《Tales of Demons and Dragons - An Original Xianxia GameLit》Chapter 38 - Born to Kill

Geneva started advancing toward the wolves together with a few others who were at the 2nd level.
“Fred, start running behind the wolves and on the sides. Let’s make sure no other Demonic Beast sneaks attack them. Juliet, come with me. We are going to stay closer to them; if they receive a grievous injury, jump in immediately.”
Jacob started walking a few meters behind the self-appointed tanks. A few of them had some sticks and stones in their hand, and he ordered them to drop those.
“Your bodies are better at wounding them compared to some sticks,” Jacob told them.
Geneva had the fiercest gaze, burning with faith toward the little kid. Not even Jacob knew how and why that woman behaved as such. He had expected a few to become extremely loyal, but that sort of blind devotion resented folly.
Two wolves attacked Geneva immediately.
What typically happened when a novice was being attacked was closing their eyes and stepping back. You could just go inside any boxing gym in the pre-apocalypse world to observe this phenomenon. It took grit and much training to remove such a bad habit. However, there were some unique people built for battle. Just think of the likes of Mike Tyson, who would beat up people since his teenage years. Others with the same character would always stay caged and not understand why they always felt angry and aggressive.
Women were naturally less aggressive than men on average, which was why Jacob’s jaw opened abruptly.
Geneva side-stepped a Demonic Wolf and then clocked the other right on its muzzle, so strong that she had to have hurt her hand. While punching, she screamed like an amazon warrior.
Now, you have to understand that Jacob found this scene absolutely astonishing. Why? Geneva was nearing her forties and had a pretty average look. But, she was a typical mom that you would find shopping for the best groceries at the farmers market on a weekday.

The same woman had just been a bit on her arm by the other wolf and, without even a pause, started raining hammer punches on its head with screams so loud that both beasts and humans backed up.
The first wolf she had punched was still down, and the second followed soon after. Then, frenzied, she stepped violently on their head with her thick boots, killing them in a matter of seconds.
“Holy fuc**ng sh*t, Jake. Who the f*ck is that woman?” Juliet said by his side.
The other Demonic Wolves snarled toward the woman while her companions looked at her in a daze.
“What the f*ck,” Jacob said while Geneva started running toward the other wolves with a manic smile on her face. “What the actual f*ck.”
A 9th level talent, a 10th level talent. A hidden constitution. My aunt with such a high magic talent. Now, this woman looks like a Battle Deity. What the f*ck is happening in St. Peter, for Christ’s sake.
She didn’t care for the wound dripping blood on the ground and jumped another wolf. This time, the beast timed its assault so well that it latched on her in a second, thinking it got her.
Geneva raised the arm where the wolf was biting and headbutted his snout. Then, with a yelp, the Demonic Wolf released its grip and fell. Before it could touch the ground, she put her hands up, balled in fists.
Am I dreaming?
Jacob knew what was coming after. An amateur would have thought she was going to punch the beast again. But, instead, she was just trying to balance herself for a much more vicious move.
Her body slightly leaned forward, and with a scream, she kicked with the front of the boot the ribcage of the wolf.

Bones popped out of its fur, and the poor beast died on the spot with its organs crushed while flying high over the other beasts.
“Jake, have you taught this woman something?” Juliet whispered to him.
“No. She’s just naturally gifted,” those were Jacob’s words.
“What do you mean?”
Jacob looked over Juliet while Geneva finished off the last Demonic Wolves under the astonished gazes of all the others.
“Training is just a part of cultivating. The battle is the main point, the goal. Geneva should have a 6th level talent or so, which is good, but nothing incredible. Maybe 7th, I’ll check later. Anyway, she’s not talented as you, Helena or Fred. She is one of the few people surviving with the genes of our long-dead ancestors.”
“What do you mean?” Juliet was confused.
“In ancient times, some people could only be in the military. They would go crazy otherwise. Their life was killing and fighting. They would be happy with nothing less. However, with time, these people have gone extinct since the most aggressive people usually die faster. Now, the most aggressive you see is the CEO of big companies or so, or criminals. But, sometimes they are the same.”
“So what are you saying, that she is a descendant of some great warrior and some sh*t like that? Come on, Jake, what’s this, a movie with a cheesy plot? Naturally gifted? More like as crazy as they can be.”
Jacob turned toward Juliet with a meditative expression on his face.
“Maybe naturally gifted is not the best term. I take it back.”
Jacob looked toward Geneva, who had just executed the last wolf by choking it to death.
“She’s not naturally gifted, Juliet. She is born to kill.”
His words were accompanied by the heavy panting of Geneva in the background, covered in blood and looking for more enemies with the happiest smile she had ever sported.

To Blunt The Sharpest Claw
The Velvet Paw of Asquith Novels are a series of New Fable genre novels that involve cats and dogs and high adventure and romance and espionage and food-fights and hotels and explosions and car chases. With large casts, exotic locations and an absurdity only possible in the absence of human characters, the Velvet Paw of Asquith Novels blend Wind in the Willows with James Bond, though with more cafes and fewer badgers. This submission is the third title in its Morigan Trilogy, beginning two-thirds of the way through the series' longest adventure yet. Here's a quick recount of what's happened so far: When Oscar Teabag-Dooven, a Velvet Paw of Asquith, is ordered to investigate how a mysterious poet, the Ar'dath-Irr, is able to travel instantaneously around the world, two very bad things happen. Firstly, he meets Lydia, an insane librarian who punches everyone in the face, and secondly, the Ar'dath-Irr reveals he is intent on taking over the world. Although this second thing might be considered worse than the first, Oscar feels differently following Lydia’s destruction of a cafe, a library and his face in one afternoon. In comparison, thwarting world domination just seems easier. Along with Binklemitre, a fellow Velvet Paw of Asquith, and Lydia, Oscar infiltrates the Ar’dath-Irr’s realm of dark poetry to discover the dog not only intends wrenching the world apart but has no intention of cleaning up afterwards. As a result, Oscar decides it’s all too hard and goes home to have a bath. After lots of arguing and the sort of food fight that posh restaurants were invented for, Lydia and Binklemitre convince him that they must stop the Ar’dath-Irr for several reasons, one of them quite serious. A vibrant cast of characters collide as Oscar, Lydia and Binklemitre battle the Ar’dath-Irr and his disciples in an adventure involving exploding cafés and appalling hotels, car chases and inadvertent surgery, dreadful poetry, lots of arguments and at least one temper-tantrum, all of which draw the three into dark and convoluted corners of a world they weren’t aware existed. Moreover, any chance of sitting down and discussing things over some buns disappears when Lydia punches the Ar’dath-Irr in the face. This results in her having a psychotic episode and Oscar getting run over by an ambulance. Although Binklemitre suffers neither, he witnesses both, which is almost as dreadful, though not nearly so messy. An enormous battle ensues, followed by a dinner party and then everything explodes.
