《The Supernatural Case of an Accidental Time Traveler》Witch Trials - Part 015

After a lot of pointless bickering between Mordred and Scott we finally arrived at the apartment. Mordred went with Elysif into her apartment while the rest of us went upstairs. As soon as we were up stairs Scott reached into a drawer of the desk and pulled out a blanket. He tossed it a Compton and without saying a word went to bed. Before I could even say anything about it Compton was already sprawled out on the couch with the blanket over himself. Since they were both going to bed without saying anything, I decided to go to sleep myself.
The next morning I awoke rather late compared to my normal time. I guess I was tired after everything that happened yesterday. However, everyone else was either asleep still or just waking up. Scott was sitting at the desk eating a loaf of bread and writing a letter. Compton was still fast asleep on the coach despite the floor creaking loudly as I walked to the cabinet for some food.
“What are you writing?” I asked Scott.
“You know how you said you found a letter from your future self telling you how to defeat that fake masked man?”
“Yes.”
“Well, since no one else is writing it. I thought I would. I even thought it would be funny to tell you to watch your head since he hit you really hard.” Scott said, showing me the letter. It was the exact same letter, word for word.
“Why did you say it was addressed by me?”
“I figured you would be more likely to listen to yourself than you would listen to me.”
“Fair point. Now why is Compton still asleep?” I asked, acknowledging the man who was sleeping in a rather uncomfortable position on the couch.

“He hasn’t slept in days. Just let him be.”
“What about the incredibly dangerous witch that we are supposed to be finding?”
“Don’t worry about it. Mordred and Elysif are still asleep too so it’s fine. She isn’t going to just disappear on us when we have what she wants.”
“Alright, but aren’t you worried at all?”
“Of course. However, I’m not at my best and neither are they without enough sleep.”
"I guess that makes sense. Should I go to Mama Louise's and help work on a strategy?"
"You can but Iscarat already has a strategy. It's simply a matter of getting Mordred to agree to it."
"Do you think she will?"
"After she's slept a bit, I'm pretty sure she'll agree. However, she may also come up with something else."
"Does she not trust his strategic capabilities?"
"She does. However, she also has a bad history with Iscarat."
"They were together! That's surprising."
"Not that kind of history. Do you know why I have to watch over him?"
"Because he's an incredibly dangerous sorcerer with the power to take on the Agency if he so chooses."
"Exactly. He fought with the Agency around thirty years ago and only lost by a small miscalculation of Mordred's strength. Had he prepared appropriately then he would have won but Mordred refuses to accept that. Her thoughts are that he lost and she won. Which means that she's better than him in a combat situation."
"Seems a little closed minded."
"It is, but it is also out of her being petty."
"Didn't think I would hear her being called petty."
"She's held a grudge against the Masked Man for longer than most people have been alive."

"I'm pretty sure she's lived longer than most people have been alive."
"She's King Arthur's daughter, of course she has."
"So you think she'll disagree with his plan."
"Perhaps, but I also think that in a situation that could cost people their lives she can make decisions without her emotions affecting them."
"Okay then. I still feel like we should wake everyone up. There's obviously a major threat and we're all sitting on our asses."
"What did I miss?" Compton said groggily as he slowly sat up on the couch.
"Go back to sleep. It's only seven." Scott replied.
"Okay…" Compton replied before falling back on the couch and going back to sleep.
"That was the perfect chance for him to get up so that we can do our jobs."
"We don't get paid enough for that. Let him sleep."
"Fine." I replied complacently.
