《The Supernatural Case of an Accidental Time Traveler》Round Table - Part 058

After the initial chug of her wine she slowly downed the contents at a more relaxed pace. She seemed to enjoy her soak in the cool lake water as the alcohol slowly made her numb. To be honest, I wanted to join her but I had no reason to as I wasn’t nearly as overheated as her.
“I have a question, and you don’t have to answer if you don’t want to?” I asked.
“Of course.” she replied.
“If I told you that hypothetically, I saw the future and learned that you were going to be killed, what would you do?” I asked. She stared at me for a moment and then took another swig before answering.
“I would accept it. Life ends when we least expect it so a warning would be a blessing. Plus, I’ve pissed off a lot of people so it wouldn’t come to me as a surprise.” she said jokingly.
“Alright then. What if I also told you that your husband would kill Arthur afterwards and use Mordred to pull off some scheme.” I said. Her face changed quickly to that of a serious one. I almost seemed scared as she rose out of the water and walked on top of it to me. Behind her were flat ends of large blades sticking just at the water level under where her feet were. Once she was on land though they disappeared.
“You may think you're funny but I don’t like jokes that involve spreading horrid rumors about my husband. If you want to keep living then I suggest you stop lying. He sees Arthur as a son so I doubt that he would ever bring harm to him.” she said with a threatening look.
“I understand. However, I did say that it was hypothetical. So please don’t be mad for a hypothetical question.” I said, hoping that she wouldn’t impale me.

“Good. If you want to die then doing something like that will definitely get you killed.” she said before walking by me and towards her cottage. “You should probably go for today. You do have plenty of training to do, don’t you?”
“O-of course.” I said before she slammed the door. Since I obviously wasn’t welcome anymore I headed out through the path I was led down before and reached the hot spring.
“You idiot!” I heard from the pendant just before Mordred popped out.
“Wait, I don’t know what I did but please don’t hurt me.” I said in desperation.
“You told the Lady of the Lake that she would get killed and that Merlin would kill Arthur! Are you insane?” she asked angrily as she grabbed my collar.
“I figured I could figure out something about Merlin.” I said.
“Yeah, I understand that but you can’t just say stuff like that to her. Her especially.” Mordred said.
“Okay, so she’s dangerous. Even though I could see that she was dangerous, I wanted to know. Stopping Merlin should be our main goal.”
“I know, but she’s too much to deal with right now. She’s only around right now because she survived the Elder war through her strength. Pissing her off would end with all of our deaths.” Mordred stated.
“So I shouldn’t do anything that could piss her off. Like telling her her husband kills Arthur.” I replied.
“Exactly.”
“Anyways, I want to go to sleep. I have a day of getting hunted for sport to look forward to. Actually, I should probably eat first though.” I said, brushing her off.
“Don’t act like you don’t care.” she said angrily.
“The problem is that I do care. It’s just that since I can’t talk to her about it then there isn’t much else I can do right now.” I replied.

“I-I guess that’s true.” she said as she started following me.
“Well we should at least rest while we can. Anyways, how is Lily doing?” I asked.
“She was surprised by nearly everything in the pendant so it was a little difficult. Also she refused to put on any clothes so we had to force some on her. She’s currently getting her hair braided by Elysif.” she replied in a much calmer tone than her recent responses.
“Well that;s good. I had a feeling she would try and harm us as retribution for being forced to serve us by Oberon.”
“So you were using us to test if she was trustworthy?”
“In a way, yes. Though, I didn’t really have to as you did it on your own.” I said with a smile.

Trial of Champions
It all began with a family trip to an amusement park. How were any of us to expect being transported from Earth to participate in some "Trial of Champions," whatever that was supposed to be? Given only an hour to choose the Classes that would come to define our strengths, we were almost immediately torn away from one another and thrust into a deadly game of survival. It wasn't all bad, though, as terrifying as it could be from time to time. The supernatural and magical powers of the Classes were like something out of an RPG, complete with leveling up by killing monsters and completing so-called "Sub-Trials." And despite the juicy Experience to be gained from killing other Champion Contestants, not all of the participants were bloodthirsty murderers; some could be allied with, or even befriended. Even if it seemed like everyone who had been chosen for this Trial, no matter what universe they came from, was at least a little bit crazy. I would survive this till the end, and I'd make sure that my siblings and parents did as well, no matter how many times we were separated from one another. No matter how long it took. No matter what I had to do. --- A first-person litRPG incorporating classes inspired by D&D and other sources. If you like blue boxes but don't need to have huge lists of numbers to scratch your itch, you should be satisfied on that front. Each chapter is, in my word processing document, seven pages long (approximately 3300-3900 words). The Traumatizing Content warning is there because of discussions of certain topics. Nothing that I think deserves the warning actually happens in the story.
