《Old Cultivation Record》Chapter 12 - Started Out as a Stone

Taylor ends the call and looks to Jesse. Her eyes were open and she was looking at him.
“What did he say?” Jesse asks, curious. For some reason, she didn't feel as guilty as she thought she would, considering the situation.
“Told me you're my responsibility now.” Taylor says with a blank face.
“I see…” She says as she glances away. “So he told you… about my situation?” She asks with her gaze lowered. She didn’t really like to talk about it and hoped she could have kept it from Taylor for a little longer.
“Yes. But he says we’re a match for some reason.” Taylor continues to say, still unsure. He was unsure of the situation, unsure of his feelings and unsure whether he should continue this relationship. But a part of him wouldn’t let himself say no; a part of him thought this was right.
Jesse smiles. “He’s right.” She says before planting a kiss on Taylor’s chest. “You have been the same since the day I met you. Unhindered by thoughts and fully accepting of yourself. There is no denial in you.” Jesse says, explaining her opinion of him.
Taylor smiles bitterly. “I’m still learning…” He admits. But my life is beginning to get complicated. I don’t know how long I can keep this up. Taylor thinks, troubled by the women in his life.
Taylor lets out a sigh. Fuck it. I’ll figure it out later… He thinks before he closes his eyes to rest.
Suddenly an earthquake occurred and the building began to rumble. Taylor’s eyes open as he feels his body shake. Is this a sign? Taylor wonders, feeling that something wasn’t right.
“Oh no.” Jesse exclaims. She opens her senses to the source of the earthquake and her eyes widen with anxiety. “Shit! It’s happening! Get dressed. We have to go.” She says as she removes the blanket, revealing her heated and naked body. She quickly finds her clothes and begins to get dressed before looking to Taylor. “What are you waiting for? Let’s go!” She urges as she hurries to put on her clothes.

“Shit.” Taylor exclaims before getting up and finding his clothes. “I keep forgetting that I’m on the clock.” Taylor mumbles as he puts on his clothes.
…
…
Taylor pulls into a church parking lot and parks the car. Jesse immediately opens the door and exits, as Taylor tries his best and follows after taking out the keys.
Jesse runs around the church and Taylor follows. Taylor quickly sees that there’s a graveyard behind the church. A miasma of purple mist clouded the area but Taylor could see the gravestones lingering behind it.
In the distance was a man surrounded by some sort of magical array. Jesse and Taylor quickly push forward before a magical energy began to suppress them. It was some sort of barrier to keep out intruders.
Jesse tries to push on but her body was forced to stop. “I can’t go on.” She says, calling out to Taylor. “You have to keep going and stop him. He’s trying to resurrect his dead wife.” Jesse explains with anxiety.
Taylor raises an eyebrow. Resurrect his dead wife? What’s wrong with that? I thought that necromancers were a normal part of the supernatural world? Taylor contemplates, wondering what part of this was so against nature.
“Taylor.” Jesse calls out again as she sees the confusion on his face. “The world separated them for a reason. Her time had come to an end. And the emotions behind this and the possessiveness… It’s unnatural, Taylor. You have to put a stop to it.” She says as the force of the barrier pushes her on her knees.
“Fuck. Whatever you say, I guess.” Taylor says as he hurries his body forward, leaving Jesse to wait behind.
As Taylor neared the figure, he could hear him chanting; the words sounding somewhat familiar to Taylor. He’s a witch. Taylor thinks, not knowing if there was anything he should be careful about. I’ve fought a witch before, but not like this. Taylor thinks with a smile before refocusing on the matter at hand.

As he got closer, the weight of the barrier became even heavier and Taylor almost couldn’t push forward. Also, now that he was closer, he could see the crazed look in the man’s eyes; his chanting slowly became more excited and his words were expressed at a faster pace. “Fuck.” Taylor exclaims. He’s about to climax. I have to do something. Taylor thinks before he reaches into his pants. There it is. My lucky stone. Taylor thinks, glad that he never left home without it.
Taylor activated the Gravity Scale technique and the weight of his body increased, along with the force of his muscles. He quickly put an immense amount of cultivation energy into his stone and positioned himself before releasing it with the full weight of his body. The Weight Stone was unlike the first time he used it to kill someone; it’s destructive capabilities have grown enough to truly be a threat in the supernatural world. Also, as Taylor treated it like his lucky stone, he had put a lot of effort into upgrading it. For something that started out as a stone, it had truly grown to be a magical artifact that many would envy.
The weight stone, like a bullet punctured through the air, treating the pressure from the barrier like it was just air. In an instant it had reached the man and a reflective light surrounding him before a large impact was heard.
“Ugh!” The man exclaims as his last protective barrier shatters, unable to fully protect him from the weight stone. A large part of the impact had still travelled to his body and forced his body through the air like a crash-test dummy.
As the chanting faded, the purple fog had begun to dim, slowly dissipating back into nature.
“Well.” Taylor says, observing his work. “That wasn’t too hard.” He says, wanting to give himself a pat on the back.

NEWDIE STEADSLAW Part I
NEWDIE STEADSLAW is a randomized array of Chekhov's red herrings, non sequitors ex machina, run-on sentences, and em dashes—so many em dashes. It's like if the Bible and Shakespeare had a baby that they surrendered to foster care, then it got adopted by Alice in Wonderland and Dr. Seuss—the books, not the people—and then the baby fell down the stairs. In this metaphor, the stairs wrote the story. Part I is the tale of the adventures of Traycup and Roby as they try to hold down a job inside the hollow Earth—a place made possible thanks to the secret science of embargoed relativity—and they get distracted by dancing foxes, a giant's record collection, and something with a train, I think. It's a work of fiction—although to call it work seems insulting to, y'know, actual work—but the fiction label is apt, so, y'know, that's a win. Half the words are made up, and the other half are embarrassed to be seen with them. Part I is complete.
