《The Supernatural Case of an Accidental Time Traveler》War - Part 045

The next morning I was up around dawn and grabbed my bag to head out. Medea wanted to see me off and since this would probably be the last time I would see her for a long time I obliged her. To be honest though, Merlin was the one most on my mind as we set off. After hearing what he said to himself last night I knew I had to stay close to Arthur as much as possible. Saving him wasn’t possible as Tim has repeatedly shown me. However, if I alter the events just enough then maybe I can make it so Merlin loses any advantages he may have had before. It was a long shit but it was worth a try. Especially since I didn’t know when Tim was going to let me travel through time again.
After giving Medea a hug goodbye I climbed onto my horse and rode up to where Arthur was. With all the commotion going on I waited until he could hear me but no one else could and told him what I heard Merlin saying last night. He sighed in response and looked at me with glassy eyes.
“I figured as much. He has every right to kill me at this point. Perhaps I should have listened to you better? Though, it is in the past now. There is nothing more to be done.” Arthur replied.
“Even if you had listened to me it wouldn’t have changed anything. Freya still would have died and Merlin would have killed you.” I said with a sad tone.
“I’m guessing you already tried a different way?” Arthur asked.
“Yes, and it failed miserably.” I said.
“Then so be it. Perhaps, if those Christian monks speak the truth about a forgiving God then I hope He can forgive me.” Arthur said. I wanted to say something back but nothing came to mind so I stayed quiet.

The boredom of riding with the dead silence for so long ate at me. There was nothing worthy to think about and the forests and plains we passed by held nothing of interest. Backing off a bit I fell back to where Mordred and Langson were. Both of them seemed equally bored and didn’t have much to talk about so I decided to say something.
“So what do you two think about all this?” I asked. Both of them looked at me with somewhat blank stares.
“It’s awful.” Mordred said.
“Agreed.” Langston said in response.
“Any further thoughts?” I asked.
“Not at all.” Langston said.
“It’s far too damn hot.” Mordred stated angrily.
“Alright, different question. What is your relationship to one another?” I asked. I would say I had a smug look. However, the mask made it impossible for others to notice it.
“What do you mean by that?” Mordred asked obliviously. Langston on the other hand seemed to blush a bit.
“I mean, are you two seeing each other?” I asked differently. Now Mordred realized where I was going with my question and began blushing even worse than Langston was.
“Not at all! We’re just friends and brothers in arms.” Mordred said. Langston seemed a little depressed by that answer but he didn’t let it show much. I just laughed in response. Neither of them seemed to enjoy my joking.
“Alright then. What’s with your mask? Why is it so damn creepy and why don;t you ever take it off?” Mordred asked.
“I wish I could tell you. It just kind of fused to my face and now it’s stuck there. As for why it’s so creepy, who knows.” I replied. Neither of them seemed content with that answer but they let it go.
After that we talked for a while about anything and everything we could think of. It was actually enjoyable and it helped pass the time. Though, I was still bored. Plus, my ass was starting to get sore from riding all day. It wasn’t a short ride either.

The Merchant Prince Book 1: Returning Home
Enter a world of deceit and assassins. Augustus DeCastellian is a member of a wealthy merchant family, with ports all over the known world. He is sent on a voyage to new lands to open trade routes, but when he returns he will need to fight, using his tools of manipulation and cunning, for what he is owed.Author's note: This story is somewhat slow-paced, especially in comparison to the norm on Royal Road. The first three chapters act almost as a prologue, to give you a feel for what the rest of the story will be like. So, I suggest new readers try to get to the end of chapter 3 before deciding if this story is for them.A few of my reviews have said that this story is abnormal for Royal Road. I agree with that sentiment, at least based on what I've read on the site. It was just an idea that was in my head, that I began trying to write once my hobbies were cancelled due to the virus. I found Royal Road after I started writing it. Honestly, it's probably not even tailored for the web-novel format. But it's the story I wanted to tell. Discord: https://discord.gg/sk63gep

Ouroboros Ascendant
Ouroboros Ascendant is a story about friends you meet on the internet, and then spend entirely too much time together hunting monsters, doing quests, earning experience, and risking your life. Except for Jack, Erin, Rory, and Layla, the video game they play together every Saturday isn’t nearly as real or as threatening as the primal world of Ayrgard. A mysterious force has drawn them across the darkness between realms for its own purposes, and they’ll need to survive monsters, politics, and a lurking threat they can’t yet imagine. In the interest of disclosure and ease of access, Ouroboros Ascendant features gay, bisexual, and straight main and supporting characters, and features elements of romance between some of those characters. However, OA is not a story about romance. If you're hungry for more chapters, there's always Patreon.
