《Tales of Demons and Dragons - An Original Xianxia GameLit》Chapter 8 - Mount Tai

Missing the proper tools to concoct pills, Jacob was forced to think outside the box. To his memory, the only herb around the current St. Peter which would help him was the Three-Colored Stalk. It was a potent ingredient employed in alchemy; its primary use was for curative pills. However, if one ate each stalk in the correct sequence and properly channeled his Qi, they would still get some benefits.
In his current state, the Three-Colored Stalk would, most likely, heal him completely.
Jacob needed to start cultivating as soon as possible. St. Peter wouldn’t remain safe for long, unfortunately. If he didn’t protect the people there, they would die one by one in no time. Even if Jacob wasn’t fond of most of those people, he was not petty enough to let them die for such a reason.
First things first, though.
“Auntie, don’t panic.”
His aunt’s gaze swept over him for a second, and shortly after, she nodded.
Jacob put his palm close to her navel and started chanting some words.
Talent Reveal Technique
It was reasonably easy to use even with close to no magic.
His eyes could now see the small flow of Qi and Magic going through his auntie’s limbs and torso.
5th level talent? I can work with that. Wait a second.
Jacob brought his hands together and changed the rhymes of his chant ever so slightly.
She has a much greater Magic affinity. Her Magical aptitude is close to the 8th level! How can this be…
Usually, even in people with unbalanced Qi and Magic, it was extremely rare to see such a difference. If her auntie had a 5th level talent with an 8th level Magical aptitude, it meant that she only had a 2nd level Physical aptitude.
That was abysmal! It was almost as bad as Jacob’s!

But, on the other hand, 8th level Magical aptitude was incredible!
“Vomit?”
Jacob signaled to ask if her auntie had vomited or something else.
“My skin was dirty. I fainted a bit and had to take a shower right after.”
“I need to rest a little bit more, auntie. Can you give me some time alone?”
“In ten minutes in the garden at the back,” Jacob signaled.
His auntie slowly nodded and then got up.
“Take care, Jackie, don’t let the bedbugs bite.”
He was so lucky to have someone like his aunt. Sometimes he felt terrible for her lacking a man in her life. However, she just doted more on him thanks to her being nubile.
Jacob kept sitting and channeling his Qi. He had been on the verge of entering the first level of the Cockroach realm for his Qi. That would help him with his constitution. And God knew how much help he would need to improve his frail body.
Without much drama, a tiny bead of Qi condensed a couple of inches below his navel.
It had been around ten minutes since his aunt Linda had left the room. He could feel that his limbs had just become a bit stronger after crossing the realm’s threshold. Jacob thought it would be enough to stumble around and to get some Three-Colored Stalk.
He put his feet down and swayed a bit but still felt solid. His room was adjacent to the kitchen; their building was old and a little decrepit, but his aunt had managed to make it look rustic and homely.
My aunt has an incredible Magical aptitude. I don’t need Francis to help me. If she is resolute enough, she will suffice.
They would soon have many Demonic Beasts roaming around. The era of safety and peace was at its dusk; a new dawn was coming upon the world, one announcing violence and the law of the jungle.

Jacob could hear the guy outside his house snoring quietly. Putting a kid to check on him might have been one of the dumbest things ever. But, people would soon realize the need to man up and behave like adults. The military would save many, but civilians needed to do their part too.
Our guy finally stepped into the garden on the back.
His aunt was fiddling with a book, clearly too distracted to be reading it. However, she immediately rose after seeing Jacob and made a gesture to him.
“To the forest?”
Jacob nodded and got on her side, putting a hand on her small shoulder while supporting his waist. But, unfortunately, they were both comically short, too short to be the heroic couple who would save the city.
As soon as they got far enough, Jacob decided to explain some. He would keep the reincarnation secret for the moment, but he chose to let her aunt on a few secrets.
“Auntie Linda, I have a few things to explain. First, I hope you will believe me when I say that keeping this between us is necessary. I made a mistake in trusting Francis. But I need someone to carry me until I become strong enough.”
Her aunt had a solemn gaze on her face while she was nodding. Contrary to his expectations, she did not panic one bit. Instead, she seemed almost excited.
“So, the apocalypse is upon us. Demonic Beasts just took down every major city in the world. Humanity is doomed at the moment. Only by cultivating Magic and Qi will we be able to confront such monsters later on. Also, only minor settlements such as ours survived. People are now able to unlock their Qi and Magic and use them with special techniques to attack, defend and do much much more.”
Jacob kept explaining about talents, monsters, which plant they needed, and so on.
Now, Jacob did not know that his auntie had some tastes for literature that she liked to keep secret.
To be more specific, Linda had once discovered one of his students reading on a website for web novels. For all she loved French literature, she was also a die-hard fan of trashy Eastern stories. So she would read all the cultivation novels, the dramas, and every story with “CEO” in the name.
Guilty pleasures, everyone had at least one.
She wasn’t sure his nephew had just undergone what she thought he did, so she kept her mouth zipped.
While she listened to her nephew talking, she muttered something at one point.
“Nephew, you failed to recognize Mount Tai even when it was right in front of you, tsk,” and then she softly laughed.
