Even though he was completely healed, Dalton felt like shit. He felt tired, broken, and on the verge of a mental breakdown.

No one could feel worse than him today.

He changed his mind when Ozul walked in the office today.

There were bags under his eyes, his skin looked like wax ready to peel off, his hair was amiss, and from the way his cheeks sunk, the suit he was wearing was sliding off his shoulder, looking like he had shed a few pounds.

He did not particularly like Ozul, but his curiosity got the better of him and he asked the man as he stumbled to his chair like an old man in the cusp of dementia.

“What happened to you?”

His face had a vacant stare, mouth wide open, eyes as dead as a man with a hole in his head.

“My night.” His voice creaked like a floorboard ready to snap. “Let me tell you the story.”

#

It was late at night, and Ozul had just finished sleeping with his stalker again.

#

“Stop right there.” Dalton held up his hand. “You slept with your stalker?”

“Yes,” Ozul head cracked as it matched his gaze. “Are you going to let me finish?”

“Okay.” Dalton was starting regret asking. “Well go ahead then.”

#

He had just finished sleeping with his stalker. This was his twentieth time he had slept with her in total. They had a total of five rounds that night, and he was particularly tired and drained.

But his stalker was clingy that night and wanted him to continue with another round. In which case Ozul was okay with.

She demanded that he not use a condom so she could have his baby, which he was alright with because it meant it would feel amazing.

#

“You can stop. I’m not that interested anymore.” Dalton turned around.

“Oh, Dalton.” A grin snapped in place. “You don’t need to be jealous. One day, I might buy you a prostitute so you can lose your virginity.”

Dalton rolled his eyes and shook his head. “Whatever.”

“Anyways-”

There was nothing around to stuff his ears with, he was forced to hear more of this abomination of a story.

#

After ten more rounds, Ozul grew tired of her.

As he dressed in his suit, she tried to come on him for another round.

“Stop being clingy!” He snapped. “Sleeping with you any longer bores me. I’m going downstairs to find some new woman.”

“Don’t go!” She pleaded, grabbing his leg. “Don’t leave me! I thought we had something special together! We can start a family, Oz-chan!”

Ozul pulled his leg away from her grip. “I don’t want to start a family with you. The best thing you can do is just die.”

She sucked in a breath, and the most beautiful smile spread across her face. “That’s a wonderful idea.”

She broke an empty wine bottle and without hesitation struck herself in the throat. She fell on the ground, dead.

Ozul, as the gentleman he was, opened a portal to one of his many worlds, and tossed her body in. Then just like he planned he went down to the lobby and bought drinks for a woman he thought was spicy.

Then they went up into the woman’s room, and he made love to her twelve times.

#

“And that’s when I came here.” Ozul held up a shaking finger.

Dalton gave a hard stare to his co-worker. “First, I don’t think you can have sex twenty-four times. It sounds like something a teenager would say to impress his friends. It’s just physically impossible.”

“Not impossible for me.”

“Second, what is wrong with you!” Dalton threw up his hands.

He shrugged. “Not much. I am but a gentleman.”

“You’re a serial killer.”

“Hey, we don’t use that word here. I have a contract with this company that lets me murder people.”

“There’s no way.”

Ozul pulled open his drawer and dropped a piece of paper in front of him. Dalton took it, raising a brow, then read it.

“Wow. There is literally a clause that lets you murder people. I just don’t-” Dalton shook his head, just not sure what to say anymore. So, he moved to another topic. “Eira trapped Satoshi in one of the rooms. We’re supposed to go there before Malcolm comes in and deal with Satoshi.”

“Ah yes. Are you sure you still want to try and isekai him? It’s just easier if we kill him, and dump his body in one of my worlds.”

“Unlike you, I don’t want to just murder people.” Dalton glared.

“Why not? You just murder people that annoy you, and they never annoy you again. It’s a very simple process.”

Dalton sighed and walked towards the door. “Come on, let’s just go and do this.”

“Don’t forget the file.” Ozul waved it in front of him.

#

Satoshi sat across the table, stacking a bunch of empty potion bottles. He looked bored and kept on smacking his lips.

“Satoshi.” Dalton flipped open his file. “How would you like to go into another world?”

Satoshi looked up. “Do you have any potions?”

“No.”

“Then don’t talk to me. Your words are like a nails in my ear. Your voice is like an ice pick to my head. Now, shut up, and leave me alone, or I will-”

Dalton put a potion on the table.

“-shut up and listen to you.”

Satoshi took the potion like a precious baby bird. He uncorked the bottle and drizzled some on his tongue. His face twisted in euphoria, and he leaned back blowing out a pleasant sigh.

He hadn’t wanted to use potions, but he did not want to murder him either. Ozul was right behind Satoshi, making hand gestures that looked like something about sex or something about murdering. He wasn’t sure, but he didn’t want to know either way.

“Satoshi, you have been with Malcolm for a couple of years.”

“Yes, that’s right.”

“You officially died in your world, from a-” Dalton looked at the file, mildly surprised. “-From an assassin because you were about to announce a drug that would have cured Alzheimer’s…”

Dalton lowered the file and rubbed his eyes. He must have misread something. There was no way the man in front of him, sticking his tongue in an empty bottle for any little sliver left, was about to cure a deadly disease.

He made sure to read the file a couple of times.

His lips pursed. “You graduated from an Ivy League School at the age of eight, got your doctorate by nine, and then created twenty years later you actually created a drug that would have cured Alzheimer’s, but because you were only going to sell it for pennies, the pharmaceutical companies banded together and hired the world’s best assassin and he killed you.”

The bottle popped off his lips like a baby’s bottle. “Yes. That is correct. I was killed because I was genius.”

Dalton looked past Satoshi to Ozul, who just shrugged.

“If this is true, then why have you stayed here for the past five years? You could have easily gone to a world, gained an ability, and saved Malcolm’s world from destruction. You are the most qualified candidate that I’ve ever seen.”

“Okay.” Satoshi tipping his bottle over and yawned. “Do you have any more?”

Absently, Dalton took another bottle out and handed it to him. Satoshi popped the bottle open like a little kid opening a candy wrapper. He drained its contents, his tongue stuck through the neck of the bottle as he tried to lick it clean.

“Can you answer my question now?”

Satoshi smacked his lips. “The reason why I don’t want to go into a death world, filled with demons that rape humans. Yeah, let me think about that.”

“You could save people, you know. Help them.”

“No, I’m good. I really enjoy having my guts in my stomach and not being used by demons as an aphrodisiac.”

Dalton frowned. “But you could make a difference.”

“I tried. I got killed for it.” He shrugged. “Dying in my world has taught me that humans are too selfish and stupid to be saved. In fact, let them all die.”

“Here! Here!” Ozul cheered, holding up the rope he intended to use to kill Satoshi.

Dalton glared at him. “You’re not helping the situation.”

Satoshi turned around, looking at the rope. He nodded and turned back to Dalton. “Eira hired you to kill me or send me to another world, didn’t she?”

“No.” Dalton sputtered.

His head bobbed side to side. “She does this a lot. Gotta say, this is her worst attempt yet. You two idiots wouldn’t be able to kill me. You guys have a better chance of tying your shoes.”

Ozul snorted. “That’s where you’re wrong.”

“Yeah, sure.” Satoshi pulled out a gun from his sweatpants. “Here’s what’s going to happen. I want you to take out all the potions you have on you. Then you’re going to give me your wallets, and I guess your clothes and anything else valuable on you.”

It surprised him, but at the same time it also didn’t. Dalton raised his hands and took a step back. Satoshi turned behind him, motioning for Ozul to walk in front of him.

“Where did you get that gun?” Ozul asked, looking at the barrel of the gun.

Ozul fired back. “Don’t worry it’s not real! We don’t negotiate with terrorists!”

“Do you think I’m joking? This gun is filled with a bunch of curse bullets. Even with your regeneration, it’s going to take days for it to heal. In fact, how about we take out your most precious tool.” He aimed lower, between Ozul’s leg.

Ozul did not move though. He returned an evil grin.

“Do not mess with me!” Satoshi yelled. “I will turn you into swiss cheese! Do as I say, now!”

Ozul dropped the rope, and for a moment, he thought Ozul was complying. Instead, he rose his finger and pointed at him. “You’re already dead.”

“What are you-” The gun from his hand slipped from his grip. His arm started to shake violently, and he took a few steps back, hitting the table and he fell to the ground along with an empty bottle. His eyes stared at the bottle in realization.

“Poison!”

Ozul kicked away the gun and then bowed.

“Thank you! Thank you!”

Dalton could only gape at what had just happened.

“You poisoned him?” He felt sick. “Really?”

“Come on, Dalton. He was about to shoot us.”

“He would not hit me.”

Ozul rolled his eyes, he picked up the gun, and removed the full clip to show there were bullets inside.

“See.”

“He still wouldn’t have hit me,” Dalton said.

“Okay, whatever,” Ozul shook his head in frustration. “Like talking to a wall.”

He had a reason to believe he wouldn’t get shot. He touched at his tie’s knot. Today he wore a tie that looked like a red Christmas scarf. Maya had given it to him, and he was sure like all the other ones she had given him, it was imbued with protection magic.

“Stop touching your disgusting tie and help me push the body in the portal.” Ozul angrily called him.

He should probably just leave and let Ozul deal with this and report back to Eira that the job was done. Ozul was the one that killed him, and no one seemed to care too much about what he was doing. Even the report he sent last week was returned to him with a memo saying they were looking into it.

In short, he really doubted they were looking into it.
