“So what are we going to do?” I said angrily as I walked into the apartment with Elysif on my back. Scott drudged in after me shaking his head.

“I don’t know.” he replied before sitting on the couch. I slid Elysif off my back and onto the empty spot on the couch. As soon as I did she leaned back and held her head with one hand. The other hand was given a bottle of rum in which she started drinking. She didn’t drink long though because she leaned forward and began coughing. She drank some more and continued this on repeat for a few minutes.

“Can you do it if you tried?”

“No, it is impossible. No matter how good I get at it I cannot change the past if it affects me.”

“How does it affect you?”

“Once he captured and began torturing me it affected me. because it wouldn’t have happened if this person they want me to save hadn’t died.”

“Okay, then we trick him.”

“How? Like you said, we can’t kill him in our current state.”

“We find out who he is.” Elysif piped in.

“Exactly. If we know which Elder One he is or which one he is connected to then we can use that against them.”

“Why don’t we have Iscarat help us fight him? Isn’t he an incredibly powerful sorcerer?”

“That would help us but we still need to find out who they are. Elder Ones each have a distinct capability that is their own. For example Oberon the king of the Fey can create his own dimension that morphs you into a Fey the longer you stay there. Another one is Merlin’s ability which he inherited from his father the Incubus King which can be used to summon an army of sex loving warriors.”

“But do they have weaknesses from those descriptions?”

“Well, we know of a few. Not all of them have been killed yet and if they were slain by another Elder One in the war of the gods then we have no idea.”

“So if they were killed by another Elder One then we have no clue how to kill them.”

“Yes, and if one dies they pass their ability to someone else but of a lesser quality.”

“So if we have no clue how the Elder One he is connected to died then we won’t know their weakness?”

“Exactly, even if we know how to beat them though doesn’t mean we can.”

“Basically we’re screwed then.”

“Yep.”

“Well you two are just buckets of sunshine aren’t you?” Elysif piped in.

“Well, you aren’t exactly thrilled about this either.”

“Of course I’m not. Elder Ones are capable of God knows what while we have nothing.”

“I wouldn’t say we have nothing.”

“Let’s do a head count here. We have a witch with very little to any fighting prowess, a drunk who can only fight at his best for nine minutes max, a sorcerer capable of sending half the planet into the sun but doesn’t for reasons unknown, and a useless time traveler with a magic knife.”

“Don’t forget he also has a gun.”

“How is the gun going to make any difference?”

“It won’t but I didn’t want you to forget about it.”

“So we can’t kill him and we can’t do what he wants. That only leaves the option of him bringing back a nearly extinct race by killing innocent people.”

“Well that isn’t an option.”
