’s Son or anyone related to him?”
He was afraid that if that expert wished to retaliate, his clan would not be able to get away with it. An expert that could raise a disciple from a cripple to Seven Fangs in one month was not someone they could deal with.
Sparrow Lord indifferently replied: “Don’t worry about that. If that expert wanted to take revenge for God’s Son, they would have already done so one month ago. Why would they wait until now? From what we see, that expert had no intention to interfere with God’s Son’s business. They only wanted him alive. As for anything else, God’s Son was on his own.”
Everyone in the room nodded in agreement after hearing their lord’s speculation.
