《The Supernatural Case of an Accidental Time Traveler》Beginnings - Part Thirty-Four

We were nearly back at the inn but what she said about him being sober in preparation for battle made me wonder. Did he drink because he was depressed or was it something else.
“So Elysif why does Scott drink so much? I understand if it’s related to his wife but I feel like it’s also something else.”
“It is something else but I don’t think I’m the one who should be telling you. Ask him yourself if you want to know.” she said with a tired expression.
“That would be too embarrassing to ask out of the blue with him. He isn’t exactly the type to just tell us something if we ask.” I replied.
“Fair enough.”
“He can tell me when he feels like it but I think I would have an easier time accepting his drunk nature if I knew. For now I’m fine with it since you and Iscarat are fine with it.”
“You know when you say stuff like that you sound like a mature adult instead of your usual self.”
“I am more mature than you. Wait, what do I sound like normally?” I asked, slightly offended by her snarky remark.
“Like hell you’re more mature than me!” She stated angrily, then changed her tone to a more joking one. “I am a refined woman of society and a doctor.” we both chuckled at that. I looked around to see we had actually passed the inn and were about two buildings away.
“I think we missed the inn? Let’s turn around.” I said. Elysif looked around to see I was right.
“Oh, stop distracting me.” she replied, turning around and walking towards the inn.
When I got to the front of the inn I opened the door, nearly dropping my armful of bread and with a bow said. “After you, a refined woman of society like yourself should be doted upon.”

She looked at me knowing I was giving her crap for what she said a moment ago. “Shut up, you ass.” she replied walking inside. We hadn’t even been gone two and a half hours but we might have gotten some good leads as to where we needed to go. We were going to wait for Scott to come back but we didn’t have to wait. Scott was already there, sitting at a table with his feet up.
The inn itself was in a similar style to that of the old cottages that filled the rest of the town. The first floor was like a family restaurant with several tables and a few people sitting around them including Scott. It was quiet and had a homey vibe to it. The second floor was filled with rooms in which we were currently staying. Behind the inn was a seperate building which housed the kitchen.
“Hey Scott, you look busy.”
“Oh… bugger.” he said looking up at us. And putting his feet down. “I was waiting for, you to return, I found some leads.”
“We also found some leads.” Elysif replied, ignoring his obvious lie.
“Oh, really. What are they?” he asked.
“You first.” I said.
“Fine, the innkeeper who is currently preparing my lunch has been telling me about some very tall men that aren’t actually human. They come into town once a week for groceries and other supplies for their master. The townspeople don’t charge for any of it since these creatures are protecting the town from wolves and anything else that might be around. These creatures also help with farmwork in the spring and fall. They attempted to pay the creature's master but he refused and only asked for supplies.” he replied, I guess he wasn’t lying.

“That sounds similar to what we learned, but we believe that these tall men are actually Willowisps in disguise. We both saw one and also saw it’s bone face.” Elysif replied.
“Well, that’s interesting. I had a feeling that was the case but Willowisps are known to be incredibly dangerous. Maybe their master is just good enough at controlling them but that would require a serious amount of strength and focus. I wouldn’t be surprised if he lost control of a few of them and that is what attacked a few of our supernatural associates.” Scott said.
“I also learned the name of their master and have an idea of where he lives.” I said.
“That’s good to hear. What’s his name and where can we find him?” Scott asked.
“Rubin and he lives in the Forest.”
“No shit sherlock! We know he lives in the forest, that’s where they're coming from. Final question. Why are your arms full of bread?” Scott asked me confused.
“That’s a story I don’t want to get into.” I said looking down at my bread. “You want some?”
“Sure, but since we have to wait a week before the Willowisps show up I can drink for the next six day. You two want to join in?” Scott said pulling out his flask and chugging some of it.
“I can drink that.” Elysif replied and sat down at the table with Scott.
“I wouldn’t mind some beer.” I also sat down with them. Scott took a bite out of one of the loaves of bread. “Wow, that tastes like shit!” he said, booking it up and down before taking another bite.

Horizon
Emiluna is about to turn 16 and gain access to her first two classes. Living in a small village in the middle of nowhere, she always wanted to become a Hunter. Having learned a bit under her parents, a miller and a seamstress, she was sure she could never pick a class that meant staying inside all day. But being a Hunter is more than just a class. It means providing meat for the village, culling small pests near the cultivated fields and most importantly guarding the village from predators and monsters. But Emiluna is not a normal girl and her destiny far bigger than she could have ever imagined.Join her as she finds out what awaits just behind the horizon.[Word from the author]I am looking to create a fantasy world that has some logic to it and stays believable even as characters gain power and progress in levels.Classes and level quantify the people's progress, but they do not artificially inflate their power to demi-god levels. I am primarily trying to write a captivating story, not "power-porn". That means it will be slower than the fast burning litRPG you might be used to, but it won't burn out that quickly either and I won't drop half of my plots at the wayside. I should mention that English is not my native language. I hope it is mostly unnoticeable, but sometimes I manage to slip some awkard sentence structure in there (German sometimes puts things together in reverse). It it also my first time writing an actual fantasy novel and the first time writing anything at length in English. Any constructive feedback is very welcome.Credit where credit is due: Cover picture by Paul Bica (Licensed under CC 2.0)Check out his amazing photos here: https://www.flickr.com/photos/dexxusYes, my cover picture is a photo, not a drawing. :D I might try my hand at some Paint-ification later to add the title.[participant in the Royal Road Writathon challenge]
8 177RE: Choice
Misaka is a shy misunderstood 16-year-old boy in his first year of high school in Japan. His parents wanted him to be a girl, so they gave him a girl's name. He grew up being bullied and ostracized by his peers. In junior high, he developed a crush on a girl in another school who greeted him with a smile. Later, he found out the girl's name was Lucy and applied to the high school she was going to. One year later, he musters up the courage to confess his feelings for her only to find out that she was the wrong girl all along. Suddenly, a piano falls on top of him and he dies.He finds himself in front of one that calls himself God. He takes pity on Misaka and bestows him with the name Durrendal. He gives him another chance at life in another world and lets him pick a power of his choosing to take into the world. Story is going to be heavy reader interactive. Expect short frequent chapters. One chapter every few days. Two per week minimum. If I feel like it, more than that.Your choices WILL influence the story. It determines whether you get a game over (may discover new information), go around in circles never advancing the story, or advancing the story. Consequences of certain actions will shift Durrendal toward evil or good. The default personality of Durrendal may be ""pervy"" but depending on the actions that he takes it can be reversed. Think of the character as a game character. You are playing a game. It does not require that you make an account to vote. So screw around or advance the story? It's up to you.
8 94Squire Named Jack
Jack is an ordinary squire, a servant to his master. He hauls swords for him, does his laundry, cleans his shoes, generally does whatever his master tells him to do. Jack is afraid of battle, he is weak, he is small. But his great lord is mighty and strong, he can defeat all opponents along Jack's path! And all would be fine... if Jack didn't have one little secret.... What is it? You'll find out for yourself! Author's Note: I am translating this book using Google Translate, so the grammar may be lame, but I really care about what people on this site think, so I am posting this book here.
8 169Naga rising (Final version)
Eshanai used to think that her life was pretty good, that the elders of her tribe of Naga sisters had their best interests at heart. But one suspiciously regular disaster after another sort of makes you question things. So when Eshanai decides to go out on the island to do the unthinkable, break some rules, and nothing terrible happens to her like the elders said it would, her questions start to multiply. What else could the elders be wrong about? Were the Naga really chosen by the spirits? And could there be other people out there, beyond their island? Follow Eshanai and some of her sisters as she tries to find a way to leave the island and comes up with increasingly creative ways to get into a certain Oni's pants. Author's note: This is not a rewrite of my original Naga rising story. It's more of a reimagining, as it contains many of the same characters and settings but will have a completely different plot. Be advised that the two are not related to one another. This should not be seen as any form of sequel or prequel story. So I have caught up to my backlog, and at first, I thought I could release a chapter once a week. That turned out to be unrealistic as I am writing in my spare time, so periods of inaction might not be uncommon. Some of the tags might not come into effect until later on in the story.
8 90Why The Hell Not
Sweat started to form all around my body as the pain consumed me. It was 9pm and this had to be the worst wave of heat I've ever experienced! My body ached as the flames traveled from my core, spreading to the rest of my body. I hate heat, every type of heat, but mainly this one. Heat, in my pack, is a bitch! The second you turn 16 your heat starts. Then for the rest of your life you get a heat cycle once a month, as if having a period isn't bad enough. The heat happens right after your period, leaving you 2 weeks of peace as a woman if you find your mate your 16 years of life! If you did not find your mate at 16, when you turn 17 it will be every 2 weeks! Your period is still once a month, thankfully, but the heat cycle directly after your period is the strongest! Leaving you ONE week of peace...unless of course you don't find your mate by the time you turn 17. If you are unlucky enough to not have found your mate by the time you are 18, then yes it will be EVERY week! Leaving you NO peace!!Basically the longer you go without finding your mate, the more heat you will go through. If you're 20+ then it could be EVERY hour! Once you find your mate it goes back down to once a month, thankfully. Lucky, or lucky for me, I'm 17...meaning I've gotta deal with this every 2 weeks. This one in particular is the worst one yet! I grabbed the water on the side of my bed and tried to fix my dry throat.......
8 65His Unexpected Gang
"I'm the leader of Mayhem, Lynn," Ashton says, smirking. I immediately glared at him.I get up from my chair and walk up to him. "You guys ambushed our trade," I say, jabbing my finger at his chest. "They told us you guys didn't have enough money and wanted back up," Ashton says, restraining my wrists."That's impossible, my friend checked the money, and we had the exact amount," I say confidently. ~Published on May 18, 2018~~Completed on September 1, 2018~This is the sequel to The Nerd is a Fighter, but you don't have to read that book to understand this book! :) Tags: #action #adventure #badboy #book2 #completed #drama #enemies #enemiestolovers #friendstolovers #gangs #hate #highschool #humor #rivals #romance #secrets #shortchapters #shortstory #teenfiction #teenromance #unknown
