《Old Cultivation Record》Chapter 9 - Always Been Tops

Taylor enters the living room and little Lily's looks up at him from next to Jesse. A smile forms on her lips but suddenly she looks up as she felt something. Her eyes become red and she looks back at Taylor, causing him to raise an eyebrow.
Suddenly, little Lily lets out a shriek and she somehow gathered the strength to leap up and lunge her teeth into Taylor's neck. “Ah! Holy shit! This little bitch bit me!” Taylor exclaims as he struggles to remove Lily from his neck without hurting her.
Little Johnny wasn't able to focus on this as he suddenly felt a headache building in his mind. “Mom, my head hurts.” He says, causing Sylvie to turn her gaze away from the scene to look at Johnny.
“What’s wrong, honey?” She asks as she bends over to feel Johnny’s face. “You’re burning up. Are you sick?” She asks, a little worried. Suddenly, Johnny’s eyes glaze over and become red. With his mother’s hand on his face, his first instinct was to bite. “Ow! Little bastard!” Sylvie exclaims as she instinctively lets out a kick, causing Johnny to collapse to the ground and clutch at his stomach. She suddenly turns her head to glare at Taylor. “You big bastard, Taylor. Why did I marry a demon?” She asks, a little exasperated.
“What’s done is done, Sylvie. Now help me get this little bitch off me. She’s going to suck my neck dry if this continues any longer.” Taylor exclaims, looking a little helpless.
Jesse looks around at this scene from where she sat and shakes her head. “My lover and my kid are both demons. How did it end up this way? Maybe Johan will still take me back.” She wonders aloud, ignoring the violence around her.

Taylor was able to unlatch Lily from her neck with Sylvie’s help, and they restrained both her and Johnny who was still feeling his mom’s kick to his stomach. “Fuck.” Taylor exclaims after the effort. “I’m going to check on my dad.” He says before going to his parents’ bedroom to knock on the door.
Taylor’s mom opens the door and lets Taylor in to see his dad. He was sitting on the floor meditating.
“I’m not in a good state, Taylor. Unlike you, I’m a full-blooded demon. But for now, I’m able to control whatever this thing is. Unfortunately, I'll be pretty useless in a fight. And considering how tribulations tend to work…” He says with his eyes closed and his legs crossed.
Taylor smiles. “It should be fine. Johan’s coming over. And Sylvie is also on the seventh stage. She should be able to handle whatever comes.” Taylor says, not too worried for the time being.
Taylor’s dad scoffs. “Don’t leave it for your wife to do. Try not to shame me when the time comes.” He says, unimpressed.
Taylor lets out a bitter smile. “What can I do? In case you haven’t figured it out, I’m not the boss in our relationship. It’s a new world dad. Women can be tops now.” He says with a chuckle.
Taylor’s mom looks at Taylor with furrowed eyebrows. “What do you mean now? Taylor, my son. Women have always been tops. They’re so high above men that all they can do is pretend to be enamored when a man puffs his chest out and tries to look strong. A woman birthed you and a different woman enslaved your heart. It’s the way the world works, Taylor.” Taylor’s mom explains with an admonishing tone.
Taylor’s raises an eye as he considers the matter and after a moment his eyes widen in shock. Fuck, my whole life is ruled by women. He thinks, his face feeling a little hot with worry.

Blue Hills
Nothing had ever felt quite right for Alexander Adamson. He'd worked his way up to a job he could tolerate, a few casual friends, and even a nice little apartment that he could call his own, though it really wasn't. The problem was that none of it was satisfying. It was as though he were going through the motions of a life, rather than having one of his own. Of course, it didn't exactly feel right when he woke up in a strange bed in the middle of nowhere. Nor when he was told that he was now the proud owner and operator of a local farm. A farm that had belonged to a late uncle he'd never known. But with the first train out of town a full 'season' away, he had plenty of time to get used to the idea. Plenty of time, perhaps, to even get to like the strange little town of Blue Hills. I have a discord now. Marvel at my ability to somehow still be antisocial on the other side of a screen! Back from hiatus along with my other fiction. Chapters are on a Thurs/Sun schedule until book 3 of that fiction is completed, at which point I'll be updating this daily. At which point uh.... I dunno what I'm going to do.
