Universal Ghost Traits

Can pass through any walls

Can change their appearance with considerable concentration on their part

Once they become accustom to a new appearance, they can maintain it with ease.

Some can practice having very fluid appearances, changing them based on need, but tend to be unstable

Tend to cause cold spots wherever they stand.

Can teleport to places they are familiar with

Are anchored to people, places, or things that they feel attached to

These [nouns] can change if their feelings about the subject change

If the [noun] they are attached to is destroyed, that can start the Fading process

Can choose to not be seen by Mediums with great focus

Ghosts have a certain amount of energy that they use to do any of these actions

Overtaxing the energy they have causes them to lose their sense of self and eventually Fade

Ghosts can regain energy by resting or by consuming psychic energy

Ghost Types

Ghosts can be multiple types, but these different types do require additional energy.

Apparition

Can sometimes be seen, smelled, heard, felt, or (weirdly) tasted by mortals

Is sometimes purposeful, but can be an accident as well.

Ghosts often can only be detected by one sense by non-mediums.

Ghosts that can be heard are called Banshees

Examples: Sara

Ghosts that can be seen are called Visitants

Examples: Sara

Ghosts that can be felt are called Wraiths

Examples: Lona?

Ghosts that can be smelled are called Redolents

Ghosts that can be tasted are called Remnants

Psychic Vampires

Feed off of psychic energy

Cause despair in their victims

Eat negative emotions to temporary eliminate them?

Example: Cynthia?

Poltergeists

Can move and manipulate items

Usually manipulate things in a very mortal way, I.E. with their hands, feet, bodies

When emotionally stressed they create a psychic field around them that starts affecting objects outside of their “physical” reach.

Can possess bodies that resemble their own in some ways

This is very taxing on their energy levels.

Mediums

Full Sense Mediums

Can detect ghosts with any of the five basic senses: sight, hearing, touch, feeling, taste

Very rare

Example: John?

Partial Sense Mediums

Can only detect ghost with one or more of the basic senses, but not all five

Example: Karen [hearing].

Binders

Can be either Partial Sense or Full Sense Mediums

Have the ability to bind ghosts to themselves or to other [nouns].

Example: None, yet.

Banishers

Can be either Partial Sense or Full Sense Mediums

Have the ability to make ghosts leave

Has the ability to start Fading process, effectively killing a ghost again

Example: None, yet.

Soul Eaters

Can be Partial Sense or Full Sense Mediums

Have the ability to consume ghosts, in part and in whole to boost their own potential abilities

Examples: None, yet

Reinforcers

Can be Partial Sense or Full Sense Mediums

Can stabilize and prevent the Fading. Typically double as an anchor.

Can be psychologically draining
