《Light of Returning Darkness》CH 62 : MASTER AND DISCIPLE (3)

Feng Luotian was frustrated when it ended up like this.
And when there was nowhere to vent his frustration, he turned to the one that seemed to be the cause.
Feng Luotian smacked the frozen Sun Wuji’s head and said: “Come on, let’s follow her. And you, Mei Hongli!! Don’t forget what you agreed on, or else, I’ll make you regret it!!”
Feng Luotian gave Mei Hongli a cold gaze full of murderous intent, causing the guy’s hair to stand on its end. Following that, he dashed away going after Mei Yue’er.
Sun Wuji dumbly scratched his head and tagged behind his brother, leaving Mei Hongli who was kneeling on the ground in fear.
Only after Mei Hongyi noticed and arrived to release him from his mental breakdown that Mei Hongli came back from his nightmare.
Every other accepted disciple walked back with their master. Those who still qualified to take another exam waited there to take their chance at the Peacock School.
The First Elder was walking with his disciples, Wei Ci and his duplications. After leaving a crowded area around the exam site, they flashed and completely disappeared from the scene.
Not long after that, they arrived at some area among the woods in the Warland Thicket where there was no one in sight.
First Elder held out his hand: “Return the [Soul Suppression Amulets]. I have to use them for something else.”
Wei Ci and his duplications, all four of them removed the amulets they were wearing and handed them to First Elder: “Here they are, Master.”
After they removed the items, their cultivation increased from Six Fangs to Ten Fangs. It appeared that the item called [Soul Suppression Amulet] could actually suppress one’s cultivation for four levels.
First Elder put away the amulets and asked: “What are your thoughts about this exam?”
Wei Ci commented: “Ying Lizhua are good. Mei Yue’er, Sun Wuji, and Tu Lingxi are average at best. All other participants are trash. But … there is one troublesome guy.”
First Elder’s eyebrows raised: “God’s son?”
Wei Ci: “Yes, Master. He will be a problem later.”
First Elder: “What is his ability?”
Wei Ci: “I can’t say for sure. But at the very least, it has an identifying capability.”
First Elder became serious: “Identifying capability? What kind? Did he see through your disguise?”
Wei Ci shook his head: “No, Master, he didn’t see through my actual cultivation, but it’s more unbelievable than that. He knew about my bloodline the moment he saw me.”

“!!” First Elder was surprised then quickly fell into pondering: “Umm.”
“Not only that, Master, he was the only one who concocted all those plans to deal with the clone. And after roughly listening to our skills and abilities once, he devised the plan right away. His mind was even more strategic than mine!! Not to mention that he can solo a Three Talon clone with Second Elder in it!! And also, as Master may have already seen it, he can instantly refine monster cores and make a breakthrough just like that. It’s … too heaven-defying!!” added Wei Ci. He felt intimidated just by saying it.
First Elder sternly taught: “Don’t let your perception deceive you. There are many ways to perform what he did today. The real problem is lying under all those farces.”
“Master means to say that he was already Seven Fangs before and only acted it out to fool everyone?” asked Wei Ci.
First Elder responded: “That’s only one possibility among many. We don’t know anything about it yet.”
“We should take care of him as fast as possible.”
Wei Ci decisively commented.
“We can’t!!” First Elder rejected the idea.
Wei Ci: “Why?”
First Elder answered: “We are not ready to arouse any suspicion. And Feng Luotian is no longer a normal chess piece. As I said, the real problem is lying under all those farces.”
Wei Ci: “What kind of problem, Master?”
First Elder started explaining: “First, the Wight Wolf incident one month ago. Even though we still do not know for sure who did it, we have already deduced it to some extent and can roughly guess of who the culprit is. Those guys would not do things unprepared. If they wished to eliminate Yue’er in that incident, then she should be dead by now. But how come she is still alive?”
“Second, not only did they all survive that incident, but they were also not injured at all. A planned assassination from a One Talon monster descended upon a group of a Six Fangs Fighter, a Five Fangs Fighter, and a cripple. How in the world did they come out uninjured?”
“Third, the report said that someone witnessed a huge formation before a light fell down. Judging from the corpse of the Wight Wolf, it must be attacked by that light and die. That light should be some sort of skill or ability from a cultivator. When Feng Luotian and Sun Wuji reported about the incident one month ago, they did not mention anything about it. Why?”

Wei Ci: “…” He continued to quietly listen without saying a word.
First Elder continued: “Fourth, it is how Feng Luotian rises from being a cripple to Seven Fangs. One month ago, from a normal observation, he was definitely a cripple at that time. Now, I want to ask you, with your insane cultivating speed, what would be your cultivation level last month if you are now a Seven Fangs Fighter?”
Wei Ci honestly replied: “With the most hellish training I could bear, the answer would be Five Fangs, Master.”
First Elder: “Umm. Then what kind of treasure would be able to hide one’s cultivation for five levels?”
Wei Ci: “Demirium grade armament?”
First Elder: “That’s right. A grade higher than the one you were using, a Titanium grade armament: [Soul Suppression Amulet].”
“The number of Titanium grade armaments within the city can be counted by one’s finger, let alone Demirium grade. Do you know how valuable a single Demirium grade armament is? Not even Peacock Lord, the City Master, possess such an item.”
“These four amulets were acquired through various means and took a very long time for me to obtain four of them. Now back to the previous topic, which one do you think is more convincing between Feng Luotian has a Demirium grade armament in his possession, or Feng Luotian cultivate from a cripple to Seven Fangs in one month?”
Wei Ci: “This …” He could not choose either one because they were both unbelievable.
First Elder: “Hehe, don’t worry about it because even I do not have a certain answer either. But either of those speculations links to the real problem I was talking about.”
Wei Ci: “…”
First Elder: “There is some expert even stronger than Peacock Lord helping Feng Luotian in the dark.”
Wei Ci: “What!?”
First Elder: “It’s normal for a high-level expert to have a Demirium grade armament.”
“It’s normal for them to have a more heaven-defying means to cultivate a person than what we have in the city.”
“It’s normal for them to cast an overwhelming formation and obliterate a Talon monster in a single strike.”
“It’s normal for them to heal superficial injuries of Fang Realm younglings.”
“It’s normal for them to scare those people who planned the assassination witless, running while their mission failed.”
First Elder said it in series and still continued: “If such an expert requested them not to talk about it, then it’s normal for Feng Luotian and Sun Wuji to not have the courage to mention such a thing.”
“Both Peacock Lord and I already suspected this since the moment they came to report the incidence that day. They only described how they got attacked by the Wight Wolf, but they didn’t say a word about how they got out of it alive. And since that speculation had a high chance of being true, we tactfully chose not to ask them about it.”
“During this one month, that expert should approach Feng Luotian and make him achieve all those things today.”
“If he could recognize your bloodline instantly, then it should have been because he learned many things from that person. And also, the answer he gave when I asked about the Blade Tail Lions was too ambiguous. He clearly knows about the Lions yet acted like he knew nothing about them. He must get those blades from that person as well.”
“With such a person still around, we have to revise the plan … entirely. Thus, we can’t move right now. We just have to be careful and act depending on the situation. And try to gain any information regarding this mysterious person from Feng Luotian as much as possible.”
Wei Ci: “I understand now, Master.”
Even though he was quite shocked about someone stronger than Peacock Lord, the reasons his master gave him were very logical and convincing.
First Elder ordered: “You should go back to your place and try to make a breakthrough to the Talon Realm. At that time, there will be no one in the younger generation to stop you!!”
Wei Ci heavily nodded: “Yes, Master.”
As Wei Ci and his clones were about to leave, First Elder interrupted: “Hold on!!”
Wei Ci turned back to his master: “Yes, Master?”
First Elder gave another command: “Call out the rest!!”
Receiving an order from his master, Wei Ci closed his eyes, and not long after that, six figures flashed and appeared beside Wei Ci. These six also looked exactly the same as him.
So, in truth, he did not have just three clones, he had nine in total. That was the maximum number of clones he could create at his actual level of cultivation.
First Elder said: “Before going back to cultivate, have a bout with me. I want to see your full combat power.”
Wei Ci and all of his clones answered in unison: “Yes, Master!!”
