《The Werewolf Cheerleader》Book Two: Chapter 10

Brian was totally right. The castle was freaking big!
Standing five floors tall, the castle almost looked like a mansion with gray stone brick walls and one tower at the top. Like one of those gothic castles, you see in horror movies where vampires lived. Four bat-winged gargoyle statues perched on each corner below the tower. The roof aged with peeling black paint, crumbling off crooked roof sheathing. Although the windows were clear, darkness clouded them from inside.
As I gazed at the castle, an icy feeling crept through my skin. The hairs on my neck rose, and my heart thumped in my chest.
“What do you think?” Brian asked.
Tiffany jumped up and down with a huge grin on her face. “It looks awesome, baby!”
“Very perfect,” Holly agreed. “It reminds me of a haunted castle in a theme park.”
“Are you sure there are no monsters in there?” Malaya laughed.
While everyone chuckled and giggled, I kept my gaze on the castle. Was I the only one receiving a bad feeling about the creepy-looking castle?
“What do you think, Jessica?” Tiffany asked, facing me.
I snapped out of my trance and smiled at her awkwardly. “Uuuuuuuuh, it looks totally fine. I can already imagine partying inside there.”
Rory chuckled with his arms crossed. “Am I inside your imagination too?”
I glared at him. Being a creepo doesn’t get you laid unless you’re inside a crappy supernatural romance novel.
“Come on, let’s go inside.” Brian walked up the stone steps, reaching the red double door. “There are more interesting things inside.”
When he pulled the doors open, a crocodile head popped out, roaring at Brian’s face. He fell back screaming and almost landed on top of me.
I caught him as the girls screamed behind me. The crocodile in a black cloak laughed and pulled his rubber mask off. He was only a tall black kid with a dark high top haircut.

“Got you!” He shouted with his finger pointing at us.
Damn! If I had smelled him sooner, I would have warned my friends. Then none of us would have freaking heart attacks.
Damn boys!
Brian rubbed his chest while sighing. “Damn, Kason. You scared the shit out of us.”
“I think I almost wet myself,” said Rory, breathing hard.
Kason laughed. “It’s Halloween, yo! You should be expecting this!”
“Did you both planned this?” Brian eyed both Rory and Kason.
The fat kid shook his head. “I swore I was the only one who planned to scare you.”
“I planned to scare all of you without telling,” Kason explained. “Was I the better scarier?”
The girls and I shrugged, still catching our breaths. Comparing Rory and Kason’s scare tactic, I admitted Kason scared us better than Rory. The fat kid didn’t scare all of us after I warned my friends. He shook the bush by mistake, and I smelled his gross body odor.
Kason had the better advantage while hiding behind the castle entrance. I couldn’t smell him from outside the door. With the rubber crocodile mask on, I almost thought he was a T-Rex stamping out through the freaking door.
Damn, I could have attacked him if Brian didn’t fall on me.
“Sorry ladies, but this is Kason,” said Brian, facing us. “He is worse than Rory.”
Kason shook his mask in his left fist. “Bwaaaaaaaaah!”
“You’re both pranksters?” Malaya asked, raising her left eyebrow.
“We just like to mess around, that’s all,” said Rory. “So, you want to come in?”
“I won’t bite,” said Kason, grinning.
I rolled my eyes. “Yes, please! And there better not be any more freakouts inside this castle.”
Kason chuckled. “I wouldn’t bet your hopes on that.”

Fallout: Vault X
An original novel set in the Fallout universe, written to be accessible to all, featuring unique people and places. Vol.II. out now Fallout: Vault X tells the story of John. A vault dweller, who spent every day of his twenty five years underground. Like his father, and his father before him. Proud to live in the last remaining bastion of humanity, all that survived The Great War of the atomic age. Hidden deep below the surface of the earth, toiling under brutal conditions. Year after year, decade upon decade. All to expand into the natural cave system the Vault occupied, building for the future. However, John knew what his forefathers did not, that everything he’d been taught was a lie. After finishing school at the age of ten, John received his standard issue pipboy. An arm mounted personal computer, worn by everyone in the Vault. Used to coordinate the relentless pace of expansion, needed to work as an apprentice. To learn the craft that would be his life’s work. A noble calling to ensure a future for all that remained of the human race. A quirk of fate saw John equipped not with the crude, clunky, pipboy model his father wore. That almost everyone around him wore. His looked smaller, sleeker, finished in a jet black sheen. And capable of doing far more than its drab counterparts. The world above had been ravaged by atomic flames, yet life clung to its bones. The Red Valley fared better than most in the century since the bombs fell. The clean water and rich soil protected by rolling hills. All spared from direct strikes, for the most part. Life survived here. Trees spawned from charred ground, misshapen, green leaves turned red. Along with simple crops, grown wild at first, then cultivated by the survivors. The scavengers of the old world were inventive, hardy people. All determined to rebuild in the ruins of a world they never knew. In the decades that passed settlements emerged. They grew, spreading along the valley floor. Reclaiming the pre-war remnants of the once industrialised heartland. Salvaging the robotic wonders of a bygone age to build their walls and work their fields. To protect them in the dark of the wasteland. But such things are uncommon in this world, and the rarer something is, the greater its value. And the worth of pre-war technology had not gone unnoticed. The last, real, power in this world rested in the mechanised hands of The Brotherhood of Steel. Forged from the mortally wounded old world military. The Brotherhood used its access to the weapons made for a conflict no one won to strike out into the wastes. Men and women were equipped with advanced armour, aerial transportation, high grade weaponry. Accompanied by the training, strength, and will, to put them to use. They established chapters and set up outputs far and wide. All dedicated to a single purpose. To ensure the technology left abandoned by its long dead creators didn’t fall into the wrong hands. Namely, any hands that were not their own. This is the world John escaped into. A place of horrors brought forth from atomic fire. A place where survival meant battling against the darkness. Fighting a war each day to get to the next. And war...war never changes

8 167The Viadon Project: Extinction
In the year 2080, a group of fanatics believed that the world was going to end. In order to save the human race from extinction, a man named Damian Hunts created a time machine and travelled back in time to the Cretaceous Period alongside his fellow believers. They built a massive city on the continent of Laramidia, and named it Viadon. To keep their future generations from travelling back to a broken future, Damian and the Founding Families destroyed the time machine and created a their own version of history, completely leaving out the fact that they had time travelled, and that the Mass Extinction would happen thousands of years later. Two-thousand years later, the future generations of Viadon have no idea of their ancestors pasts, but things start to unravel quickly as Time Travelers come to warn them of impending doom. Vocabulary:Laramidia: was an island continent that existed during the Late Cretaceous period (99.6-66 Ma), when the Western Interior Seaway split the continent of North America in two. A pretty standard LitRPG apocalypse set-up, with certain high-potential players getting invited to participate in an Arena. 2. A MC who is human and empathetic, who makes mistakes and flounders sometimes, but who is willing to fight and kill to protect his friends. 3. A quest to save his best friend and crush from another party of players led by two psychopaths. The MC doesn't vie for power, but does what he thinks is right and gains power along the way. The basic set up resembles a love triangle, but will not go that way. 4. A Game/System that is reminiscent of both Skyrim and Dungeons and Dragons. 5. Some gore and violence, mild horror, some foul language, but no sexual situations or overly traumatizing content. 6. Typos -- this is a first draft, so bear with me!
