《The Supernatural Case of an Accidental Time Traveler》Round Table - Part 016

When it was Elijah’s turn he requested a bout with Sir Lucan. A knight who wasn’t very well known as he wasn’t very strong nor had he completed any major feats. Unlike the other knights that came out though, Lucan did not brandish a weapon. Instead he had leather wrappings around his knuckles and forearms. Having readied himself Elijah used a sword as most have but he didn’t have a stance. He simply walked up to Lucan with a smile on his face.
Arthur waved his hand to start the bout as he had for every bout. Without any hesitation Lucan charged at Elijah and began throwing inhumanly fast punches at him. Elijah held one hand behind his back as he redirected every blow using his sword while slowly backing up. Much to everyone's surprise neither of them were able to harm the other as Lucan gave no chances for Elijah to attack while Elijah gave him no ability to land a blow. With neither being able to do much the bout lasted fairly long before Arthur called it a draw and made Elijah a knight.
Jasper went up to the clearing and since he didn’t know who the knights were he asked to be paired at random. Sadly, he was partnered with Sir Percival who was known to be quite strong. Unlike most others Jasper walked out with a wooden hand axe and a shield. Percival, like many others only had a wooden sword and walked around very pridefully. Most of the crowd cheered for him as he walked out like he was a celebrity.
With a wave of his hand the bout began. Percival walked forward with his sword raised as if he was going to slam it down on Jasper. Jasper held the shield up so that he could block the oncoming downward strike. However, it never came. Instead he received a swift kick to the stomach. Jasper was sent flying back with his shield falling from his hand. Percival began to walk closer to the child while swinging his wooden sword around like it was a toy as Jasper desperately tried not to throw up. Having no other choice Jasper threw the axe at Percival only for him to deflect it in midair and send it flying somewhere behind him.

Arthur stopped the bout and named Percival the winner much to Jasper’s displeasure. Next was Mordred’s turn. When asked who she wanted to fight she answered with Lancelot. The squires in charge of assigning matches begged her to reconsider but she refused. Knowing that there was no use stopping her they allowed for Mordred to fight Lancelot. Walking out she only had a wooden longsword as many others had used. Much to her surprise Lancelot seemed to be around the same age as Arthur. However, he looked slightly younger and by far more dashing.
Arthur waved his hand and Mordred shot forward at such speed that it surprised even Lancelot. She swung her wooden sword at his neck as she flew by him but he ducked just in time and parried with a strike to his left. Much to everyone's surprise he missed as she shot behind him and brought her sword down on his head. It made contact, but not with his skull. Lancelot had pulled his sword up and blocked the wooden blade at the last moment. Mordred landed and quickly jumped backwards.
“You’re quick.” Lancelot said as he turned back to face her.
“Thanks.” She replied.
“However, not quick enough.” Lancelot said as he burst towards her with insane speed.
He swung his sword at her from the side only for her to drop backwards against the ground. She attempted to jab at him as he was directly overtop of her. As she did he twisted to the side to avoid it. Mordred pushed herself upwards to get back on her feet so Lancelot attempted a semi-desperate swing. She blocked his sword and parried with several jabs to his abdomen. Lancelot quickly jumped backwards to avoid her flurry of blows. As he was in midair she charged forward and superman kicked him in the chest. This sent him flying backwards with enough force to knock him several meters away. The crowd cheered as he landed in a tumble.

Arthur began to raise his hand to declare Mordred the winner but stopped midway as Lancelot stood up with an enraged look on his face. Mordred turned to face him as he charged at her even faster than before. She swung at him as he had an opening near his head. However, to her surprise he caught the wooden blade in his mouth and snapped it into thousands of splinters. Unable to block she took the full force of his wooden blade against her stomach and was hurled back against the fence at the edge of the clearing. Desperately trying to catch her breath as she vomited Lancelot walked towards her with a hateful glare.
“You wanted to face me, boy! You should have known better!” Lancelot said as he raised the wooden sword to hit her again. She prepared to be hit as she couldn’t move from the pain. Closing her eyes and ready to accept her fate, she prayed that it would be quick… Nothing happened. She opened her eyes to see Arthur standing before her with Excalibur held to Lancelot’s throat.
“Arthur? What are you doing?” Lancelot asked with both surprise and fear in his voice.
“That’s enough. He has what it takes to be a knight. Go calm down and we’ll call this a draw for now.” Arthur said.
“O-of course...” Lancelot replied before backing away and walking off. Arthur sheathed his sword and turned to Mordred. Giving her a kind smile he extended his hand. Mordred cautiously took it and slowly stood up with a few grunts and groans. She could barely stand and her knees shook from the fear she just felt.
“You did well. Most of my knights wouldn’t have lasted as long against him so I welcome you. What is your name, boy?” Arthur asked.
“... Mordred.” she replied proudly.
“Well then Mordred, I will have my healers tend to your wounds. I hope to see you in the training fields tomorrow along with the other new initiates.” Arthur said before walking back to his seat.
