《The Supernatural Case of an Accidental Time Traveler》Not Forgotten - Part 033

Scott ran through the streets of London. The mid-day traffic made it difficult to run at full speed, especially with his new enhancements. Thus to improve it he ran into an alley and by putting more strength into his legs hopped between the alley walls like a ninja from a shitty anime until he reached the rooftops. From there he began running across the buildings and jumping across entire streets. Although this may seem pointless he was in fact heading somewhere and this made it a lot faster.
Diving across one road after the other he finally made it to his destination so without much effort he jumped into an alleyway to avoid being seen by bystanders. Then as calmly as possible for a man who just ran six kilometers in twelve minutes he walked out of the alley and into a metalsmith shop.
"Hello, what can I get for ya?" A tall older looking man said. He was wearing a bowler hat and was a little round. He wore suspenders and loose fitted pants.
"I need some silver for some enforcement work."
"I see, and what will you be enforcing this weapon on?"
"Werewolves."
"Well then… I know what will be good for ya. Since you are known for physical combat I would suggest a set of silver knuckles and for more damage I would recommend a silver coated steel hatchet. I could also throw in a couple silver daggers for when you're closer to them than you would like."
"I'll take them and please make it quick."
"Shall this be on the Agency then?"
"Yes."
The man laid out all of the armaments with a smile. Scott took them off the counter and began to head back out the door when the man grabbed his shoulder.

"You should probably put on some better clothes before you go out." The man said before grabbing some pants and a belt from under the counter. "These are son's spare clothes for whenever he works. I suppose they would fit you."
"Thank you."he said, taking them and putting them on. Once he had them on he slid the hatchet into the side of the belt and left. Doing as he did before he got to the rooftops and began charging across them towards a known werewolf den.
Rather than a den it was more like a mortuary. A group of werewolves ran it in order for them to easily procure hearts for newly awakened pups without killing. It also acted as a very well organized home for them.
"Ah, the Agency doesn't come here often. Could it be that you need a body disposed of or did you just want some information off the nearby rumor tree?" A woman in her thirties said from behind a rather large desk that was covered in well organized files.
"Actually, I was looking for one of your own."
"And why would you be doing that?"
"A small group of werewolves killed my wife. Now I want to know where I can find them or this will become a problem for everyone."
"Well… I am going to need more information than what you just gave me."
"They all work at Canary Wharf and are rumored to run a slave trade in secret."
"I understand." She said as a werewolf came up behind him and put him in a headlock.
"The hell!"
"You are a fool! Don't you know that we protect our own no matter what? If you want one of us you'll have to kill all of us." The woman said as she morphed into her werewolf form, ripping the clothes she wore in the process.

Scott focused on his strength for only a second and in one swift motion threw his entire upper body forward. Launching the werewolf holding him at the one in front of him. The wolf man got up and charged at him. Scott grabbed the silver knuckles from his pockets and just as the wolf man struck out at him with it's right hand he dodged to his right and gave him a left hook. The force of the impact shattered the wolf man's skull and sent ashen dust flying everywhere.
The other werewolf attacked him from the right where his current blind spot was. It would have been a successful attack but scott with a near instantaneous kick to the jaw. Her body went flying back as he lunged towards her flying body and punched her in the gut. She flew back against the wall and also turned into ashen dust.
As he did this several people came running into the room. Their ages ranged from eighteen to the late sixties but they were all werewolves. They saw the ashen dust and without much hesitation the group of around twenty people morphed into their wolf forms. Scott turned towards them and readied himself.
"I guess this is how it's gonna go." Scott said to himself as the first of them came within punching distance.

The Dreamside Road
Five years after the world fell into chaos, a treasure of artifacts is up for grabs. The relics of the Dreamside Road offer a power that could help rebuild or annihilate what remains. Orson Gregory is an adventurer for hire, but hunts this treasure for answers, not glory. Enoa Cloud’s late aunt helped hide the Dreamside Road, but following in her aunt’s supernatural tradition offers her as much peril as power. Together, Orson and Enoa battle a magic-obsessed militia, clash with a host of rivals, and face constant adventure on their journey to find the Dreamside Road. *Updates Monday and Friday The Dreamside Road is now on TopWebFiction! Vote so people know this exists. _____________________________________ NOTE: The Progression tag applies specifically to Enoa. Also, fair warning, that element doesn't enter the story until she begins her studies. Content: Main characters range in age from teenagers to people in their thirties and older, but it will not contain gratuitous violence or explicit sexual content. It also won’t shy away from implication, anything to make this story and its world feel more real. Characters will freely allude to potentially triggering topics, including living with a disability, facing terminal illness, coping with trauma, surviving societal destabilization, and the consequences of bigotry. At its most intense, the Dreamside Road is a hard PG-13. Worldbuilding: This is not a story with a lot of early exposition scenes, conveniently explaining ‘magic systems’ and political dynamics. Readers will learn, progressively, as the characters do. This story/world has a ‘magic system’, or rather, a set of systems, but the effort to quantify and understand the truth of the setting plays a role in the backstory, as well as in some character motivations. In that same vein, not every character has a firm grasp on the nature of their world, and not every piece of dialog from every character should be taken as entirely truthful Worldbuilding. Also, this isn't the softest Sci-fi. There are at least some basic explanations given for various elements, but Royal Road does not give me a spectrum to choose from. Given the choice between hard and soft, let's just say The Dreamside Road won't be cited in any college Physics papers. Setting and Theme: The Dreamside Road walks the line between fantasy and science fiction and deals with finding one’s place in a changing world. Many of the characters in this story are United States natives and the story begins in the United States, my homeland. However, knowledge or interest in this country is not necessary to understand the story, especially as it progresses. Also, as this is a novel that deals with societal collapse and while that damage may be widespread, in story, I don’t want to overstep and critique the culture of others’ unless I have particular knowledge in a given area. Ultimately, the Dreamside Road is American in the same way Harry Potter is English, fantasies that do not have a full secondary world, but with enough original elements to fully diverge the setting from our the real world.
