《The Supernatural Case of an Accidental Time Traveler》Round Table - Part 018

Over the next several weeks the two worked together to get through training without letting Mordred’s secret out. A few days before training ended though a bell was rang and every initiate was called to arm themselves. Rather than the heavy leather armor they were given a mix of leather and chainmail armor. The armory had them each outfitted with a shield, shortsword, and spear before being called before the castle. Arthur sat atop a horse with leather armor on it in front of the castle and looked out before all of the knights. They waited for him to brief them on the situation so that they could be ready.
“Men! The Saxons have begun making more bold moves than before. We have received word that they have attacked one of our settlements to the east. Today we ride towards them so that we may rid them of this land. Though it seems that they have neighbors among them as we do. Some of you will see things that you could only imagine in your nightmares. However, I will not allow any of you to give your lives pointlessly. We shall become victorious and you shall protect your homeland!” Arthur shouted as he drew Excalibur. The crowd of knights below him yelled and hollered before charging down the road leading east with Arthur leading them.
Their running quickly ended after about two minutes as they realized that it was much further than they initially thought and they were getting tired. Funny enough they were only a few meters outside of Camelot when they decided to turn their charge into a march. Mordred and Elijah both weren’t entirely sure of what they were supposed to do but it seemed like everyone else did so they followed.
Having marched for nearly eight hours the initiates and knights alike set up camp and received dinner rations. Mordred’s feet were aching enough for her to consider stealing a horse to ride the next day. Thankfully she reconsidered that idea as she realized that Elijah and the rest of the initiates were in the same boat. It was then that Sir Gwaine walked up to the initiates and sat among them before speaking.

“All of you are just initiates and we never wanted you to experience battle before you had become full fledged knights. That said we are in difficult times so tonight you are all to be dubbed as knights. In the morning you will all be in the front lines as a wall of spears and shields. Arthur and those of the round table will ride ahead of you to take out the brunt of the group and the higher ranking knights shall take any stragglers that break through your wall.” Gwaine explained.
“So we’re all knights now?” Elijah asked.
“Yes, you’ll get a more formal knighthood at a later point but be proud.” Gwaine said with a smile to all the newly dubbed knights before standing back up and walking away.
The next morning everyone packed up camp within an hour and were marching continuously towards the approaching Saxon army. Around three in the afternoon they finally arrived within sight of the Saxon army and began to prepare for the oncoming battle. Being on the hill gave them the advantage so they waited as the army became gradually closer. It wasn’t until around three-thirty that they began to notice that some of the Saxon soldiers were of gigantic size and others were more like beasts than man. Around a thousand of them compared to the mere seven hundred in Arthur’s army.
“Formation!” Arthur yelled and he drew his sword. Facing the Saxon army as they began to charge up the hill. Mordred and Elijah both lined up with their shields facing the saxons and their spears pointed down the hill. Sir Kay stepped off of his horse before his body began to grow to the size of a house before charging forward holding a tree like a club. Sir Marrock morphed as well into a giant wolf before charging forward alongside him. As they both charged, Arthur pointed Excalibur at the oncoming army and charged as well. Lightning bolts shot from the clear sky sending much of the Saxon army flying.

Sir Gwaine and the other Knights of the round table all charged with the wall of shields and spears charged in unison behind them. As soon as the wall of shields clashed with the wall of Saxon soldiers blood spilled from the Saxon side. They couldn’t defend from the spears but there were some that did break through. One of which busted through one of the knights and crushed him under his own shield before going to attack Elijah. As he did, Mordred pulled her spear back and jammed the back end of the spear into the Saxon’s throat.
“Thanks!” Elijah said to Mordred.
“You’re welcome.” she replied before stabbing another Saxon in front of her.
Another came and slammed an axe into Mordred’s shield before yanking it from her hand. By this point in the battle they had lost their formation and were attacking any stragglers that remained.Mordred jumped back and jabbed the spear at the Saxon who grabbed it and yanked it from Mordred’s hands. As soon as he did he began to turn it to point it back at Mordred who had already lunged forward and slit the Saxon’s throat with her short sword.
There weren’t any more Saxons near her so she ran towards some of the other fights to see if she could help. As she did she saw Arthur on his feet and surrounded by soldiers . each one of them couldn’t get close as he would strike them down at inhuman speeds with Excalibur. She ran over to help him but before she could get there they were all already dead. She watched as he had each of them down with ease in awe. She couldn’t fathom how that could be her father.
As she watched she saw a Saxon charging towards Arthur with a spear. Running down she redirected the spear with her shortsword and then stabbed the Saxon in the eye with it. He screamed as the blade pierced through his eye socket and into his brain before he went silent. Arthur looked at Mordred with a somewhat surprised look.
“I guess that makes us even then?” Mordred said.
“I guess it does.” Arthur said casually. Mordred gave him a somewhat embarrassed smile before running off again.
“That felt a little strange.” Arthur said to himself before turning to face a small group of Saxon’s running towards him from the opposite direction.

Tower of Somnus
When humanity first encountered alien life, we were judged and found wanting. The Galactic Consensus interviewed our leaders and subjected us to a battery of psychological tests to determine our progress as a society. They found us to be selfish, wasteful, impulsive, and boorish neighbors. Earth was blockaded and our collective encounter with our extrasolar neighbors rapidly faded from memory. All they left behind was a hypercomm relay and a handful of subscriptions to a massively multiplayer game that participants played in their sleep. The Consensus said that it would let us interact with our neighbors in a controlled setting. That it would teach us to be better members of the galactic community. The megacorporations that controlled Earth ignored the game until they learned that the powers earned from clearing dungeons were just as real when day broke. Magic, supernatural abilities and rumors exploded from nothing and a subscription to The Tower of Somnus became a status symbol. Katherine ‘Kat’ Debs doesn’t have much, but it could be worse. Born in an arcology, she was assigned a job in the megacorporation that raised her almost as soon as she could work. Despite the stability of her corporate life, she wanted something more. A chance to claw her way up the rigid social and financial ladder to make something of herself. A chance that wouldn’t come naturally to someone as familiar with dark alleyways and the glint of steel as she was with office work and corporate niceties.Book One is up on Kindle Unlimited as of 7/6/22 - https://www.royalroad.com/amazon/B0B2X3L8H5

The blue Astrum of memories
Some of you believe in fate and some of you don't. That's ok in our world. In the world that I created Fate has been acting strange and selfish for a long time. She was always fascinated with humans and the fact that they had soulmates because a lot of other races didn't. Ever since humans started traveling through space, that opened millions of new opportunities for Fate to make the human soulmates meet. However, because of her strange behaviour Fate made too many mistakes. After that, Fate made what she thought, was a good move. What she didn't count on was that the good move she made knew that you can cheat fate. One and his crew don't know how ironic it is that she chose them to make her good move. ------------------------------- I didn't use any movies, books or series for inspiration the story is my original work. This is just the result of my weird imagination and brain telling me what to write. I hope you liked it :) It’s just a story, like all of my other stores. It doesn’t have a deeper spiritual, moral or ethical meaning.
