《When Immortal Ascension Fails Time Travel to Try Again》Story 3 - Spiritual Vines and a Smokey Pill Cauldron (Part 12)

I decided to take a brief dip in the spring water. Since I was there, I checked the unnamed lake. It did not look any worse off for having scoured Old Smokey for us, but I’d expected that. Spiritual spring water cleaned and purified like a boss.
I changed my robes and redid my hair, before heading out of the space and into the conference room.
Little Spring appeared next to me and we sat down. As we rested, he handed me a cup of spring water and waited for me to take a sip before he asked, “How are you going to explain the fixes to the cauldron?”
I nearly spat.
Coughing, I sent him a glare.
He patted my back.
I briefly wondered if he’d done that on purpose but doubted it. My family’s Little Spring was still a cute innocent little kid, after all.
“If they even recognize it, I’ll tell them that I used a secret technique from our master.”
He nodded.
It didn’t take long for Employee Stone to return and knock. After we let him in, he awkwardly wrung his hands. “One of the contestants was mugged earlier and is in no condition to participate.”
“I’m sorry to hear that,” I said politely.
I was, in fact, expecting this. Earlier, when I had scanned the poor mugging victim, he had seemed familiar. When I went to enter the tournament, everything clicked.
I had met him at an alchemy contest, back in the day. He was very good but extremely jealous of Violet Pill Fairy. He had complained how, if only he hadn’t been robbed and beaten twice just before the tournament started, her special cauldron would have belonged to him. The guy even boasted that he’d been the better alchemist at the time.

Now that I thought about it... had Violet and that stupid genius separately hired people to stop this guy from entering?
Whatever. I couldn’t prove anything, but I wouldn’t put it past her.
Stone nodded his head like a chicken picking up rice. “The thing is, this competition is not appropriate for a little child. There is a cultivator at golden core participating, after all.”
Ah, I knew they were going to try and get me to back out. I merely pulled out my letter stamped by the guild. “It says right here that as long as I purchase Old Smokey, that I get the slot if someone isn’t able to make it.”
“Of course, of course. But the thing is. We’re worried—“
“Our master would not have sent my sister here if he didn’t think she could win,” Little Spring lied, surprisingly skillfully.
Stone opened his mouth but closed it for a moment. “And which esteemed alchemist is your master?”
Little Spring turned to me for help. Right. I actually hadn’t really talked about our original master to him.
In this life I would not take her as a master. I’d also considered if there was anyone who I believed could be a master to us. Someone who knew things even I didn’t. There was only one name that came to mind.
At one point in my life, I had been struggling with learning alchemy and ashamed that concocting pills was so difficult, when it seemed so easy for others. Then I ran across a pile of old notes inside the sect library. Notes from one of the many sect elders who’d Ascended to Immortality around 300 years before I even arrived at the sect.
It was these notes that explained so clearly what had been bothering me the whole time I was learning alchemy from others. They broke down and even listed the reason things were in near scientific detail as opposed to the ‘It happens like this because this is the way things have always been’ bullshit that the other elders kept trying to shove down my throat.

It was these notes and these theories that I later proved and expanded on that allowed me to become an alchemist that could compete on the same level as those who make alchemy their Dao.
So, in this life, if I had to take a pretend master, then I would confidently claim him as mine. It also helped that he was in the immortal realm and couldn’t exactly nay-say me.
“Our master likes to keep his privacy, as he’s an immortal. We’re also currently on our way to the Indomitable Will Sect to officially worship him.”
He peered at us skeptically.
I grinned.
“I’ve memorized all the esteemed immortals that ascended from the Indomitable Will Sect. Which one are you referring to?”
I raised a brow.
Little Spring added. “Are you even capable of keeping his name secret?”

Horizon
Emiluna is about to turn 16 and gain access to her first two classes. Living in a small village in the middle of nowhere, she always wanted to become a Hunter. Having learned a bit under her parents, a miller and a seamstress, she was sure she could never pick a class that meant staying inside all day. But being a Hunter is more than just a class. It means providing meat for the village, culling small pests near the cultivated fields and most importantly guarding the village from predators and monsters. But Emiluna is not a normal girl and her destiny far bigger than she could have ever imagined.Join her as she finds out what awaits just behind the horizon.[Word from the author]I am looking to create a fantasy world that has some logic to it and stays believable even as characters gain power and progress in levels.Classes and level quantify the people's progress, but they do not artificially inflate their power to demi-god levels. I am primarily trying to write a captivating story, not "power-porn". That means it will be slower than the fast burning litRPG you might be used to, but it won't burn out that quickly either and I won't drop half of my plots at the wayside. I should mention that English is not my native language. I hope it is mostly unnoticeable, but sometimes I manage to slip some awkard sentence structure in there (German sometimes puts things together in reverse). It it also my first time writing an actual fantasy novel and the first time writing anything at length in English. Any constructive feedback is very welcome.Credit where credit is due: Cover picture by Paul Bica (Licensed under CC 2.0)Check out his amazing photos here: https://www.flickr.com/photos/dexxusYes, my cover picture is a photo, not a drawing. :D I might try my hand at some Paint-ification later to add the title.[participant in the Royal Road Writathon challenge]

I AM BRAND
"Fear is only as deep as the mind allows, and the only thing we have to fear is fear itself” -Travelling Poet "It was on a night, ever so dark, that I truly found out what horror was. The way of the profound means nothing, in fact, is not even considered a spec of dust in front of true strength. No mere mortal nor a mere god could achieve such strength, much less rival it. In fact, it wasn't this tyrannical strength I feared so much, it is the one who holds it. I swear by the law on my follower's belief, that I would and will never forget that night for the rest of my life. The true fearsome power held by an unfathomable existence. Nothing in existence should hold such a power, and nothing should have such cruelty and high bearing. I have felt fear and will never forget it. Yet even now, I still feel the phantom pains from the limbs you ate and the heart you crushed; are you satisfied? Titan!." - Unknown God --------------------------------------------------------------- This is the story of BRAND

Wizards of the Otherworldly Court: End of the Five, Twenty-three, and Twenty-nine Years Story
Alternate titles: - Five, Twenty-Three, Twenty-Nine Years - 5, 23, 29 "Dad? I think I got a really bad fever, why do I still feel fine?" "It feels cold..." Five years ago, Owen became a Court Wizard in search of his father who was lost to the unknown three years prior. But that wasn't the beginning of the story. Maybe it began twenty-three years ago when Ronald Bell and Joshua Ruze saved the Illyer family. Or perhaps, it all started twenty-nine years ago, when Ronald, the son of the wealthiest merchant, became a Court Wizard. Well, it doesn't matter anymore, for the story five, twenty-three, and twenty-nine years ago shall now meet its end. 2nd book written in the Wizards of the Otherworldly series. Read Wizards of the Otherworldly Court: Alicia first. This story is split into two 'Collections,' Ronald's Collection and Owen's Collection, each centering around those Court Wizards. Crossposted with WordPress site, Wattpad, Sufficient Velocity, and Rainobu. Wizards of the Otherworldly Court is a fantasy story about the Otherworldly Court, an inter-dimensional (or world-hopping, you get the idea) organization made up of people of all ages, gender, and race from many parallel or different worlds. They are granted elemental-like magic powers and called themselves 'Court Wizards'. They are tasked to watch over the many worlds they come across and step into these worlds on 'missions' to preserve the balance, life, order, anything to make said worlds better places in the shadows but may reveal themselves if necessary. However, these missions may partially or even fully oppose their nature, personal interests, and ideals. Yet, most of the Court Wizards are aware and willing to complete even the worst missions that would shatter their true selves that they will never cast aside regardless, either growing or regressing because of it. Basically, it's isekai to multiple worlds but each book after Wizards of the Otherworldly Court: Alicia focuses primarily on one world while also discussing its lore in detail. Book Alicia is the introduction containing the essential worldbuilding of the Otherworldly Court universe you need to know while shoving in as many characters and worlds as I can. Also, each book will have a different main character, sometimes more than one in a single book, like Jojo.
