I’ll be honest, I’m surprised you’re answering the call

You once said you wouldn’t mind seeing the kingdom fall

But you are mage, and mysteries always tempt you

Hopefully what you discover won’t disappoint you

It’s been a very long time since you’ve answered to the king

Do you hope he’ll have forgiven you for everything?

Use that marksmanship of yours to choose the correct path

But be wary, there is more to fear than one king’s wrath

Hawk and Oak had passed the messengers on their journey

But they were unseen for they were moving too quickly

No humble messenger could dream of catching Hawk in flight

And Oak was always just beside her, every day and night

“Hawk, my dearest, must we really bother with that king

Even his advisors likely do not know a thing

Mightn’t it be best that we go straight to the empire

There we could research this matter to our hearts’ desire”

Oak’s voice cut through the cool wind that rushed past his stern face

But even then, not a single hair was blown out of place

Despite moving much faster than Leaf could run on the ground

His voice was clear and drowned out every other sound around

“In any other case, I’d leave the king to his affairs

I’m no more a fan of his advisor’s twisted stares

But after centuries of balance all across the land

Something has me worried which I cannot understand”

As if to interrupt her on their long flight, just ahead

A portal had appeared that would fill any man with dread

A monster flew out of it and the portal closed behind

A wyvern just as big and mean as any you could find

~ Name: Unnamed ~

A wyvern of the second tier, a dangerous creature

It’s claws and fangs are sharper than most armour would endure

Large enough for demons to ride onto the battlefield

It has the blood and pride of dragons and would never yield

Achievement: Swatting a Fly

Hawk, it didn’t even see your mana covered fist

Before it found you its torso became a bloody mist

It would not be proper to bestow you a reward

That was like leaf falling in the path of a sword

“The gods may be in panic but they’re stingy as always

I haven’t gained a status boost in six or seven days”

Hawk just clicked her tongue as she flew on without a care

The wyvern’s corpse fell down, giving a sleeping bear a scare

“That just because you don’t challenge yourself anymore

You’ve not broken a sweat since we last went off to war”

Oak chuckled as he recalled the last time they had fought

The war had been so short and boring, he almost forgot

“That was not a war, the empire simply learned its place

That emperor just needed that smile wiped off his smug face

I’d thought the tiny army that they sent was an insult

With only fifty ships, they should’ve foreseen that result”

She rolled her eyes, remembering her time in the army

A mage commander, standing proud before her enemy

The king had promised her a fight worthy of a reward

But in the end, she still felt like an unused, rusty sword

“Hawk, my love, I would like to make one thing slightly clear

We’re only going there to see what news there is to hear

Little Sky should be just fine, but still we must hurry

We mustn’t make the king feel he can call on us freely”

Hawk nodded in agreement sighed with great disdain

“Honestly, human affairs are always such a pain

We should have run away to live among the southern elves

They no how to keep such troubling matters to themselves

Remember in the old days when our only enemies

Were the portal monsters, oh give me those days back please

Why that king insists on making his big kingdom grow

Makes me skeptical about how far humans can go”
