《Light of Returning Darkness》CH 70 : THE BATTLE OF SPEED (1)

Feng Luotian thought: “Although this ability can prove to be quite troublesome if Sikong Jiu can place some marks within this area, the battle shall be over before he can even do so.”

Feng Luotian released his Theríon covering himself with purple flame and golden lightning.

“Woah!!” Every person in the crowd hollered in surprise.

“So, the rumor is true. You are now a Seven Fangs, huh?”

Although Sikong Jiu was also shocked on the inside, he put out a tough front and commented: “But from what I heard, you’re still a cripple one month ago. Surely, in the face of death, no one would try to hide their cultivation, right?”

“In the face of death?”

Feng Luotian instantly furrowed his brows, thinking: “The report we gave to Uncle Mei and the First Elder was only that we got attacked by the Wight Wolf. We avoided mentioning anything about how we escaped altogether, so they shouldn’t know how close to death we were. And from the info we provided, they probably speculated that there was some expert helping us, and that would be what they recorded in their documents. It’d still be fine if the Sikong only knows about us getting attacked by the monster because there are spies everywhere. That’s normal. But if they know more than what the spies should know, then it can only be that they are the culprits themselves.”

As Feng Luotian was contemplating the assassination’s case, Sikong Jiu continued: “So, tell me. How can you raise your cultivation that much within just one month? Did somebody help you awaken your bloodline and raise your cultivation to this level?”

Feng Luotian stayed silent. His attention turned to Blackie and Whitey as he focused his mind.

Name: Gui Hei

Level: Two Talons

Bloodline: Black Stripe Summoning Sparrow

Bloodline Ability: Black Summon

The monster summoned by the user will have its offensive power be considerably enhanced. Name: Gui Bai

Level: Two Talons

Bloodline: White Stripe Summoning Sparrow

Bloodline Ability: White Summon

The monster summoned by the user will have its defensive power be considerably enhanced.

“So, it’s you all!!”

Feng Luotian grumbled as killing intent surged from every pore on his body.

Sun Wuji noticed the change in Feng Luotian’s expression: “What’s wrong, Brother Feng?”

Feng Luotian roared pointing his finger at the Gui brothers: Blackie and Whitey: “It’s them!! They are the ones who unleashed the Wight Wolf upon us!!”

Sun Wuji: “What?!” He too could not control his emotion as the murderous thought flowing into his eyes.

Sikong Jiu directly denied the accusation and scornfully smiled at the enraged duo: “Hey, hey, hey, hold on!! Careful with your words, God’s Son. You know that it’s a crime slandering people without any evidence, right? And the compensation is quite high. This is the rule that your high and mighty Peacock Lord set himself. You couldn’t possibly already forget about it, could you?” The anger and humiliation from before subsided a bit after seeing his enemies’ discontented faces.

Being reminded of the rule and realizing that they had no evidence as Sikong Jiu stated, Sun Wuji could do nothing but keep his rage onto himself: “YOU!!”

As for Feng Luotian, on the other hand, his head hung down and his complexion became completely dark. His sanguineous aura alone caused the air around him to silently tremble. Lightning surged and covered Feng Luotian as his skin turned dark-red. Two skills within Feng Luotian’s possession had been activated.

Once he raised his head and his eyes fixed upon Sikong Jiu, he calmly spoke: “Today’s fight won’t be ending with just winning or losing a bet. An arm shall be the very least that you’ll lose!!”

Sikong Jiu scoffed: “Hmph!! As if you could do anything to me without being able to catch me at all!!” Finishing the sentence, he threw a flying dagger towards Feng Luotian’s face. Naturally, with [Momentum Eyes], Feng Luotian dodged it with ease.

And in the next splinter of a second, Feng Luotian materialized himself in front of Sikong Jiu, hurling his heavy-weight punch at the face.

Sun Wuji said at the rim: “With this, the fight is over!!” He knew that this punch was packed with power strong enough to repel even the attacks from the Three Talons clone. How could Sikong Jiu, who was at Eight Fangs, ever hope to survive such force?

Feng Luotian thought so as well. More than that, without any [Lightning Mark], how could Sikong Jiu dodge his current speed? However, his dynamic punch hit nothing but air, creating a sonic boom sound with no impact.

Feng Luotian’s complexion slightly twitched and returned to its normal state upon a realization: “There must be a [Lightning Mark] on that dagger he just threw.”

That was right, and immediately after Sikong Jiu teleported himself to that dagger, while he was still in the air, he drew five more from his sash bag. Then including the one he warped to, he shot six daggers onto the ground spreading over the battle area.

Sikong Jiu sequentially teleported himself to each dagger, then placed a [Lightning Mark] on the ground and retrieved the dagger in the process.

A moment later, Sikong Jiu launched a dagger upward and repeated the same actions once again.

Within just a few seconds, he left twelve [Lightning Marks] on the battle area. In addition to his six lightning daggers, he now had eighteen waypoints.

After completing his setup, with a conceited smile on his face, Sikong Jiu disdainfully commented: “I admit that you’ve surprised me, God’s Son!! Not only could you manage to increase your cultivation to this level, but your speed could also threaten my title as the [Speed Star]. However, this is over. Don’t even think that you could ever land a hit on me.”

Feng Luotian deactivated his [Underworld Physique]. He had to find a way to catch his opponent first, before thinking about attacking, because if he could not land a hit, why would he need to increase his attack power? That would be an absolute waste of Theríon.

Without responding to Sikong Jiu’s provocation, Feng Luotian darted himself toward his opponent with his extreme speed.

Sikong Jiu felt irritated when his words were completely ignored: “Hmph!!”

As Feng Luotian rapidly approached him, Sikong Jiu appeared at the opposite side of the arena, then flicked three daggers in succession to Feng Luotian’s back.

Although Feng Luotian could not see the attacks from behind with his [Momentum Eyes], with his battle experiences, how could he not discern what a brat with such an ability would do? Calculating the perfect timing, he tapped the ground with his foot jumping a bit and twisting his body to spin midair. Three daggers missed their target and were grabbed and collected by Feng Luotian instead.

“How?!” Sikong Jiu exclaimed in astonishment. He did not expect Feng Luotian to be able to dodge his attacks from the blind spot.

Blue light flashed across Feng Luotian’s eyes as he flung one dagger at his enemy.

Seeing his enemy's action, Sikong Jiu angrily barked at Feng Luotian: “You bastard!! Using my weapon to attack me, how long are you going to keep humiliating me?!”

Yes, it was an insult, because Sikong Jiu could only just teleport himself to the dagger or other marks to perfectly avoid the attack. This was like telling him that: Your attacks are useless against me, so I’m giving it back to you.

However, that was not what Feng Luotian was planning at all. The moment he sensed a ripple of Theríon fluctuation from Sikong Jiu, he flashed himself at the dagger he just threw, following by a sweep kick. And whether it was coincidental or not, Sikong Jiu appeared beside that dagger and received a full brunt of Feng Luotian’s kick.

The kick force blasted Sikong Jiu away, but since Feng Luotian had already deactivated his [Underworld Physique], the power was not enough to take him down. This made Feng Luotian complain out loud: “Damn!! If I knew he’s this young and naive, I wouldn’t have closed the [Underworld Physique].”

It was all Feng Luotian’s intention to probe his opponent’s way of thinking. He calculated that there were two possibilities after he shot a dagger at Sikong Jiu.

First was Sikong Jiu teleported himself out of the dagger path to avoid the attack altogether without risking himself at all. That way, Feng Luotian would learn Sikong Jiu’s pattern or rather his habit when dodging attacks.

Second was Sikong Jiu teleported himself to the dagger and upon retrieving the dagger, he would immediately pull back to another [Lightning Mark] and observe the situation before making his next move.

The sweep kick was just to catch the guy off guard and discern another habit of the time when the attack was almost hit him. Never would Feng Luotian expect that there was another possibility. The one that Sikong Jiu came to the dagger and just stood there without retreating.
