《The Supernatural Case of an Accidental Time Traveler》Witch Trials - Part 004

The compass led me south. Now that I think about it, it was obvious she would head towards where one of the other circles may have been. How she knew where they could be was unknown to me but she may have learned about it from her mother. If that’s the case then Elysif knows more than she wants to let on about this whole ritual.
I kept on running through the streets on whatever path the compass led me on. Like before it would start spinning like it had to reconnect to some kind of system. Eventually it would send me back on some kind of course. On top of that the weaving through back alleys in order to properly stay on course was annoying. People were giving me weird looks as I passed them. As if I was lost or something.
No matter, I had a job to do and I didn’t care how long it took me. Elysif probably wasn’t in any danger. She could take care of herself rather well. I was just worried that she may get to her mother before I can get to her. As I ran the compass began to spin again. Only to send me running east rather than south as I just was.
The compass hadn’t done anything like that the last time I used it. Maybe she was heading west as I was heading towards her? I don’t know. The most I understand about magic is that you have to be smart enough to know what you were even doing. I am not so I’ll just leave that to the professionals.
I weaved through alleyways and dirt streets again until I exited into a small open area where two roads intersected. The compass began spinning again. Which made me angrier the more it spun. “I swear to God, If you don’t stop spinning I’ll teach the locals about street hockey and use you as the ball!” I yelled at the compass like it would help it.

“Lou?” I heard someone say on my right. It was Elysif who was holding hands with a young girl.
“Elysif! I have been looking everywhere for you.”
“I figured someone might come after me, but how did you find me?”
“The compass. Remember?”
“Oh, wait, it was in my apartment. How did you get in without a key?”
“We can talk about that later. Who’s the girl?”
“Uh…”
“Don’t tell me you kidnapped a child.”
“... She is most likely my younger sister.”
“Okay then, What’s your name?” I asked the little girl.
“Rebeccah Avian. Who is he?” Rebbeccah said, turning to Elysif.
“He’s my lover.” Elysif replied.
“I never agreed to that.”
“So does that mean he’s my big brother?” Rebbeccah asked.
“You could say that.” Elysif said with an awkward smile.
“Okay, I need an explanation. What happened?” I said.
“I went looking for my mother and instead found this child who I assume is my sister since she was the one setting up the magic circles everywhere and can use blood magic.”
“So you’re telling me that this little girl who looks as innocent as a newborn has been killing people for your mother?”
“Yes… and now she is taking me to see my mother.”
“Why?”
“Because I told her to.”
“Ya, no. i was given explicit instructions to find you before you did something stupid. Going to see the big bad evil lady without any backup seems rather stupid. You and the murder child need to come with me to Mama Loiuse’s. We can figure out what to do then.”
“Why pray tell, should I listen to you?”
“Because I would rather you not get killed.”
“She wouldn’t kill me.”
“Based on the story I just heard, she just might.”
