《The Supernatural Case of an Accidental Time Traveler》War - Part 048

Merlin didn’t look like he really wanted to come with us or at the very least he didn’t want to be around any of us. However, he still wanted to come along. I was cautious of him though I didn’t think he would try anything yet. Especially since Langston and a ton of Danes were around. Killing Arthur in front of the Danes would make everyone think he sided with them. It just wasn’t a smart play on his part.Setting out towards the Danish camp we rode towards them calmly. The Danes, seeing us, decided to come out to meet us across the grassy plain.
“What do you want?” one of the Danes asked. Arthur, Langston, and Merlin all looked confused by what he asked.
“He said, what do you want?” I said to them. Despite how awful this mask was, it did have some perks. Perhaps, if I still have this in the future then I could become a translator.
“We wish to discuss a truce and ceasefire with your leader.” Arthur said. I translated it to the Dane who looked a bit relieved by what Arthur said.
“Come with us. Our leader will be pleased to hear that you have come.” the Dane said as he led us away. That really didn’t need any translating as the Dane was waving for them to follow him.
Going into the encampment the Danes around us looked to be mixed with anger and fear. Some were weeping from the loss of a friend or from the pain of their own injuries. Others were resting and some were preparing food and other such things. There was no doubt that they hated us. However, we still walked in without the slightest bit of hesitation.
The Dane led us to a large tent with several men standing guard. With a nod the guards opened up the cloth door to the tent and we were led inside. The tent was filled with a large table, a cot, and a small altar which bore several broken ornaments. Before the altar was a young man who was standing with a stoic stance. The Dane left us alone with the young man.

“Do you seek a ceasefire?” the man asked in perfect english.
“We do.” Arthur said.
“I must say that I am unable to refuse your request. You have defeated many of my men within the past hour. However, I am not able to agree to your request either. My men wish to see valhalla and they will die pointlessly to do so.” the man said.
“But Valhalla does not exist. Freya has told me-” Merlin began to speak.
“I know! Freya, the last of our gods, has left this world. She died on this soil did she not?” the man interrupted.
“How could you know that?” Merlin asked.
“My family has served the gods of our forefathers since the dawn of our people. These ornaments were theirs and they acted as a link between us and them. When they break then it means that they have died. As you can see, all of them are broken. Thus, I know there is no hope for us. I also know that Valhalla is simply a place on earth, not a heavenly realm.” the man said.
“That is true. Though, who are you? And if you know Valhalla does not exist then why seek it?” Merlin asked.
“Valhalla is more of an idea, a dream to these people. Why should I stop them from dreaming? As for who I am, I am one of the last seers of this world. Blessed with the ability to see the future. However, I have now lost that ability. My last vision was that of a wise king being slain by his advisor. However, I have yet to discern who it may be.” the man said solemnly.
“I already know who it is. I have known for some time now.” Arthur said. Both Merlin and the Seer looked at Arthur with a confused look.”Merlin, if you are to kill me then do so. However, I never intended for your wife to be killed.” Merlin looked at him with comforting eyes. An honest tear seemed to be welling up.

“I know.” Merlin said before approaching Arthur for what looked like a hug. As Merlin approached him though he stopped. Looking down Arthur saw a blade very similar to my own stabbing him through the chest. Merlin’s eyes went cold as he stared Arthur down.
“I’m sorry, but I can’t let this crime go unpunished. You were my greatest friend and I’m sorry.” Merlin said
“Merlin, damn you!” I yelled. Drawing my sword, I swung my blade at Merlin. Merlin quickly grabbed Excalibur from Arthur’s scabbard and clashed excalibur with my sword. Langston drew his sword out of habit but he didn’t know who to fight. The man who was at the altar before sat down and watched as the two of us fought.
“This is what he deserved for doing nothing to protect my wife when he could have done so easily.” Merlin said to me as he jumped to the side and ripped Excalibur away from my sword. Before I could do anything else Mordred shot out of my pendant yelling like a madwoman. She was dressed in her full armor and without holding back at all released an engulfing purple flame of Clarent.
“Merlin, I’ll kill you!” Mordred yelled. Now Langston was even more confused. However, the flames were far too uncontrollable to allow him to get close. Thus, he stood back and watched. The Seer watched as flames surged through the tent without a care in the world. Some of the flames singed him yet he did not even flinch. Those guarding it from the outside began to panic as the tent was suddenly engulfed in flames. The soldiers that were nearby began running towards the tent with their weapons drawn.

The Drifting World
In the year 2104, a brand new VRMMO called The Drifting World is released promising realism, adventure, and freedom like no other. Follow Noah as he builds his character Chemistree, a Treant rogue, and uncovers the mysteries of a destroyed virtual world. Expect guilds, dungeons, skills, stats, and, levels as he progresses through the main story of the game and tries to uncover what secrets the game has to hide. Okay, stereotypical introduction over. This is my first time trying to release a story I've written, so feedback is welcome. The premise is nothing special, I just want to do it well. A lot of similar stories I've read make me ask "what kind of game would work like that?" Sometimes believable gameplay elements give way for a more immersive story, but I hope to make that as balanced as possible rather than going for cheap thrills. Well, I guess we will just see how this goes.

Mordheim: Servants of The Damned (A Warhammer Fantasy Fiction)
“The Great Library,” Stated the stranger with a pause. “You know of it?”“Of course I do. In the Merchant’s Quarter?”“Yes, in the Merchant’s Quarter. I have gathered that there is an… artefact of importance within its walls.” Slowly, the figure produced a rusted key from the furls of his robes and held it in a black-gloved hand. “This opens the door to its chambers. It is the grimoire of Gunnar von Krugenheim, and I believe that it would serve better in the world than locked away in a dusty room.” Behind the cursed walls of Mordheim, warbands and gangs of all stripes are embattled in constant wars for resources and power. The cursed city attracts throngs in the thousands, searching for treasures, artefacts, power, and sometimes all three. The Cult of the Hidden Brethren is no exception, and when an opportunity to extend their reach is discovered, the cultists are eager to take the opportunity. However, not all is set in stone, and soon the cultists discover that the lure of power alone may not be enough to give them the drive required to see their quest done... --- Mordheim: Servants of the Damned is a fanfiction set in the world of Warhammer Fantasy, which is not owned by me but by the company Games Workshop. I of course, lay claim to nothing in this story but the characters I have created, and the core events of the story itself. This is my first true foray into fantasy writing, let alone Warhammer Fantasy, therefore any feedback is welcome. (It should be noted as well, the cover art is merely an artwork I found online and is not mine, therefore I do not lay claim to that either.)
