《Light of Returning Darkness》CH 60 : MASTER AND DISCIPLE (1)

After seeing his son was taken care of, Heron Lord turned his attention back to Feng Luotian, eagerly demanding the answer.
Feng Luotian knew this would happen, so he already prepared an answer beforehand: “I met four Blade Tail Lions when I was traveling in the Warland Thicket in this past month, so I only acquired four tails. As you must have seen me using two of them already, I only got two left.”
Feng Luotian touched his spatial ring and took out another two blades: pitch-black and flame-red, similar to the previous two. The crowds gasped in astonishment, nothing but greed was swimming within their eyes, ready to prance at Feng Luotian if they had got the chance.
Heron Lord’s hands were shaking as much as his voice: “M-M-My little lord, c-c-can I …?”
The high and above Lord of the Divine Bird City was stuttering like a patient with disorder speech on the sight of these two blades. Feng Luotian held the flame blade towards Heron Lord and smiled: “Let this be a gift to the He Clan for the contribution that Brother He Chen helped us get better rankings in the exam.”
“WHAT?!”
“The He Clan got it just like that!!”
“They’re damn lucky to have God’s son’s friend as a son!!”
“Yeah, even though he’s not so strong, he must have something more to him than meet the eyes.”
One sentence from Feng Luotian caused the crowd to go into a huge commotion and also put Heron Lord in the spot where he had never been before.
While Heron Lord had never owed anyone a debt, with this, he had owed a big one to his forgotten son. The position of He Chen within his heart drastically raised upon one gesture of gratitude from Feng Luotian. And that was exactly Feng Luotian’s intention.
Heron Lord immediately understood the underlying sense within Feng Luotian’s words. He received the item and heavily nodded: “Don’t worry, my little lord. I’ll treat my son more fairly in the future. And if you have any other request, please come to my clan and I’ll personally carry it out for you.”
Feng Luotian respectfully cupped his hand: “Thank you very much, Clan Chief He. I’ll visit the He clan and have a good chat with Brother He again in the future.”
Heron Lord nodded once more and grinned from ear to ear looking at the item in his hand.
What he wanted was not the Titanium weapon itself, but rather the chance to create them. As one of the cultivators who wished to strive in the cultivation world as a forger, he needed experience, knowledge, and comprehension to understand more about how to create armaments, such as weapons, armors, and other accessories.

If he could create a higher-grade armament, it would give him much more knowledge than those of lower-grade. It could be called a breakthrough in a sense. Then after that, he would be able to create a weapon with even higher grade than Titanium.
As for the item created by him? He would select the strongest two to three pieces to protect himself and sell the rest, then buy more materials and forge more. This was the life of a forger.
It had been almost five decades that he lived but Heron Lord had only got one chance to create a Titanium armament. Now, he got at least five more chances. That was why, to Heron Lord, a little gift from Feng Luotian could not just be repaid with treasures or money, it must be a favor that he had to personally carry out to soothe his sense of owing a debt.
Feng Luotian presented the black blade to Peacock Lord: “Uncle Mei. I’ll give another one to Mei Clan as they’ve been taken care of me since I was a child.”
Peacock Lord was not a forger, so he did not become so emotional when receiving the item. Nonetheless, he was proudly smiling as he always thought of Feng Luotian like his own son.
Peacock Lord disregarded the item as he passed it to the First Elder to keep, then he placed his both hands on Feng Luotian’s shoulders: “Tian’er, just the fact that you’re free from your previous condition already is the greatest gift to this old man. We will use this item you gave and forge it as weapons that would only be used to protect the city. You wouldn’t mind that, would you, Tian’er?”
Feng Luotian gladly replied: “Of course not, Uncle Mei!!”
First Elder joined in and asked: “By the way, Luotian. How did you manage to get ahold of such items? Obtaining one was already impossible for any cultivator, yet you got four at the same time. That makes me very curious.”
Feng Luotian scratched his head and foolishly answered: “I don’t know. I think I was just lucky to find them.”
The grown-ups could only exchange their glances at one another, not knowing what to say. Only the First Elder, his expression slightly changed upon hearing the answer, then quickly hid it before anyone noticed.
Next was the awarding ceremony where Ying Lizhua won first place and got the late-stage Talon core.
Eagle Lord was not only bragging to the people on his left and right nonstop as if the feat was his own, but also cursing those people for not having descendants as great as his own. These victims could only roll their eyes at the Eagle Lord’s overbearing shamelessness. Even so, they accepted the fact that Ying Lizhua got the first ranking.

Although he did not contribute as much as Feng Luotian in their final fight, Ying Lizhua was still the one who got the most points before taking the strongest clone, with an exception of one cheater.
Following that, Mei Hongyi announced the final agenda of the Peacock School’s entrance exam: Appointing elders to the top three.
As he had already set certain elders to the masters of these three, Mei Hongyi began his speech: “I have already said at the beginning of the exam that the top three rankings will have the chance to become disciples of our school’s elders right away. I’ll start off with the third-ranking: Sun Wuji!!”
Sun Wuji let out a complaint in an instant: “I won second with Sister Mei, why am I the third-ranking?”
Mei Yue’er indifferently commented: “Because you’re weaker than me, you idiot.”
Sun Wuji: “What? Who said that?”
Feng Luotian smiled and calmed his brother down: “No one said it, but since your cultivation is one level lower than her, so it’s common sense to think that she’s stronger. Just let it go for now.”
Sun Wuji: “Cultivation levels are not enough to say who’s stronger!!” He was still brooding over the matter, but he chose to let it pass as Feng Luotian suggested.
Mei Hongyi readdressed his speech: “Ahem, the third-ranking: Sun Wuji will be a disciple of …”
“I’ve got something to say.”
Before Mei Hongyi said the name of the elder, a voice interrupted his speech again. But instead of getting annoyed, Mei Hongyi quietly retreated and bowed to the voice owner as it was Mei Hengkong, Mei Clan’s Supreme Elder.
Mei Hengkong stood up and said: “I’ll take Sun Wuji and Feng Luotian as my disciples!! Does anyone have an objection?”
Mei Hengkong said it with a low voice, but at the end of the sentence, he released full pressure upon the whole area. The air shook under his overwhelming suppressive force.
Even the top-tier figures were feeling a little hard to breathe, some youngsters at the Fang Realm were suffocated to the point of passing out. Luckily, it was only a split second of pressure, any longer than that there might be some death counts.
Everybody got a cold sweat on their body and thought in unison: “Who would dare to raise any objection to that?!”
Mei Hengkong: “Since there’s no objection then come to my side, my promising disciples.”
Feng Luotian and Sun Wuji quickly flashed in front of Mei Hengkong and knelt down kowtowing to perform a ceremony.
“Disciple Feng Luotian greets his master!!”
“Disciple Sun Wuji greets his master!!”
“Good!! Very good!! With this, there’s no one for you to fear within this city!! Hahaha!!”
Getting two good younglings as his disciples, Mei Hengkong laughed happily and loudly.
Feng Luotian and Sun Wuji got up and stood behind Mei Hengkong in excitement. This was probably much better than the elder chose by Mei Hongyi as they each gave a victorious smirk to him.
Mei Hongyi felt ridiculed and became enraged: “You brats!!”
But a voice interjected him … once again.
“Me, me, me, let me choose!! Since Father-in-law can choose his disciples, then I can too. Right, Father-in-law?”
Mei Xue’er raised her hand and requested some support from Mei Hengkong because she knew that no one would disagree if he was involved.
Mei Hengkong: “Of course, Xue’er. Choose away!!”
“YEEEEAAAAH!!”
Mei Xue’er jumped like a child who just got a present.
“Then Yue’er and another girl, umm, what’s her name?”
She rechecked the scoreboard and readdressed her previous sentence: “Then Yue’er and Tu Lingxi shall be my disciples. Does anyone have an objection? Father-in-law, do that move again to intimidate people for me because it’s so cool!!”
Mei Hengkong smiled: “Okay!!”
RUMBLE!!
Another crushing pressure slammed down the area.
Everyone thought in unison again: “Don’t torture us just to spoil your daughter-in-law, you freaking old fogey!!”
Nevertheless, no one said anything out loud.
Mei Xue’er cheerfully clapped her hand: “Since there’s no objection then come to my side, my promising disciples!!”
She perfectly copied her father-in-law’s words as she thought that was a very cool thing to say.
Mei Yue’er and Tu Lingxi looked at each other and gave a wry smile to one another. Mei Yue’er knew her mother really well, so she just shook her head and sighed in helplessness. As for Tu Lingxi, it looked like she had got herself a very strange master. Both of them walked in front of Mei Xue’er and performed the same ceremony as the previous group.

Silhouette
WARNING: THIS STORY HAS A SLOW START. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED. We all grew up hearing stories about heroes and villains, but what would we do if we were to be part of one? One night, a bioweapon escaped from its laboratory in Zalcien, only to die in a dark alley. One night, a young man lent a helping hand, only to die alone in the dark. One night, a deity of death saw two lost souls and offered one a second chance in the other's body. Now a strange creature made of darkness, James has to deal with his new form in a strange new world where superpowers, heroes and villains are commonplace, far away from his home. Watch as he learns how to use his powers, as he meets allies and enemies and how, when facing the paths of heroism and villainy, he chooses a third way somewhere in between. Follow the story of James, a lost Earthling soul, as he becomes Silhouette, the mysterious power in the shadows. Greetings fellow humans. This is my first story on Royal Road and my first long-term project written in English, so I do hope you will have some mercy in your heart when reading. So, as you may have understood, this is a story with super-heroes - which is quite ironic for my first story considering all of the other ones planned are fantasy - and as such will take place in a modern-like setting. Despite dark themes and gory scenes making their way into the story, it is still a super-hero world with the logic that matches, so expect characters to survive nuclear explosions without a scratch and yet to get defeated by a rubber ducky - as well as similar dark humor, thus the comedy part.
