《Divine Empress of Chaos》Chapter 21

The woman’s expression turned very ugly. Her nostrils flared with indignation. “Then don’t blame this aunt of yours for being rude!” She flung her sleeves angrily and glanced at the man beside her, “Huo Jiu, finish that eyesore here and take the throne!”
The aforementioned Huo Jiu assessed the man next to Yu Liang, neither of them spoke. Two half-brothers locked in a mental battle of will as similar pairs of obstinate dark eyes clashed with each other. The aura around them was terrifying; they both released their inner demonic pressure to suppress on one another, fighting for dominance.
In the next instant, concubine Huli staggered in midair before dropping down unceremoniously onto the floor. Blood trickled down the corner of her lips. When Huo Wei Hu’s immense pressure descended upon her, she felt her core snapping under his mental force.
Her son, Huo Jiu was also sweating profusely with his fists clenched stubbornly in pride to remain standing upright. It took a great deal of energy to not have his knees buckled under him like his mother. When did this guy’s strength increase by leaps and bounds?
But Yu Liang wasn’t faring too well herself either to rejoice in schadenfreude over those two’s misfortune. Although, Huo Wei Hu had controlled his pressure and spared her from it, she was still hit head on with Huo Jiu’s demonic pressure. Her muscles contracted as she doubled over in pain; her small body curled on the floor into a fetish position as blood gushed from her mouth.
A warm, comfortable hand touched her forehead. She felt a smoothing stream of energy inserted into her arteries. The spiritual essence circulated through her body, calming down the chaotic turmoil within her internal organs. His touch was gentle like the water, flowing through her heart as his inner energy healed her. The tensed muscles under his aid relaxed.

When her eyes fluttered open, she was greeted with his dignified side profile, strong and imposing. The tremendous pressure on her was gone. She saw his strong jaw and chiseled chin, but what she didn’t see was how his pupils were dyed in crimson red. A stark contrast between his usual obsidian dark orbs. The palpable anger in his eyes was so intense, it was obvious some unfortunate fellow had committed a serious blunder.
Fear invaded their hearts for a brief second as the mother and son pair stared at him in disbelief. Did the guy’s eyes change color? He got that angry over a stupid human?
Quickly, they regained their senses, annoyed at themselves for being unsettled by a mere brat. After all, they had stolen the legendary secret manual to the demonic path left behind by the deceased demon lord. They have nothing to fear! Humph! What is Huo Wei Hu compare to that power?
Concubine Huli huffed, “Little brat, today this great-aunt will dismantle your demonic soul!”
He met the woman’s threat with a crooked grin, but there was no mirth in his eyes. “Huo Jiu, this king will give you the throne if you kill your mother, unless, you really want to risk your life and go all out with me?”
Concubine Huli snorted, “You bastard! My son will never harm me! I’m his mother! This great-aunt ought to teach a brat like you some etiquette!” Stalking over with long strides, she raised one of her hand, preparing to strike.
Before her raised palm could connect with Huo Wei Hu’s face, fiery red beams of spiritual chains extended forward and wove around her, shackling her arms tightly together with her body in an awkward position. Her ankles encapsulated to the ground by the smoldering chains of ember as she yelped in pain. Sizzling sounds of burnt flesh could be heard; her beauty ruined by angry red horizontal marks across her face and her skin was a bloody messed of scarlet blotches.

“This king has even restrained her for you, still not going?” The meaning behind his succinct words were very clear.
A pensive expression skittered across Concubine Huli’s face when she saw the calculative look in her son’s eyes. “Y-You…w-what do you want to do to your own mother?” Her flustered speech gave away her nervousness; she couldn’t help but cursed the sly fox in her heart, actually using such cheap trick to sow discord between the motherly affections she had nurtured with her son.
Huo Jiu creased his brows as he watched his mother. The offer was tempting since demons don’t have a second incarnation, but… he lifted his eyes to meet his half-brother with a snobbish smirk. “Brother, thank you for your concern, but you’ve overestimated your abilities. Even though you have great aptitude, your prowess is no match for the current me!” he boasted. With the help of his mother, he had attained the legendary demonic manual.
A chilling frost iced over Huo Wei Hu’s eyes. “You’re not as brainless as you used to be, able to see through my lies, but then again, if you agreed so easily just like that, it’ll be too boring.”
By now, Huo Jiu’s face had changed many shades of color. From red to black, then from black to blue and back to red. He was so riled up to the point he almost vomited a mouthful of blood in anger. This brat was taking him for a fool? He never planned on honoring his deal! Hateful! Simply too hateful!
Yu Liang watched the drama unfold before her, amused by how many different facial expressions the two had shown in a short span of time. She was entertained watching the live opera, but it was short-lived.
Eerie black mists ejected from the mother and son’s body, gradually expanded from beneath their feet. The aura surrounding them also appeared to have changed. She felt the foreboding of evil, like a bad omen was knocking on their front door. This isn’t good! Even Wei Hu’s expression had changed!
The black aura vaporized the fire chains locked around concubine Huli’s body, merging together with her skin. Creepy arcane symbols appeared on the mother and son’s face, trailing all the way down to the neck and possibly extending to the rest of their body. The dark symbols seemed to be sentient, with a mind of its own.
Before Yu Liang could examine it further, a strong force propelled her backward and rolled her far away from the mother and son pair, but she was unharmed. Beyond a shadow of doubt, the one responsible for knocking her out of the way was Huo Wei Hu; otherwise, there was no way she’d be uninjured after being catapulted such a distance. She understood he was worried for her safety, but… did he took her as a decoration?
In terms of raw power and strength, she couldn’t compare to him or his people. When it comes to spiritual force or energy, there was even less to say since she had no cultivation. But, she had her own method of fighting, her own way of contributing!
Nobody paid attention to her as she glided along the walls, masking her presence as much as possible. She was a veteran hunter in the forest with years of experience under her belt and today those skills came in handy.

Dungeon Core Chat Room.
This is a slower-paced "experiment and dungeon building" web novel that tries to use the idea of peer-to-peer communication with Dungeon Cores instead of Dungeon to slave monster communication to break up the detailed dungeon building. Rank 1 description: (minimum met for system initialization...detailed description as follows) Each race was given a system by the gods to make up for their shortcomings and balance their place in this world. Humans: Abysmally bad at understanding and using magic unable to use more than the lowest of magic were given the "Skill System" magic in the form of premade skills with use, study, and mastery tied to experience. Elves: Intuitively understand magic and have long lives leading to vast knowledge and skill in their chosen fields. However, as a species, they have nearly zero sex drive and less than low fertility, so they were gifted the "World Tree System" with experience gained through the care of natural areas – gifting the chance of children to increase their numbers without dirty copulation. All “natural” or “wild” monsters are given an "Evolution system" designed around killing and consuming as many creatures as possible, slowly increasing strength and, at thresholds, allowing mutations to alter them multiple times. Dungeon cores are different. Unlike humans, they can see, manipulate and live off mana. Unlike Elves, they naturally crystallize after extended periods of time in high mana level areas. However, they cannot easily move or communicate and typically go insane without companionship. As a species other than the odd eccentric they are unimaginative. Brute forcing solutions without the drive to truly innovate. Thus they have been gifted with the "Dungeon Connection System" a magical version of the internet accessible by their peers that allows them to barter and sell: bait, traps, monsters, and knowledge, as well as entertain each other with “adventure streams” using exciting recorded battles and humorous reels of arrogant chumps biting off more than they can chew to often fatal effects. This is the casual story of a dungeon unluckily spawned far from potential adventurers forced to innovate beyond its peers to find its place in this world. Rank 2 Description: Justification. I've been on a dungeon core kick for months and while I love the genre – it's sparse with entries. Often the forced conflict gets repetitive and frantic solving of threats "power levels" the protagonist to god levels to progress the plot – taking away the nice steady progression fantasy I'm looking for. (Progression in this story is linked to how strong of monsters/traps/whatever he can create not his "level"...this is demonstrated by some of his newer monsters beating his older monsters not with discrete "this monster has 10 attack this one has 40") Additionally, the focus on 3rd parties with their drama takes away from the reason I’m reading dungeon core novels in the first place – I'm looking for magical crafting, experimentation and kingdom building – not defence from higher and higher levelled enemies looking to steal/destroy/control the MC. This novel is kind of just me writing the story I wish I could read. I like thinking about the experimentation that can be done in fantasy settings using 'mana' as an excuse to make up rules and try to keep them internally consistent. IE once I define how a rule works, I'm going to commit to keeping it – no breaking hard truths I've given when it's convenient, even if it backs me into a corner. Hopefully, that should make the story interesting to read even if it's SOL and less action-oriented. There will be problems to solve and a clear progression in strength (of created monsters and knowledge) however due to not wanting to force conflict for the sake of conflict the general theme will be closer to slice of life with few action sequences and no overarching goal so please keep that in mind when picking this up as the genre is not for everyone. Finally, I have a clear goal of what I want from this story (not an endless romp but a series of arcs and then a conclusion that's a couple of dozen medium-sized chapters long) I want to commit to finishing it or at least bringing it to a point of rest. I hate all the engaging stories that stop with a “hiatus” indefinitely so in the event I lose motivation I'll work to end this even if the ending becomes rushed/unsatisfying just to give a sense of closure. I’m planning on including several polls in terms of direction and taking feedback heavily into account if I get enough readers (but may choose to ignore it if it deviates too far from the direction I want to take this as in feedback like: “The MC needs a cartoonishly evil arch-enemy that wants to enslave him and force the mc to pump out magic items” or “the MC needs to make a body and learn teleportation then live with humans” will get shot down without consideration.)

The Edgars
A serial killer is wreaking havoc in a small European village, and Charles Edgar believes his estranged brother to be the culprit. But little does he know that a much darker truth lies behind the bloodshed; one that will bring betrayal and destruction to the entire Edgar lineage. (This is a one-act play. A (beat) indicates a pause in the dialogue.) Also, please feel free to rip this story apart in the reviews (if you're so inclined). I really want to improve as a writer, so any criticisms are more than welcomed.
