《Old Cultivation Record》Chapter 50 - Impressed

Taylor held his bag close as he was led through a two-door gateway. Taylor looks ahead and saw a figure sitting on a throne, waiting for him. Fuck, it's Hanz. Of course he's the Dark Lord… He thinks bitterly.
Taylor follows the guard until he was standing a few meters away from Hanz. The guard bows and makes his exit, as the room grows silent, waiting for the guard to close the doors behind him.
“I smell a familiar scent. A sewer rat?” Hanz says with a teasing smile.
Taylor forces his gaze to the ground as anger unconsciously builds inside of him. That day was the most humiliating experience Taylor has ever felt, and he was still waiting for the day when he could look down on Hanz the same way. But he’s reached the eighth stage… He thinks, continue to wallow in bitterness. Taylor no longer sensed the immense pressure he felt that day, but he didn’t think it was because he got stronger… Hanz feels like… he’s in complete control over his power… Taylor realizes with a sigh. The height is still so high… He thinks as his dream for the future becomes hazy.
“You… Are an interesting character.” Hanz says slowly, thinking aloud. “That day when you tried to kill me, you could of done anything else and you would have died. But first you missed your shot to show your good intention and then immediately lowered yourself to the sewer to bow your head. If you hadn’t done so, you would have died that day. I’m impressed.” Hanz says with a smile, offering some praise.
Taylor couldn’t help but smile bitterly. Yeah, that’s exactly how that day happened… Just as I planned… Taylor thinks sarcastically.
“And I’ve heard of your exploits a few years back. There were many events where you could of died at a moment’s notice, and you managed to eliminate many of your targets and keep your life. All it would have taken was a single misstep and you wouldn’t have lived for me to seek vengeance. You are either blessed by the heavens or are an extremely calculating person. Unfortunately I don’t believe in heaven’s blessings; everything must be taken by our own hands. And for you… I approve of the way you operate…” Hanz says, continuing to praise him, causing Taylor’s eyes to widen in surprise.

Taylor glances sideways, expecting an amused audience somewhere in the room but found no one. Is this guy serious? He couldn’t help but think. There’s no way this guy has such a high opinion of me. That’s just retarded. Taylor thinks, almost tempted to open his mouth to reveal the truth.
“If I didn’t like you I would just kill you. Regardless of the explosives you’re carrying or if I had to lose a few men; anyone I want to kill will eventually die. But you’ve gained my interest and I happen to be in need of an errand boy since you killed my nephew. I’ll request a territory for you in Oceanview city and I’ll give you a month to organize yourself. After that, you’ll work for me.” Hanz says with a smile.
“Fuck…” Taylor couldn’t help but exclaim.

Trickster's Tale
Be careful when demanding reparations from gods. They rarely own up to their mistakes. Due to a goddess's shortsighted error, Perry finds himself transported to a distant Universe with new proportions and a different identity. Instead of cowering before the deity, he demands she opens a portal home or provides reparations for him and his bereaved family. Unfortunately, standing up for himself doesn't earn Perry respect. Instead, she curses him with cowardice, limiting his combat and magical potential. Little does the goddess know that nothing can stand in the way of Perry's sheer will. If brute strength and arcane might won't get him the justice he desires, wit and creativity will. Perry's first target? A goblin shaman. Then, the world. And so begins, the bard's ballad. Trickster's Tale (Book 1): Is That A Lute In Your Pocket will release on Kindle Unlimited on the 10th of May.Due to KU's exclusivity rules, I've had to take most of book 1 down.Book 1 Bard's Ballad takes place in the same extended Universe as my other story, The Houndsman. It's set on a distant 'disk', though. As a result, the magic system is unique in comparison and has a harder LitRPG system. While the story utilises stats, it doesn't take them seriously and occasionally makes fun of regular LitRPG mechanics.

The day they became Mortal
Paladins and Vampires have always been sworn enemies. While the Paladins were blessed with the power of Apollo, made to heal and to wield the power of light itself, the vampires were immortal beings with heightened senses, strength and speed. For centuries the two lived in general peace, while the paladins built their kingdom Appollis, the vampires resided in the sanguine lands of Sareth. All changed however when an unknown paladin poisoned the special water supply of the vampires with Blackrye, a plant that to the vampire's horror removed their right to eternal life. No longer protected from illness or the relentlessness of time the vampires were forced to indulge in more blood. Soon enough a war broke out between the two kingdoms, a war that would cost the life of King Barron of Appollis and the sanity of Queen Diana of Sareth. Their heirs were too young to ascend the throne, forcing the two kingdoms to hastily form a truce until both princes were old enough to rule their lands. Five years after the blood war Arrin of Appollis and Ophyr of Sareth rule their respective kingdoms, despite having been kings for a few years and heavily disliking each other due to their past, they decided to keep the truce in place. What happens however when Arrin decides to kidnap the vampire king after he unfortunately stumbled upon Appollonian terrain?

Red Clay Technical Services: Mercenaries, Magicians, and Marketing
Bobby likes Pabst Blue Ribbon, NASCAR races, and throwing fireballs. A through and through Georgia boy, raised down in the sticks but now working with all things mystic. He is, in other words, a magician. Not just any magician- but one bound by the most egregious of terms: business contracts. See, a long time ago, Bobby got himself involved with a dragon whose business was making magicians, and Bobby wanted magic to be his business. Both of them having common interest, Bobby agreed to sign over his services in exchange for phenomenal (draconic) magic. A pretty awesome deal, right? The contract put him at the top percentage of human magicians, on top of having the backing of a dragon patron, and a fantastic set of benefits befitting an esteemed contractor, so it'd be smooth sailing from then on, right? Not so. That kind of power isn't granted without strings attached, and Bobby's practically bound up in them. Following the esoteric laws set forth by magicians , juggling them with the mortal interests he still has to abide by, and finding himself at the beck and call of a fickle and opaque patron makes his life as a magician a rollercoaster of ups and downs. But when his patron sets him on a strange task- with stranger company, no less, even Bobby has to question what his mission really is. Delving into fantastic crimes and cracking open mysteries is just the least he can do, and he'll do it with the help of his gun, his wand, and his trusted allies both large and small. --- Cover art is of the Georgia Guidestones. Chapters released on a semi-regular basis, at least one every two weeks, sometimes more. Also published on Offprint.net, Webnovel, and Scribblehub under the same title!
