《Light of Returning Darkness》CH 71 : THE BATTLE OF SPEED (2)

“Never mind, never mind. He’s just a brat. It’s expected that he’d do something unexpected.”
Whilst Feng Luotian mumbled within his breath, but the sentence was unescapably heard by Sikong Jiu when he landed after getting kicked by the guy. And although Feng Luotian seemed to be comforting himself to control his irritation, it was a heavy jab to Sikong Jiu that he could not tolerate.
Young. Naïve. Brat.
Recovered from the attack, Sikong Jiu had a dark and solemn expression. If a snap could be heard, it would be from some vein within the guy’s brain: “If you want to die that much, then so be it!!” With that, Sikong Jiu decided to stop playing around.
Seeing his opponent’s serious composure, Feng Luotian stopped fooling around as well. He threw the remaining two daggers at the [Lightning Marks] on the ground. Placing them together could reduce Sikong Jiu’s waypoints. If he wished to retrieve the daggers, he would need to risk be exploited by Feng Luotian. Furthermore, Feng Luotian would not risk having a [Lightning Mark] on him because Sikong Jiu could directly teleport to him and deliver some strikes.
Feng Luotian resumed the battle by dashing toward his enemy. He still did not have any range attack at the moment, so he got no choice but to engage in close combat.
As for Sikong Jiu, he lobbed two daggers upward and shot another two at Feng Luotian.
Seeing two daggers flew toward him, blue light flashed in his eyes. Feng Luotian caught one dagger while dodging the other. He glanced back a bit, then flicked the dagger in his hand to the one he dodged earlier.
Both daggers hit and perfectly plunged at the separated [Lightning Marks], further deducting Sikong Jiu’s waypoints in the process. Under the effect of [Momentum Eyes], there was no one who could defeat Feng Luotian in the accuracy of range attacks.
The moment Feng Luotian glanced back, Sikong Jiu already jumped to one of the [Lightning Marks] that had a dagger on it and collected the dagger. In the next tick of the clock, Sikong Jiu appeared in the air where two lobbed daggers were. Upon the collection of the two in the air, Sikong Jiu put three daggers in his right hand, spreading them out like a folded fan.

After forming a couple of hand signs with his left hand, lightning sparkled around the daggers. Sikong Jiu then fired them at Feng Luotian on the battleground: “[Trigonal Lightning Snare]!!”
Three daggers created a lightning mesh between them in triangle form. The covering area of the skill might be small at the launching point, however, it drastically expanded as it headed straight to where Feng Luotian was until it almost covered up the entire battle area.
This was a disabling skill imbued with the Lightning element. Surely, if Feng Luotian got caught in it, it would be difficult for him to emerge from this victoriously.
Facing the looming lightning entrapment, Feng Luotian quickly activated [Underworld Physique] then raised his foot and stomped upon the ground. A chunk of land flipped up midair as Feng Luotian immediately flashed beneath it: “Take this!!”
Feng Luotian hurled a punch at that piece of land. The power contained within it forced [Trigonal Lightning Snare] back and continued towards the figure in the air.
Sikong Jiu glowered at the failure of the skill, but then instantly teleported back to the ground to avoid being hit by Feng Luotian’s hurtled debris.
Not only that mass took away three daggers, but it also carried four [Lightning Marks] locating on it as well. This made Sikong Jiu lose three weapons and seven waypoints in one counterattack.
Sikong Jiu growled as he pointed his finger at Feng Luotian. “You’re good, God’s Son!! It seems I can’t afford to hold anything back!!” The lightning wrapped around Sikong Jiu the same way Feng Luotian activated his [Pinnacle Flash Lightning] as he roared: “Eat this, [Overcharge]!!”
Sikong Jiu vanished and reappeared at the [Lightning Mark] opposite to his initial location. If one looked at the bird-eyes view, the place where Feng Luotian was standing was positioned perfectly between Sikong Jiu’s start and endpoints.
A strike of lightning connected the two ends, making Feng Luotian suffer from it.
Fortunately, he had activated [Pinnacle Flash Lightning] which had 62% of Lightning Resistance.
Normally, because this ultimate attack of Sikong Jiu was elemental, this one strike could take down anyone under Eight Fangs, regardless of how high their defense was. However, this attack could only burn Feng Luotian’s front clothes to crisp and not really cause much damage to Feng Luotian himself.

Nevertheless, less damage was still damage. If this went on without Feng Luotian doing something to get himself out of this situation, then he would really be a toast.
Sikong Jiu snarled: “Hmph!! You’re a tough one, aren’t you?” Following that, he repeatedly jumped around the battle area at extreme speed, collecting the daggers and executing his [Overcharge].
As for Feng Luotian, after being hit once, there was no way he would allow it twice. Glancing back and forth, as soon as Sikong Jiu vanished and reappeared somewhere, Feng Luotian would get away from the connected line. Luckily, the [Overcharge] had a slight delay before it struck after Sikong Jiu made a jump. That gave Feng Luotian some time to escape the predicament.
Sikong Jiu randomly tossing the daggers around and teleported all over the place made Feng Luotian fall into a defensive stance. A few lightning strikes already hit him, creating burnt marks on his body.
Sun Wuji, who thought that this fight was a sure-win, became worried. He did not expect Sikong Jiu to be this strong. He also speculated that Sikong Jiu might be even stronger than the greatest genius: Ying Lizhua by a huge margin. If one could not hit the guy, how could they take him down? Not to mention that Sikong Jiu also had a strong offensive skills while dodging his opponent.
The crowd silently watched the match as they did not have anything to say. Why? They could not see anything with their own eyes. The fight was just too fast to track. The only things they saw were streaks and sparkles of lightning.
Amongst the critical circumstances he was facing, Feng Luotian entered the zone where he abandoned all senses of other things and only gave all of his focuses on the battle. A thought emerged: “Speed really is the best attribute when it came to a one-on-one battle. Luckily, my innate skill is the speed type, or else, the situation would be much more desperate. I’ll also admit that the guy is strong. And after he placed so many [Lightning Marks], I won’t be able to catch him … with speed alone, that is.”
After observing his opponent to a certain point, Feng Luotian stopped moving and closed his eyes.
Sun Wuji immediately shouted: “Brother Feng, what are you doing? Are you giving up this fight? That’s not like you at all. What about my Titanium weapon? Don’t throw it away just like that?”
Not only Sun Wuji but also the crowd that riled up after witnessing Feng Luotian’s action. Even Sikong Jiu had to stop his attacks. But before Sikong Jiu opened his mouth, Feng Luotian said: “Don’t mind me. Just attack. The fight will be over in three moves with one of your arms unattached.”
“What?!” Everybody at the scene exclaimed in unison.
Sikong Jiu, who no longer had the mood to take on any more provocation, instantly teleported himself to the [Lightning Mark] crossing past Feng Luotian. After that, Sikong Jiu looked at Feng Luotian waiting for the lightning to strike the guy down. But as the time seemed to enter its slow-motion state, his eyelid closed down as he would normally blink.
The next scene after 100 milliseconds of darkness was a sight of a fist heading straight to his face.
Sikong Jiu hastily teleported away with his pale face of shock. However, what awaited him was a whip kick from above.
The attack was even closer than before, but Sikong Jiu could still barely dodge it by jumping to another [Lightning Mark]. Never did he know that there was someone already waiting for him at that mark even before he activated his ability.
“Hello.”
A greeting whisper right behind Sikong Jiu made all the hair on his body stand on its end. What followed was happening so fasts that he could not even react. And at the next moment, Sikong Jiu saw Feng Luotian reappeared on the opposite side of the fighting area holding an arm in his hand.
