《The Supernatural Case of an Accidental Time Traveler》War - Part 014

I didn’t know what to say. All three of these requests were absolutely doable. Plus, I had no problem with screwing Merlin over just because. That was less of a request and more of a nudge towards what I was already thinking about doing. The other two weren’t all that difficult either. That is, if nothing goes wrong…
“Thank you for showing me this.” I said to Elysif before handing it back to her and heading down the corridor to the main room and out into the pendant's main room. Both Mordred and Compton were both sitting down on one of the beds talking when I walked in. without any acknowledgement given I walked over, hoisted Iscarat’s lifeless corpse over my shoulder, and walked through the pendant’s portal without even looking.
Sure enough I appeared out of the pendant holding Iscarat’s body. Much to my surprise though I appeared not in a field of dead soldiers but instead in the woods. Staring into the eyes of the knight who woke me up earlier, who was squatting, with his pants down, over a hole, and unable to comprehend how I appeared out of thin air while he was taking a shit.
“Can I have my pendant back?” I said without breaking eye contact.
“Of course, SIr. I thought it was one of the enemy soldiers' pendant.” he said before making a pained grunt and holding the pendant out to me.
“Thank you.” I replied before taking the pendant back and placing it around my neck before walking away.
Once I arrived back at the fort I was hailed down by Galehaut who was walking with Lancelot. Galehuat looked a bit beat up but was smiling from ear to ear and was carrying his sword in a large sack over his shoulder. Lancelot on the other hand was covered in a mix of sweat and blood while looking very tired.

“What can I do for you?” I asked Galehuat as I wasn’t sure why he hailed me down.
“I wanted to thank you for helping me out back there.” Galehuat said.
“Well, you’re welcome.” I replied.
“What’s with the old man?” Lancelot asked.
“He’s an old friend who just passed away. I was hoping to ask Arthur if he could be given a knight’s burial.” I said.
“We were just about to go see him. Galehuat apparently broke his sword and needs Merlin to ask the Lady of the Lake if she can repair it for him. This is the second time he’s broken it.” Lancelot said.
“It’s not my fault that they keep breaking.” Galehuat said as if he was about to pout.
“You’re aren’t Galahad. You can’t break your sword every battle.” Lancelot said.
“Doesn’t he have a magic sword like the rest of us?” I asked, unsure if that was something all Knights of the Round Table had.
“Well, no. We tell him it’s magic because he kept breaking his magic sword. It was agreed that he was far too irresponsible to have anything more than a regular sword after the third time. That hasn’t hindered him though.” Galehuat said.
“I see.” I said unsure if I should chuckle at that or not.
“Anyways, we’re going to see Arthur so I suggest you walk with us.” Lancelot said.
“Alright.” I said as we continued down the road on the inside of the fort. After a few minutes of walking they stopped at a small cottage log house with windows covered in cloth. Going inside I saw that the house was much larger than it looked on the outside. A large table sat in the middle in which several knights including Gwaine and Galahad were all seated around. Most of which were asleep or about to be.

“Merlin!” Lancelot called out.
“He’s in the back. Arthur is with him.” Galahad said from where he sat with his head buried in his arms like a pillow. Gwaine popped his head up to see who else had come in with Lancelot only to give me a strange look at the sight of the dead old man hanging over my shoulder.
“Who’s that?” Gwaine asked groggily.
“An old friend who died of old age a bit ago. I was hoping we could give him a knight's burial today.” I said.
“I see.” Gwaine said before laying his head back on the table and going back to sleep.

Points of Light - An Oral History of the Collapse
Humanity endures. The phrase is not only an informal slogan of the reformed United Nations, but a rallying cry the world over. Even in the face of extermination, we struggled, we fought, and we endured. But just how close did we actually come? In our darkest hour, how many steps separated our species from oblivion? And are we even safe now? Were the mistakes made by earlier generations really so obvious? Or are they only so blatent when we look back with the advantage of hindsight? If so, what horrors might be staring us in the face even now that no one has the foresight to prevent? Drawn from thousands of interviews, as well as uncorrupted contemporary recordings and source documentation dating back to the early 2000s; Points of Light is a definative look at the last half century of upheaval, prosperity and carnage. It tells the tale of what happened, how it happened, who was responsible and most importantly, what we might be able to do to prevent it from happening again. This is a rewrite of a previously started fiction under a pen-name. Chapters will be updated every two days at 6:00 EST.
