《Old Cultivation Record》Chapter 62 - Farther Than You Would Think

Taylor thought it was a nice day. A day better spent with some alcohol, to accompany his carefree emotions. Unfortunately, he was low on supply, so he decided to have a stroll through the neighborhood to the local liquor store, and enjoy the scenery while he was at it.
Taylor thought stretching his limbs wasn't a bad idea, so he walked forward with an unsuspecting mind. His life seemed to be going back to his casual routine and he was content to spend his days lazily doing whatever he wanted. Unfortunately he forgot that he was now a fourth stage cultivator. He had consumed a lot of the world's chi, and he was now in a position where the world could demand servitude. If it was to be said another way, this kid was grown now, and like any good adult, he had to work to earn his keep.
Still under the assumption that his life would be smooth sailing, Taylor strolls by an alleyway near the liquor store when someone calls out to him.
“Hey!”
Taylor's head swivels to the source of the sound and saw two teenage girls in the alleyway. Taylor immediately decides to ignore them and move forward to the liquor store. It just wasn't a smart move for any grown man to approach two teenage girls in an alley.
But as Taylor takes a step away from the two girls, his cultivation energy locks down and becomes heavy.
“Ugh,” Taylor exclaims, opening his eyes in surprise. What the fuck happened? Taylor wonders, attempting to circulate his cultivation energy. But no matter how hard he tried, his cultivation energy was sluggish and barely budged under Taylor's urging.
“I said hey!”
Taylor's brows furrow. What the fuck do these kids want? Taylor thinks with some anger, having a slight intent to scold these kids for being rude. As the two girls cross his mind, the weight lifts from his cultivation energy and Taylor raises an eyebrow in suspicion. Does my cultivation energy want me to bang these kids? Am I secretly a pedophile? Taylor wonders. The weight of his cultivation energy immediately intensifies and Taylor's body was forced to slump to bear the pressure. Alright! I guess that's a no! Taylor thinks with some frustration as the weight reduces.
Taylor sighs and takes a look at the two teenage girls. Talk to them, I guess? Taylor thinks, not wanting to offend his cultivation energy any further.
Taylor walks to the alley and approaches the two teenage girls. “You know, you kids really shouldn't be calling to random men on the streets. And definitely not from some shady alley.” Taylor says with a deadpan expression. He very much wanted to get this over with.

“We’re not kids! And we can do what we want.” One of the girls says with a smirk.
Taylor gave her a non-expressive glance to see where this kid's confidence came from. She had short hair and a beanie hat. She had a stylish vest over a long-sleeve t-shirt with a logo that Taylor didn't recognize. She wore a dark-colored skirt and some Converse-esque boots over some stockings.
Damn, I just checked this girl out. Taylor thinks with a shake of his head.
“Why shouldn’t we call out to random men? There's nothing wrong with that.” The other girl says, her naiveté physically causing Taylor some pain.
This girl was blonde and seemed to be the cheerful, bright-eyed girl with a big heart. She dressed fashionably and seemed nice but outspoken. A good friend for the other, I guess. Taylor thinks.
Taylor sighs and considers how blunt he should be with these girls, before thinking that he really didn't care either way.
Taylor didn't care what the public opinion was, some of these teenagers were hot. They had their own sexual interests and dressed to be attractive, so some people are bound to be attracted to a few of them. Also, their innocence is genuine, and for some reason, depending on the man, attraction for that can get intense. Taylor thinks with a sigh. But that's not what makes pedophilia so disgusting and so murder-worthy. No one said these kids weren't attractive, it's just that they're dumb. Kids are so fucking dumb, Taylor thinks with a shake of his head. I mean the dumbass on their face can be seen with a glance. Taylor thinks, mourning the idiots of the world.
When Taylor calls them kids, he means they're kids. Their ideas of who they were and how they felt about all the random crap in the world have yet to fully form. That's not to say that they weren't intelligent, it’s just that knowledge can take a moment to process.
So when one of these kids consents to sex with an adult, are they really consenting? Do they understand the implications of their actions and will it matter to them a few years down the road? Do they understand the power dynamic between a grown adult and them? Is that sort of power dynamic attractive? Is it attractive in a way that these kids are okay with? Sure, some of these kids have probably thought it through and they're probably okay with some of these things, but in Taylor's experience, kids weren't sure about anything. They can only think they're sure, but experience can teach them so much more, and they really do need to take the hit a few times to grow up. As for where they take the hit from, Taylor wasn't willing to be involved.

And for the adults who do want to be involved in that, it was a kill-on-sight matter for Taylor. Manipulating people with incomplete identities was one of the most disgusting things that Taylor could imagine, and he would 100% kill these animals on sight if he recognized them. It wasn't even really a matter of right or wrong to Taylor, it's more of a 'since you chose to take advantage of your power, I can take advantage of my power when dealing with you'. In a way it was consensual, and if the devil's anything, at least he's funny.
“Gather ‘round children. Let me spit some straight facts for all the hip kids. First of all, if I was a lesser man and you two kids approached me like this, the hunt would already be on, and a few hours down the road you two might be willingly walking into my den of evil, where promises of grown-up treats would await, and where your future source of repressed trauma would occur.” Taylor says with a laugh. He didn't care if that was offensive. In fact, these kids should be offended, Taylor thinks with a smile.
“Ew, gross. We're not dumb. We wouldn’t follow you anywhere.” The either artsy or punk girl says with disgust on her face.
“You'd be surprised.” Taylor says with a bitter smile.
“We know how to pick our targets.” The blonde girl says in a cute voice. “You seemed nice so we didn't mind calling out.” She says, sounding brave.
“Kids, some of the nicest dudes I’ve met were big and scary with hearts of gold. But that's irrelevant; you should really be treating all men like wolves, because more often than not, you'll be right.” Taylor says with a bitter chuckle, not really wanting to talk about the matter any longer. “So what do you kids want? Don't tell me you're looking for candy? 'Cause I have a white van around the corner…” Taylor begins to say before laughing out loud.
“Stop being gross. We want you to pick up some alcohol for us.” The beanie-vest girl says.
Taylor looks at her blankly. Is this what my cultivation energy wants me to do? That sounds kind of dumb. Taylor thinks.
“Yeah, I'll pick up some alcohol for you.” Taylor says, watching as glee casually appears on the two girls' faces. “But…” Taylor says, once again watching as the two girls become apprehensive. “You two girls have to tell me something about yourselves. Maybe, ugh, what you want to do when you grow up. Let's start with the blonde; I have a feeling I'm going to ignore what she has to say, so she might as well go first.” Taylor says with a gesture to start the show.
The two girls look at each other, unsure of how to proceed before that bravery once again shows on the blonde's face.
“I want to be a marine biologist.” The girl says, some firmness in her decision.
“Awesome. I don't have much to say about that. Animals are cute, I guess? Next.” Taylor says with another gesture.
“Ugh…” The other girls says, unsure of how to respond. “I guess I want to be an artist? Or an author? But there's no way I'd make it as one of those. I'll probably end up with a boring office job...” She says with a bitter smile.
Taylor raises an eyebrow. Is this what I'm looking for? Taylor wonders.
“You like art? What kind of art are you into? Or what do you like to write?” Taylor asks, probing for information.
“I don't know. I like to paint. And I like to write fanfiction…” The girl says with a blush of red and a hint of shyness. Suddenly, some anger shows on her face. “What does it matter to you anyway!?” She asks with some disgruntlement.
“Ugh… I don't know. I also like art.” Taylor says, giving it some thought. “But I'm a fan of the original art form, the one that all other art imitates and where all fanfictions sprout from. I appreciate the art in people and how they live their lives, I guess?” Taylor thinks, trying to put the idea of it into words.
“What the fuck are you talking about?” The artsy girl asks, with a hint of anger.
Taylor chuckles. I probably sound crazy, he thinks with a smile. “I'm just saying. An interest in art can take you farther than you would think. And learning to appreciate art… well, that in itself makes life worth living.” Taylor says absentmindedly.
The artsy girl's eyes open wide, processing some unknown information, and suddenly the weight from Taylor's cultivation energy completely lifts.
Taylor smiles. “I'll go buy your booze now. It's on me. And sure, I'll get something fruity.” He says with a laugh before continuing to the liquor store.
