《The Supernatural Case of an Accidental Time Traveler》Round Table - Part 008

Arthur was climbing into bed when he heard a knock at the door. He already knew from what Merlin told him that unless it was an emergency that no one would bother him after he had excused himself for the night. Grabbing Excalibur he went over to the door and slowly opened it ajar. Looking out he saw Morgana standing in her nightdress about to knock again.
“Morgana, what are you doing? Shouldn’t you be in bed?” Arthur asked as he opened the door the rest of the way.
“Sleeping alone doesn’t feel right and I know Rhea would scold me for being unadaptable.” Morgana said with a somewhat embarrassed tone.
“... Fine, you can sleep in here.” Arthur said with a sigh before letting her in. she climbed into the opposite side of the bed while he set Excalibur back inside of its scabbard. After doing so Arthur climbed into the bed as well and slowly drifted off to sleep.
The next morning Merlin shot in to wake Arthur up as he had done the day before. Arthur had yet to get used to this wake up call so rather than saying good morning or anything he shot up in a panic. Before Merlin could get much closer Arthur had Excalibur at Merlin’s chest. However, Merlin seemed to expect this as his hand was holding the tip of the blade a few centimeters from his chest.
“Good, you’re becoming well acclimated to using Excalibur and to letting it take control when dealing with a threat. However, you need to start learning how to discern threats from friends. Being a little paranoid will keep you alive but being too paranoid will cause you to make mistakes.” Merlin said as Arthur lowered the blade.
“Ugh… please just let me sleep a little longer.” both of them heard Morgana say muffled through a pillow or two. Merlin gave off a devilish grin to Arthur for a split second which really made Arthur uncomfortable.

“I see that you have been King for nearly two days and you already have someone to warm your bed.” Merlin said jokingly.
“It’s not like that!” Arthur exclaimed with a tone of embarrassment.
“Yeah, it’s not like that at all!” Morgana yelled from the bed as she sat up in shock yet she still looked tired.
“Don’t worry, I don’t spread rumors but I would suggest not letting any of the maids see you two like this. Their network could destroy an entire Kingdom from the inside overnight with the right information.” Merlin said with a smile before stepping out of the room.
“That could have been bad.” Arthur said to Morgana with a reluctant smile.
“Oh and do know that breakfast is ready and that your lessons start directly after you finish.” Merlin said as he poked his head back in.
“Okay, I’ll be there in a minute.” Arthur said as he grabbed some clothes and began to dress himself.
“Are you going to be busy like this all the time?” Morgana asked.
“Probably for a while. I’m not sure for exactly how long though.” Arthur said as he threw on his shirt.
“Then what should I do, your so called highness?” she asked sarcastically.
“I’m not sure. I would assume that you would continue being taught how to make medicine with Rhea but I don’t know what else you could do. If you ask around then I’m sure someone will have something for you to do.” Arthur replied as he buckled Excalibur to his belt and ignored her sassy remark.
“Okay… I should probably go to my room before someone notices that I’m gone.” Morgana said before getting up and quickly running to her room.
Having been dressed Arthur arrived for breakfast with the rest of his family showing up just a little later. Rhea looked like she was just going to eat and go back to bed. Mother Ramus on the other hand had found that talking with the older maids was entertaining and allowed them to take a break and gossip with her. She would probably get him into trouble doing that but he didn’t really care. Other than sitting around the cottage and making medicine she didn’t do much so it made him happy that she was doing something.

Once Arthur had finished eating he excused himself and started his lessons with Merlin and the Court. His schedule started with combat training and exercises followed by lunch and literary lessons on politics and similar topics. Although he had been taught to read and write by Mother Ramus he never really used them for day to day things so it was far easier for him to listen and remember rather than writing anything down.
Every now and then Merlin would teach him some magic. Although he grew up in a Witches household and knew the basics to crafting medicine hje was never taught magic. Part of that being that he never had a talent for Witchcraft style magic. He could however understand it and knew how to easily alter it to be ineffective. It seemed that he also had no talent for the sorcery style magic that merlin used but eventually knew how to screw up its process and effectiveness easily. Doing that however, usually made Merlin mad as he would attempt a spell and Arthur would simply cancel it out or make it do something completely random.

The Girl in the Abyss
Synopsis: The mysterious force known only as "God's Guidance" implemented a game-like system and rebuilt the planet using continents from five different worlds. Join Ellie, a young girl whose soul is filled with an ocean of love and trust. No matter how horrendous the circumstance or dreadful the suffering her kindness manages to shine through, but everyone breaks eventually. Watch as the horrors of reality slowly chip away at a pure soul until nothing but a monster remains and follow her down the path of despair as she finds a reason to live. ‘Our fate is one that always leads to suffering, but you can smile, I’ll shoulder everything else.’ Warning 1: This story covers very mature themes which I have listed here: Torture of a child (The MC is the victim), death, killing, slavery, and light gore. Nothing sexual ever occurs to the main character. Warning 2: This is another apocalyptic LitRPG, has a brokenly OP MC, bad writing, horrible grammar, and garbage sentence flow. It is my first attempt at writing a story since grade school. Inspired by my four favorite stories: Overlord, CLANNAD, The Arcane Emperor, and Tokyo Ghoul. A note by me: This is not a world domination story or an action story. There is fighting but it's not the focus. Another note by me: This is a work in progress. I’ll likely go back and change stuff a lot. The cover art is by a friend who has encouraged me since the start. Releases: Volume two will not be out anytime soon sadly. I apologize for the Hiatus.
