《Journeys in the Fairworld: The Gatekeeper》Epilogue

It was a warm, sunny day in the very twilight of spring. The university was abuzz with activity, as the students struggled frantically to survive their examinations as they looked forward to the blessed dawn of summer.
Lindsey was pressing her way through the crowded corridor of the girl’s dormitory, a backpack swung casually over one shoulder as she made her way back to her room. She had stuck it out through the remainder of the spring semester, and was planning to continue in the fall. She was determined to finish her degree, no matter where life took her thereafter. Despite a battery of excused absences in consideration of her purported ailment, it had nonetheless been hard going to recover after having missed a third of the term. However, she had proven up to the challenge, and among those who knew her there were not a few who commented that she had come through her illness a much stronger and more energetic person.
The black dye in her hair was long gone, and in its place was a tousle of deep walnut, which was her own natural color. Gone too was the heavy eyeliner, and indeed even her very silhouette was subtly altered, for she had gained weight, just enough that even the most critical of physicians would have considered her very healthy. And yet, for the first time in her adult life she felt good about how she looked. Indeed, having spent her adolescence hating her own body, Lindsey was quite confident and content with her own self, and took a certain relish in showing off just a little bit as a sort of rebellion against her own former self. On her feet were a pair of practical, no nonsense military style boots, which were curiously mismatched with a fashionable pair of tight, high cut summer shorts and black camisole top. And ever present around her neck was a small choker consisting of a single lavender tinged pearl strung on an elastic band. This she wore at all times, quite literally day in and day out, whether in bed or in the shower, in street clothes or dressed up. Never for the slightest instant was she without the pearl around her neck.

Lindsey had just turned down her own corridor when up ahead she saw a man at the other end of the hall. He was a grizzled sort of gentleman, lean of build with a closely cropped salt and pepper colored beard and dressed in heavy grey slacks and an old brown blazer.
And he was standing right in front of Lindsey’s own door.
How the heck he’d gotten into the girl’s dormitory and what in blazes he thought he was doing hanging around her room Lindsey couldn’t guess. Her hand darted anxiously up to the choker around her neck as she broke into a jog down the hall. Yet even as she closed distance the man stepped away from the door and with his back turned he headed around the opposite corner and down the stairs.
“Hey!”
Even as she called out, the man was already long gone. As Lindsey came panting to a halt beside her door, she noticed that there was a small card stuck to it, tucked in the tiny gap behind the doorknob. Lindsey snatched up the card and read the legend.
Laurence Medina

Below this was a third line containing a phone number. And beside this, drawn on the card with a blue pen, the ink still bleeding into the paper, was a small image.
The image of the moon and the mountain.

8 109Path of the Ancients
When humans with the ability to control the fundamental particles of the universe with their minds were first discovered, the age of space travel began in earnest. Relativistic travel faster than the speed of light became possible and humanity moved out into the stars. When it was discovered that these Mages could be turned into effective weapons, humanity turned back to its oldest pastime of war. Hundreds of years later as humanity was on the brink of self-destruction, with its taste for war finally beginning to wane, a new organization was created. The Conclave was formed to regulate all Mage’s within the human colonies. While the colonies maintained their independence, the Conclave’s control over access to interstellar travel made them the de facto power amongst humanity. As the old saying goes, ‘Power Corrupts’, and many people were unhappy with the way the Conclave had been leveraging its authority, not the least of which were the Mages they controlled. One unregistered illegal Mage by the name of Tyrial had made it his life's mission to dismantle the Conclave at any cost. After spending decades working towards his goals alone, he realized he would need the aid of willing allies in his crusade. Tyrial would need all the help he could get learning to work with others, dealing with his own dark past, and handling unfamiliar feelings of romantic interest. Content Warning Note: They are there to cover my behind. I honestly hesitated to put them there at all but I figured better safe than sorry. Gore in particular barely applies and the sexual content amounts to light Cinemax style at best. But, at least now you can’t say I didn’t warn you. POSTED: Currently, this story is being posted to RoyalRoad and ScribbleHub. If you see this story posted anywhere else, please report it to the user "Tyrial" on either of the aforementioned sites. 8 116Runicka: Tournament of Monsters (A GameLit Card Game Fantasy)
The runes are changing, and with it, the game itself changes. Taygion Ardwella finds himself stranded, alone, and on the run from some very determined guards who claim Tay's stolen from them. They're right, but that shouldn't mean Tay has to give back what he took. He's only been in Stormwall for a week and already, he's earning the ire of the most powerful and notorious House that controls the city's underground. And when their scion challenges Tay to a duel of cards, Tay will find himself thrust into a game of sorcery and strategy as he attempts to both find a way out of this mess and find his own way in the world. To do both, he'll need to learn to accept guidance and coaching where it's sorely needed, craft a deck of unimaginable power, and not die whenever his opponents try and cheat him out of a hard-earn victory. But not all is as it seems in the shadows of Stormwall, and if Tay can figure out the importance of what it is he's stolen, he may just have a chance at saving the game of Runicka. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Runicka: Tournament of Monsters is a high fantasy, card game-based adventure novel with enough magic, worldbuilding, and characters to fill a Sanderson series. I would consider it a part of the GameLit subgenre. This series in particular is not an isekai, and will start and end in a high fantasy setting complete with its own lore and backstory. It is a progression fantasy, and I am writing it inspired by all the Yu-Gi-Oh mangas/animes, and all the hours I've invested/wasted (depending on who you ask) playing TCGs like Yu-Gi-Oh and Magic: The Gathering. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ This is a work in progress. In your journey through Stormwall alongside Tay, you'll probably find typos, grammatical errors, and maybe a confusing sentence every once in a while (although I hope to keep these to a minimum). That said, comments and suggestions on where I can improve are not only encouraged but greatly appreciated. And finally, expect new chapters every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday.~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~**Currently on a small hiatus. I have a bit of a workplace crisis going on. I'm still writing, but I don't have time to polish and publish. Chapters will return on a regular basis soon though!!**
