《The Supernatural Case of an Accidental Time Traveler》Round Table - Part 015

Upon arriving at Camelot both Mordred and Jasper were in awe of how large the city was. Although the. Buildings we're all made from sticks and mud it was still a sight to behold. The castle made of stone stood out among all the other buildings as it was completely made of stone. Despite the splendor of seeing such a large stone structure the two were drawn to the field just outside of the city.
A large group of people were gathered around a cleared out area that was completely fenced in. On one side of it were two wooden thrones with enough wooden chairs beside them to fit all of the knights of the round table. On the other side people stood around and watched as two knights exchanged blows with their swords. The crowds were cheering and placing bets on who would win as the two clashed.
A tent next to the clearing had a long line of people gathered outside. A lot of the people waiting outside were in their mid teens while some were much older. A few of them looked old enough to keel over if the wind blew the wrong way. Despite never coming here before Mordred and Jasper both knew that is where they should be going.
Having decided that the line was long enough that they would need some food while they waited. The two bought some roasted bird legs from a vendor and got in line. They both watched from the line as some people walked out of the tent they were waiting to get into covered in leather armor and holding wooden weapons. One had a wooden sword while the other had a wooden spear. Another knight with a wooden sword, shield, and the same kind of leather armor stood on the other side of the clearing. Unlike the two teens that were walking out to him he seemed much wiser and obviously had seen his fair share of battles. Despite that he was only about twenty-three

The spear wielding teen walked out and got into a starting position with the tip of the spear pointed at the ground in front of him but his back hand held it so that he could strike forward with it easily. King Arthur sat on the throne next to Lady Guinevere and as soon as he saw that they were ready he swung his hand to signal for them to start. The boy charged at the knight with his spear but as soon as he lunged forward the knight pushed the spear to the side with his shield and rather than hitting him with his sword he punched the boy as hard as he could in the temple. With that strike the boy flopped to the ground unconscious. The round was already over and some people ran over to drag the boy out of the clearing.
“Did you see that?” Jasper asked excitedly.
“I did.” Mordred said. However, she didn’t as she was staring at the King, the one who was her father. He seemed tired and worn but at the same time a great sense of pride and power seemed to ooze from him. Although she was too far away to know for sure she felt a kind of strange connection.
The next boy came out into the clearing and as soon as they were ready Arthur waved his hand. Unlike the last boy this one began pacing at the same rate as the knight around the clearing. After a few moments of this the knight charged at him. The boy stepped to the left and struck at the knights left side. Unable to dodge the knight countered by knocking the blade to the side and jabbed at the boy. Despite his lack of experience the boy jumped backwards and avoided the jab.

The two looked as if they were catching their breath for a second before the boy charged at the knight. Thrusting the blade forward in a spear-like motion the knight tried to do to him what he had done to the other boy and deflect it to the side with his shield. However, the boy pulled the blade back at the last second and thrusted it to the inside of the shield. Unable to block or deflect it he jumped back to dodge but it was too late. The wooden blade struck his chest and sent him falling backwards. The king raised his hand and declared the boy the winner.
“So to become a knight you have to beat the knight? This is going to be hard.” Jasper said with a sigh but it didn’t seem to weaken his spirits.
“Not only do you have to defeat a knight, you can also challenge any of the knights of the round table to be your opponent.” a boy in his late teens said from in front of the two. He was dressed in a somewhat nice tunic and loose pants with long brown hair that was tied in a braid down his back.
“So we can challenge anyone?” Mordred asked to confirm what he just said.
“Of course, those two challenged Sir Gwaine. He’s like the golden boy of the knights as he remains celibite. He also happens to be incredibly strong but not the fastest.” The boy said.
“I see, so could someone challenge the King?” Mordred asked. Both Jasper and the boy looked at Mordred with a surprised look.
“I guess you could but I wouldn’t recommend it. According to some of his men he wiped out an entire army of two hundred single handedly, and with a single strike no less.” The boy said.
“Who would be the second strongest?” she asked.
“That’s a matter of debate but I would assume that it would be Sir Lancelot. Sir Kay is also a good choice for that title.” The boy replied as he rubbed his chin
“Then I’ll be fighting Sir Lancelot.” Mordred said.
“Do what you want but you’re only going to be disappointed when he wipes the floor with you.” the boy said with a chuckle.
“I wouldn’t count on it.” Mordred said.
“Ah, I forgot to introduce myself. My name is Elijah Langston. My father is Sir Langston and I’m hoping to become a knight like him.” Elijah said as he extended his hand.
“Mordred.” she said shaking his hand.
“Jasper.” jasper said after her and shook his hand as well.
