《The Supernatural Case of an Accidental Time Traveler》Round Table - Part 066

Oberon charged forward with such speed that he seemed blurry. However, even though I couldn’t see his practice sword I could tell where he was going to hit based on his past attacks and went to deflect it. Just as predicted his practice sword landed against mine but I couldn’t deflect it. The force was just too great and so I held the practice sword against the side of my body as his blow sent me sliding to the left.
Without any warning he swung at me again from the other side which I had to jump to the right as I blocked to avoid getting hit. Like before though I was starting to anticipate his movements even though I couldn’t really see them clearly. However, I was still only human so blocking at that speed was a challenge.
“What’s wrong? Fight me like you want to kill me!” Oberon said excitedly as he went to jab his practice sword towards my chest. I was just barely able to deflect it from my chest but the practice sword was still able to clip my shoulder. When it did the practice sword pierced through my skin and into my flesh, sending me spinning back in pain.
“I would if I wasn’t going to get killed.” I said as my shoulder healed up. Oberon’s practice sword came flying at me again from above this time. Like before I blocked it by raising mine over my head and attempted the same move from before. His blade slipped towards my hilt as I turned it to jab him. This time though he jumped backwards to avoid my jab.
“You have to be more creative than that.” he said mockingly. As he did the mist around him seemed to be getting thicker to the point that when I breathed a little in I felt sick to my stomach. It almost reminded me of the feeling I got when I returned from the world of stars but this time I wasn’t falling.

Again he charged at me full force. This time though I couldn’t tell where he was attacking from. The mist made it look as though he had a practice sword on either side of his body, ready to strike. With no other choice I made a hasty retreat by jumping backwards and swinging behind a tree. He shot around the tree the same way I had come from and swung at my body. Thankfully I didn’t have to block as Elysif used her blood strings to yank me up into the tree before I could get hit.
“Good, very good! You don’t even have to communicate to know what the other wants. I’m impressed.” Oberon said with an impressed tone. I had no clue what he was talking about though as I was just hiding behind a tree. Elysif just happened to yank me up of her own volition. I’m glad she did but I had nothing to do with that.
“Can we take a break? I kinda don’t want to fight you.” I asked before hoping from the tree down to the forest floor and taking off running.
“No can do. It’s only been ten minutes and you still haven’t beaten me at full strength.” Oberon said as he gave chase.
“So if I beat you, we can stop?” I asked as I continued running.
“Of course.” he replied as he got close enough to me to attack. Though as he tried to attack, Compton’s sword flew through the air in front of him and the rope attached to it caught his neck, clotheslining him. He fell back against the forest floor in a bit of pain. I stopped running for a moment to catch my breath and to also make fun of him a little.

“Does that count?” I asked as I tried to stifle my laugh.
“N-nope.” he wheezes out with a cough before slowly getting back up. Since he was down I took this opportunity to attack him. Though that was a mistake as he deflected my attack and rammed the pommel of his practice sword into my stomach. This caused me to fall to my knees in pain as I desperately tried not to vomit but to no avail. I then received a swift strike to the back of the head with Oberon’s practice sword. My sight went blurry before I collapsed on the ground and started to see the world of stars.
“You want a tip?” I heard Tim ask as I lifted my head to see the deity floating around with its legs crossed. The hair on the side of Tim’s head floated around as if there was no gravity. Though I knew there was since I was sitting on the ground which only reflected the stars like a very shallow pool.
“What kind of tip?” I asked, not entirely trusting the deity that has screwed me over so many times before.
“You want to move just as fast as he is; To use the abilities that I possess to move through space as well as time?” Tim asked with more emphasis.
“That would be awesome but to be honest, you suck.” I said with an annoyed tone.
“Oh, how so?” Tim said in an almost sarcastic way.
“You dump me here and let me get tormented by what I’ve been told are basically your children. Which you abandoned so that they could fight each other for your amusement. All of these people that have been helping me are suffering too so I’m a little pissed.” I replied angrily.
“Well, at least you’re still amusing.” Tim said to himself before landing on the ground and walking towards me. “You see, when you’ve been around as long as I have you start to lose sense of why you ever existed. Eventually, you even wish for death. The only thing is that I can’t die, I can’t even know the reason for my existance. All I can do is fuck around and find out. though , you humans exist with a purpose. Death is your purpose and although many of you try to deny it you will all eventually taste it. I am simply helping you along. That is my purpose, to allow humans to experience their own fullfilled purpose.” The diety explained whilst walking towards me and patting my head.
“So you think that it’s okay?” I asked with a bit of shock.
“Of course. I am not bound by the same morals that you humans have come up with. I will do as I please and if you hate me for it then so be it. Your predecessors knew well enough to not question me yet you sass me every time we talk. To be honest, I only continue to help you because I enjoy watching you struggle but only for so long. You need a little push to keep moving on or else I will get bored.” Tim said with a condescending and proud smile.

OUTLIERS
30 years ago brought the first superhumans, regular people given great power seemingly at random. 15 years ago brought the paranormals, stranger and often weaker in their abilities, but far more numerous. Today, the world holds its breath . . . Or at least, it should. Most people, though, are just trying to get on with their lives; some successfully, some less so. It's a sensible goal, but it can be hard when shadowy conspiracies and worldwide N.G.O.s are turning your city into a proxy battleground over world-shattering secrets. It’s bad enough when you’ve just woken up with superpowers and terrorists are holding your school hostage. It’s even worse if you’re an illegal vigilante stuck in the middle of the whole Charlie Foxtrot after a supervillain raid drops vital information in your lap. For Hannah Eiling-Kingsford and Flint Perez, life is about to get a lot harder to get on with. ----- Outliers is a superhero story. Okay, so not so much superhero as vaguely superhero-ish. It's about two teenagers dealing with, among other things, new powers, psycho exes, mysterious datapads and a giant, secret war between the foremost powers-that-be, over information that could forever change the world. Again. You know, normal teenage stuff. Outliers contains some foul language and mild sexual references. It is a complete story, and can also be read on its own website. Any and all support is appreciated, and comments, questions and critiques are all expected and encouraged.
