《The Supernatural Case of an Accidental Time Traveler》Round Table - Part 074

Once I was down the hall a ways Lily grew from her fairy size to that of her human size and started walking beside me. I could tell she was concerned with how I was just acting based on the fact that she looked like she wanted to say something about it. To be more specific, she looked like she wanted to speak up from the moment Arthur started yelling.
“Lily, I know you want to say something. I believe in free speech so speak your mind please. In fact the silence is making me uncomfortable.” I said.
“Are you okay?” she asked. I wasn’t expecting a question like that so it kind of threw me off guard.
“Yes. Why do you ask?” I answered with a bit of confusion.
“You just seem odd. When you talk with everyone you seem more reserved and don’t seem to reveal everything about yourself. I don’t think anyone else has picked up on it yet because you don’t show it. However, when you spoke to that woman you were very unyielding. So much so that you didn’t seem like yourself.” she said.
“Is anyone listening inside the pendent?” I asked.
“Let me check.” she said before walking in front of me and touching the pendent so that she could go inside it. After a few seconds she appeared from it.
“Well?”
“No one’s listening. In fact, most of them are asleep.” she replied with a smile.
“I see. Well, I can’t exactly explain it but I have felt more uneasy since I arrived in this time period. Part of it was because I was confused and ultimately scared. I just don’t want the others to see me like that. It’s just easier to deal with these kinds of things when others aren’t worrying about you.” I said as we continued walking down the corridor.

“That does make sense, but is any of what you’re doing going to make you happy?” she asked. I didn’t really know how to answer that. The problem was that I didn’t know what I wanted. It was the same thing as before I woke up in London. Nothing seemed to drive me accept the natural desire to keep living. Now though, I wasn’t sure. The people I met have made me happy and I just wanted to stay with them as it was. However, whether it be the will of Tim or not I don’t think that will happen.
“I don’t know. At this point I’m just going through the motions. In fact, I don’t even know why I’m fighting so hard to stop Merlin other than the fact that the people I care about want to stop him. Strangely enough, I don’t disagree with his desires. His methods are a bit extreme but he’s not wrong. If humanity was wiped out then who would fight wars? Who would be left to fight? That said, as a human I want to protect humanity despite our flaws. We are evil creatures that live off of our own greed and selfish desires to keep living but that’s okay. I care for people so even if I reject humanity I will still fight to protect it because the ones I care about would want me to fight.” I said. Lily stared at me with what looked like a mix of shock and awe.
“Keep talking like that and you’ll be made fun of.” she said with a snicker.
“Hey! I’m spilling my heart out here so the least you could do is be supportive.” I said with a bit of annoyance.
“But you said that you were an advocate for free speech a moment ago. I’m just using that to say what I feel.” she replied before running off down the corridor with a voustrous laugh.

“Come back here you little shit!” I yelled as I chased after her. As soon as I did her laughter turned into screaming as she desperately tried to outrun me. Maid servants watched humorously as I chased the short fairy girl through the castle like some kind of madman. Many of them broke out into laughter at the sight of it while others looked very confused.
Eventually I was able to grab her and ended up carrying her back to the room under my arm. Even then she was kicking and yelling for me to let her go I just ignored her along with all of the weird looks I got from the maid servants that didn’t see me chasing her before. Some of the ones that did see me chase her down the halls commented on how playful of a parent I was which set Lily off as she was probably older than I was. However, her size didn’t help her much. I wonder if she can grow taller or shorter at will? Probably not since she would have by now if she could.

Earth's First Dungeon
Reginald Montgomery was a high class Rules Lawyer, specializing in the 'art' of Min-Maxing a Character. He had been the secret behind the ability of the Guild 'Eternal Gamer' being able to obtain the World First Clears of various MMOs for the last five years. The political entities of the world had hidden the imminent approach of a gigantic meteor, of similar size to the one that theoretically wiped out the dinosaurs, until it was able to be spotted by high powered astronomical telescopes. The United Nations sends nukes into a crater located deep on the meteor, breaking it into millions of smaller fragments, except for around two areas, where there was a building that looked like an old school Roman temple and one where there was a giant metallic cube. The cube crashed into Reginald's backyard, and his 'gamer' senses were itching at the chance of supremely valuable loot. Upon investigating, he is injected with a control crystal for a 'Construction Core', but when it releases an extremely high density of pressurized mana, his body seizes up and the Core draws his mind into it before merging the control crystal back into the Core and retreating into the Cube and digging itself deeper. Two months later, Reginald becomes aware again, only to find out that nothing is as it was and he is now the Earth's First Dungeon...

Suddenly, five individuals find themselves in possession of more potential than they can imagine, and are left trying to find their place in a rapidly changing world. The world is changing, but into what? This story follows Chris and four other humans as they reenter the world as harbringers of the system, dragging chaos in their wake. Edit: I wrote myself into a corner with this one, and its only after taking a writing class that I realize where I went wrong, and it needs a complete rewrite from the top. I considered taking it down, but i'm going to leave it up as a reminder to myself to plan out my magic systems a little better.
