《Light of Returning Darkness》CH 61 : MASTER AND DISCIPLE (2)

“Ying Lizhua got the first ranking so I’ll take Ying Lizhua as my disciple. I think no one would object to this idea” said Peacock Lord.
As he got the strongest cultivator in the city to be his master, Ying Lizhua proudly walked towards Peacock Lord and become his disciple.
“If everyone can choose, then don’t mind this old man choosing as well.” Now, it was the First Elder’s turn to speak.
“Since their ability and skill have interested this old man, I’ll take the Wei brothers to be my disciples. Surely, everyone agrees with me.”
All the big shots nodded their head in approval.
After that, Mei Hongyi took his son under his wing. And the three elders set for the top three rankings were appointed to other qualified participants. At least, what he prepared was not for naught.
Feng Luotian: “Uncle Mei, can I ask for a request?”
Peacock Lord smiled in return: “Just say it, Tian’er. The fact that you presented us with a precious treasure can grant you any request from our clan.”
Feng Luotian: “I’ll speak frankly then. I think we should hold another exam for those who at least got one point from this exam.”
Once Mei Hongyi heard this, he immediately interfered: “What?! You got any problem with my exam?!”
Feng Luotian flatly commented: “Yes, Second Elder. This exam is too difficult, and we might have missed some promising cultivators.”
Mei Hongyi snarled: “It’s their own fault for being too weak.”
When the crowds heard this, they gnashed their teeth but still lowered their head and accepted it anyway, because it was the truth.
Peacock Lord: “What do you suggest, Tian’er?”
Feng Luotian answered: “The school should have a talent gauging tool. Use it to determine the talent of those who at least got one point from this exam. With this, we can still recruit some other talents into the school.”
Peacock Lord nodded: “Okay, we’ll do as you say.”
The rest of the participants who got at least one point, their eyes were beaming with hope. They felt only gratitude towards Feng Luotian that he vouched for them.
And with this, the entrance exam had come to its end.
However, there was one thing left unsettled.
Sun Wuji noticed that Mei Yue’er was now busy talking with her father and grandfather. He gave a signal to Feng Luotian, then they both unlink their Theríon and left the party and arrived before Mei Hongli.
Sun Wuji greeted him with a sneering question: “Where do you think you are going, Young Master Hongli?” He borrowed the title his men used to call him but in the opposite tone of the respectful one.

“You!!” Mei Hongli stumbled back a few steps. The last person he wanted to meet today was these two. Actually, right now, he wished that he could fly away as fast as possible.
“Y-You two, why are you blocking the way? J-Just state your business!!” Mei Hongli himself knew very well what they had come here for, but he was acting ignorant, not wanting to admit defeat.
Feng Luotian shook his head: “Don’t tell me you forget about the bet we have. You reminded me quite a few times before and during the exam. I, on the other hand, remember it as clear as day. Do you plan on running away from your words?”
“W-What are you talking about? W-What bet?” Mei Hongli was insisting on his feigned ignorance.
Sun Wuji started to get annoyed: “Stop with your stupid performance!! I too remember every word clearly as the bet was this … If you could take the top ranking in this entrance exam of Peacock School, then Brother Feng would have to stop speaking to Sister Mei and stay as far away from her as possible forever. But if you couldn’t, then you would have to only do things that would benefit Mei Clan and protect this city with your life on the line forever. That is what you agreed on. Don’t even think of reneging on it, you cheating bastard!!”
Feng Luotian added: “And since you couldn’t take the top ranking as you said you would, then you have to follow the losing term of the agreement. Never mind about protecting the city with your life, because right now there is still no disaster falling upon the city just yet. However, after today, you have to only do things that would benefit your Mei Clan, that’s equal to not do things that would cause a loss to your Mei Clan, such as …”
He started to raised his index finger and the subsequent ones as he listed the examples:
“You can’t drink any wine if it was not for the benefits of your clan, so you can only drink it in the social and business party, otherwise, your clan will lose money for nothing!!”
“Second, you can’t go to any brothel any longer because it will not generate any profit but at the same time only a loss just to buy you a moment of pleasure.”
“Third, you can’t use any money from your clan just to hire someone to bully other people like you always do in your spare time.”

“However, in the previous three examples, if you can produce your own income, then feel free to drink, visit a brothel or hire the bullies as much as you want with that money. But I don’t think you know how to make your own money, right, Young Master Hongli!!”
Mei Hongli’s expression was getting uglier and uglier as he listened to Feng Luotian’s demand. He did not expect that to only do things that would benefit his own clan would be this difficult, at least for him. Because he often did exactly as Feng Luotian said on a daily basis to satisfy his own nerves.
Contrastingly, Sun Wuji’s complexion was getting more and more content as he too did not know that there was another side to this easy stake. If Mei Hongli could not do all these things, his mind would go mad in just a few days.
But that was not all of it.
Feng Luotian continued: “Those were just some examples that you couldn’t do. Now let’s start from what you … have to do to benefit your clan.”
Then he started raised his finger once again.
“First, train as hard as you can and stop spending the clan’s monster cores for nothing. Use your body more than your status to get stronger on your own.”
“Second, carry out the clan’s missions and expand your horizon outside the city. In other words, work your ass off when you take a break from your training for the prosperity of the clan.”
“Third, if you notice any conspiracy or traitor within the clan …”
Feng Luotian paused a bit to see Mei Hongli’s reaction, and exactly as he thought, once the word ‘conspiracy’ and ‘traitor’ were said, Mei Hongli was getting agitated as his sweat pouring out from all over his body.
After Feng Luotian caught all of that, he continued: “You have to notify your clan chief as fast as possible.”
“So, even Mei Hongli knows something about it. But with his fondness of Yue’er, he should have disagreed with the assassination. Maybe he only knows just a tip of an iceberg, but not the whole plan. I must find an opportunity to make him talk.”
Mei Hongli could not hold it anymore and lash at Feng Luotian: “Who are you to tell me what to do?! My father is a high and mighty elder of the Mei Clan. You are just trash!! God’s cripple son!!”
His mind was in disorder, not realizing that the title was of no meaning any longer, so Feng Luotian did not mind one bit. Actually, he was never got angry at being called that either.
However, Sun Wuji felt otherwise as he loudly retorted: “Mei Hongli, you bastard!! Not only you reneged on your words, but you also dared to insult my brother!!”
Once he got his emotion over his logic, only a few could stop him: “Hmph!! Tell me!! If you’re the one who won and told Brother Feng to stay off Sister Mei forever, after that he did not listen to you, then how would you feel, huh? Would you let him walk away with that?!”
“Is that true?” The voice from one of ‘a few’ was heard, making Sun Wuji freeze from head to toe. As for Feng Luotian, he face-palmed himself and shook his head. There was no going back now.
Mei Yue’er and Tu Lingxi arrived at the previous group of three.
Mei Yue’er coldly asked: “So there’s something after all. And to think that you actually used me as a stake, Luotian!!” Anyone could notice that she was very angry at the moment.
Feng Luotian calmly explained: “Yue’er, listen to me. I’m always confident that I’ll win this match. And even if I lost, I have many ways to make Mei Hongli revoked that bet. So, you don’t have to be this angry. Aren’t we win in the end? It’s not like we …”
Mei Yue’er shouted: “SHUT UP!!” Tears started to flow out of her eyes, then she lightly muttered under her breath: “You really don’t understand, do you?”
Immediately after that, Mei Yue’er ran away from the scene.
Feng Luotian called: “Yue’er!!” But she did not turn back.
Tu Lingxi gave Feng Luotian a glance and said: “I thought you’re smarter than this!!” After the harsh comment, Tu Lingxi followed Mei Yue’er and comforted her.
Feng Luotian frowned: “Wha…?”
“In the past life, she was much more mature than this. After I reasoned with her, she always understood what I meant. Why?” Even the reincarnator, Feng Luotian, missed out on something so simple … Mei Yue’er now was just fourteen, not an adult when they first met in his past life.
