《Digital Marine》Ch: 9 Crazy and reckless plan

“God, I feel amazing.” Freya thought as she stepped back on the concourse of the Monarch. She raised her arms and stretched. All her little aches and pains were gone as well as the constant feeling that she was slowly starving to death. Smiling she went through all her messages. She clicked yes on selling her loot and got another ten credits making her total balance 55.75 credits.
The first thing she did was send the ten credits she was awarded to Jesus. She hated owing people. “What to do? What to do?” She asked herself looking around.
“I could eat but I feel full now. I could head back to barracks and hang out for a little bit.” She thought to herself standing by the console tree. She didn’t feel like going to the barracks though. She had too much energy. She thought about doing another mission but remembered how during the swarm her rifle didn’t penetrate heavy armor. She also remembered Jesus’s advice about her sensor cloud upgrade.
“I am sorry recruit but the only gun available to you is a private rank level weapon. Your gold E allows you to buy a weapon one rank above your current rank but at this time yo do not have enough credits to buy an unmodded weapon. An unmodified rifle that could penetrate heavy armor starts at one-hundred and twelve credits and only climbs upwards pretty fast from there. I did notice that you don’t have a secondary weapon at this time. Maybe I can interest you in a short to medium range gun?” The android asked.
She decided to look at the sensor cloud upgrade before she bought another gun. The armory store did have an upgrade for her Dragonlily sensor suite. It actually has three but she could only afford one so she had to choose. The first upgrade she looked at was the one that Jesus had suggested. It upgraded her sensor cloud so that it had an always-on function but it lost some distance if she used it in one direction only setting. The sensor cloud would only travel twenty feet instead of thirty feet it could previously without the upgrade. The upgrade nearly cost her every credit she had.
The second choice was doubling the sensor range. If she chose that one her sensor range would extend to sixty feet but it still had the same recharging time. The last choice she had was better detail. Instead of color-coded dots, she would get icons. There were over a hundred different kinds of icons. All three choices decreased the battery life on the armor. The worst offender was always-on upgrade. It dropped the life from seven days to five. The other two only subtracted a day or so with heavy use.
The first choice, the always-on function, cost forty-four credits. It had a lot of negative qualities to it but she trusted Jesus. She could have gone with the doubling the sensor range which costs forty credits or the icon sensor which costs forty-one credits. With just 1.75 credits left she went and replaced the supplies, she has used on her mission. She ended up with just .04 credits when she was done.
She went to the training facility and looked at all the skill she could learn. She decided to go with Enhanced sensing level two. The last one really helped her out. It cost her all her skill points but she was fine with that. The training was a lot more brutal this time than last time. It forced her to go beyond what she thought was possible. In the end, she was satisfied with the results. She was made aware that she could not level the skill to level three without a hardware mod.

From there she upgraded her mods. She put eight into perception making it an even twenty. She got a warning that she needed to upgrade her Processing speed to use the mod to the fullest. Putting her last point into Processing speed the warning went away. She was going to use the point to upgrade her health so that she could run longer but she was ok with putting it into Processing speed.
“I can always run more on the track to build up my endurance.” She told herself as she pressed accept on the screen asking her if she sure she that she wanted to add the mods. Completely broke but happy Freya went to the console trees to look up her next mission.
She found a whole lot of mission she qualified for now that her perception was at twenty. She clicked on one to check out the information on one of the missions that she found really exciting. It was a board and conquer mission where the people on the mission had to go be go on boarding shuttles and attack a space station. It sounded awesome but it required Zero G. infantry training. She promised to herself that she would get that skill next.
She was looking at an escort and guard mission on a word with some dangerous wildlife when she got a personal message on her mission board. Surprised she clicked on it.
Sergeant Todd to Recruit O’Malley: “Looking for a trigger puller to join a scout squad for a city invasion mission. The mission is fifteen days and I need a few snipers to set up and take out primary targets within our platoon’s area of operation. Click here.”
Freya frowned at the message but clicked on the link. The link led her to the mission info. It was just exactly as the Sergeant described except the city was massive. The city was about twenty-eight thousand miles squared of densely packed urban buildings and skyscrapers. The mission had a few objectives which included created a breech head at the city's edge by the river.
She sent back a message to Sergeant Todd saying that she would love to join his platoon but she thought she was too low level for what he was wanting. Almost immediately she gets her reply.
Sergeant Todd to Recruit O’Malley: I know what your rank is and I know what you have for equipment. You are a golden E. I need a really good trigger finger and you are it. Click the accept button and let's get going.
She accepted the mission and then looked up. She had forgotten about her promise to herself to pick a console tree by the middle. She had chosen the closest from the stairs she had come down. Cursing she crossed to the opposite side and unlocked the door to the lobby. She stepped into the light.
Sergeant Todd was a six foot something blonde hair woman. She was currently bent over the holo-table frowning at something. She looked up as Freya entered the lobby.
“Jagger, I got your trigger finger.” The Sergeant said to a short man in light armor.
“A recruit?” The short man asked.
“A golden E that Jesus recommended.” The Sergeant said nodding to a man in heavy armor with a skull painted on his face shield. “I checked her out. Stupidly high accuracy with a high kill count.’
“Oh, ok.” The Corporal said nodded to Jesus. Jesus nodded back then waved at Freya. Freya smiled at Jesus and went to the locker beside him. Quickly changing into her armor and weapons she sat down.

“Everyone gather around. Let's go over this.” Sergeant Todd said waving her hand at the holo-table. “This is a cluster in a basket. If this wasn’t a max rewards mission I wouldn’t touch this with Gargles hands and we all know when the last time he washed them.”
Freya struggled not to laugh as the Sergeant went on. “Before we can do anything fun we have to run through the grinder. The Breech head they want us to create is here on the other side of this half-mile wide river made of acid. So don’t fall in. That means no heavy metal until we clear the beach. We are going to cross on platooe boats. What’s even more fun is that we have to first get to the river from the CC base which is here eight miles away. That means we get to carry the boats. The rally point is here at this soccer field a half mile from the river. We gather up there then cross the river of acid.”
“Sounds fun, right? It gets better.” The Sergeant said smiling. “The good news is while we don’t have air, we do have artillery and anti-air to protect us as we cross the river. Once there, we have to storm the beach and somehow overcome fortified bunkers all along this street. To get to that street we have to run uphill along this beach here. The enemy has a clear line of fire from multiple directions all alone at the beach.”
“The bad news is that they have mid-tech ranged shields to prevent the artillery from blowing them away. That also means that until we get to the street here we can’t penetrate the shield. They can fire at us but we can’t fire back. The bunkers are still under construction so not a lot of protection except for the shield. If we can get past the shield then we have a chance otherwise we are all going to lose a lot of credits when the bill for all the respawns comes due.”
“Our entire division will be making an assault along this landing. Our orders are to clear the way for tanks and heavy equipment. This is a straight up charge into the teeth of the enemy, people. We go in at night. Heavies in the front. Lights to the back. If someone falls, leave them. We will collect the wounded after the objective is cleared. Bring all the heaviest stuff you have without slowing you down. Remember you have to carry that crap eight miles with the Platooe boat on your shoulders.” The Platoon leader said looking around at everyone. “Questions?”
There were a few questions being asked but Jagger her new squad leader beckoned for her to follow him. “Ok, I don’t know how many respawns we are going through until we take the beach but it’s going to be a lot. Once inside the city, we go out as a squad. We have two shooters and two to protect. You’re going to be a shooter unless I tell you otherwise. I pick the targets. I pick our firing locations. One shot and we move. If you miss, do not fire again unless I tell you to. You do not pull that trigger unless you get permission from me. Understand?”
“Yes, Corporal,” Freya replied.
“You follow my orders and we might get out of this without too many respawns,” Jagger said shaking his head.
“O’Malley, you got a few seconds?” Jesus asked after Jagger left.
“Hey, Jesus, what’s up?” She asked.
“I just wanted to warn you about a few things. This is an invite-only mission. The people are all here from past Named platoons and Named companies. These people are used to working together so they are going to be really good. This is also a max reward mission. That means that a real officer is running the show and not an AI sim. If someone calls you on the coms whatever you do don’t screw off. Ok?” He asked her. “Besides a mission in the real world, this has the best rewards for tier one. So you owe me.” He told her.
“I stuck my neck out for you and I would really appreciate you not telling the others that you’re from Earth. I lied to get you on our platoon and told them that you’re a preschool baby. They think you’re from Zac’s War Academy. They will eventually find out but I hope it’s not until you’ve done some on your shooting and proved that it doesn’t matter. It won’t stop the crap you’re going to get because you’re for being from Earth but nothing that you’re not used to. You do that and we square. Ok?”
Freya nodded and mimed zipping up her lips and toss the imaginary key away. He smiled and nodded at her. She watched him leave her smile fading away. She hated the fact that she would always be seen as an Earthling no matter what she did. Her mother warned her that it would happen if she left Earth but she had hoped that the Marines would be different. Looking at Jesus's back as he joined his squad getting ready to follow the platoon leader through the door she was glad he invited her but she was worried about what would happen when they found out he had lied.
Taking a deep breath she joined Jagger and the rest of the squad. She checked her equipment making sure she had everything as the platoon leader opened the door. Her squad was right behind the platoon leader and the first squad to pass into the light behind the platoon leader who led the way. Taking a deep breath Freya, the last member of her squad, stepped into the light.
“Don’t bother with getting extra supplies. Just grab a boat and wait by the road.” The platoon leader called out as Freya found herself looking at her reflection in the pod window. She tapped the release button and the pod doors opened up. Hiding her privates she quickly stepped out of the pod and into the bay. She hurried to the locker and retrieved her stuff not looking at all the naked people around her doing the same thing.
Once she equipped her armor the got a blue window telling her that she had a new sensor cloud that could be turned on to run a constant scan around her or in front of her. It asked her if she wished to turn it on. She chose the option to scan in front of her before she turned it on. On her Hud map, a bunch of green dots appeared all around her on her HUD map.
Looking around Freya saw that they had spawned from a really big spawn ship that had at least thirty spawn pods. The spawn ship had landed in a park on an odd colored blue-green grass that just looks wrong to her. The grass was torn up a little bit by tracks from trucks which were filled with supplies and boats. The park was surrounded by really nice brightly colored houses.
She rushed over to a truck that was full of dull black inflatable boats. She joined her squad and together they lifted the boat in the air and put it on their shoulders. They moved off to the side of the road to wait on the squad behind them. The other squads quickly joined them and once every squad had a boat they left.
The run to the rally point was long but it wasn’t as long the one in her last mission. The run was also very scenic as they ran through nice neighborhoods filled with big and colorful houses. There were a few people standing on the sidewalks watching them run by. She saw several people on their phones. Freya wondered how many were calling ahead to warn the city that it was about to be attacked.
The rally point was a large soccer field surrounded by some wooded areas. There were already a bunch of platoons there lined up by their companies. Freya noted there were a lot of platoons that were made up entirely of heavy armor. There was even a large super heavy armor that looked more like a machine that a person in armor in one of the first platoons. The platoon leader restructured the platoon so that Freya’s squad was in the back and the rest of the heavy armor was in the front. Jesus’s squad was just in front of Freya’s squad since they had a mixed squad of medium and heavy armor.
Freya waited for nearly five minutes for the other platoons to arrived and get into position then they all marched out together. Freya’s company was the fourteenth company to leave the soccer field. They marched through the streets that had seen better days to a marina where they put their boats into the acidic water. Jagger was the last one to climb onto the boat and he sat in the back by the motor.
Freya was near the front looking out at the thousands of boats in the water that were racing across the river. The Platooe boats were an odd plastic boat that had what looked like a tent on it. The tent part of the boat was to protect the people in the boat for the spray from the acidic waters of the rivers. The tents were like one-way mirrors so the people inside the boats could look out without anyone looking in making them targets.
Jagger gilded them out of the marina. Freya smiled as she felt the boat’s power as Jagger kicked up the speed. She had always like riding in the boats even though most of the boats she had been on had been riverboats. She closed her eyes and pretended that she was on her way to a hunting cabin.
When she opened her eyes she could see the other side of the river. The fighting looked heavy. There was a lot of explosions going off all around the beach that they were landing on. Some of the explosions were hitting some of the boats sending people flying into the acidic waters. She hoped that they were already dead because that would be a horrible way to die. Every once and awhile she could see an artillery shell land on the force field and explode harmlessly.
“When we get to the beach we need to charge as fast as we can towards the shield. Don’t stop for anything. If you fall shoot yourself and respawn. Don’t waste your time waiting for a medic because they won’t be stopping for you. Don’t bother returning fire until you are past the shield which is by the stairs on the other side of the beach. Find yourself someone who is wearing heavy armored once off this boat and hide behind him. If he falls to find someone else fast. If you get past the shield wall try to take out the gunners before you die. Once you respawn don’t wait for us. Get your butts to the rally point and wait there for the rest of the platoon to respawn.” Jagger told them.
Freya watched as the boat got closer and closer to the beach. There were a lot of dead bodies on the ground already and more were falling as she watched. Looking around at all the boats that were left on the beach empty she could tell a lot of the division had already fallen.
“Prepare to disembark!” Jagger yelled out as the boat got close to the beach. Freya looked around at the other boats that were landing and spotted Jesus’s squad just about to land in front of them.
“Go! Go! Go!” Jagger screamed as the boat found an empty spot on the beach and drove up on it. Freya was the first off the boat and she raced off towards Jesus’s boat. She dodged a few medium armed marines as she ran across the beach. She had to jump over a few bodies on the ground as she ran. One of the bodies, she noted, was in the process of shooting himself as she jumped over him. She didn’t look back.
The sound of gunfire was overwhelming and the explosions were going off all around her as she ran up the beach towards where she spotted Jesus and his heavy armor. She had just enough time to spot that he had his skull painted on his armor again as she reached him. He looked at her quickly as she ran up behind him before he turned around again and ran towards the stairs.
“Hi Jesus, just need a meatshield and you happen to look like the best one around.” She yelled at him.
“I aim to please.” He replied and he stomped forward.
Crouching behind him Freya looked for her squad. She spotted Jagger hiding behind a heavy armored marine. Examining the beach she couldn’t see the rest of the squad. She wondered if they were still alive.
Freya was surprised when she nearly tripped on the stairs. She really didn’t think that they would have made it that far before dying. She could hear the snap and crack as bullets raced by. Looking out from behind Jesus she could see marines falling one after another at a fighting rate just at the top of the stairs.
“Use my body for cover when I fall and do some magic,” Jesus yelled out as he crested the top of the stairs. He unloaded with his big machine gun and took a single step forward before he got knocked backward into Freya. She fell with him slinging her gun on top of him as he fell. She guided him down so that he lay on his side with her behind him. Using his arm as a prop she looked towards the enemy.
“Auto sentries.” Freya cursed to herself as she watched the heavily armed robotic machine guns down her fellow marines.
When she was around nine or ten there was a food shortage with the government handouts. This was also at a time when no one could find any elk around the village to hunt. There was an old Canadian military base that had some really good hunting grounds. The problem was that the base was surrounded by Auto sentries.
Freya’s grandfather had taken her out to the edge of the base and showed her the auto sentries. He also showed her a trick to disabling them temporarily. They were self-repairing so destroying them was out of the question but disabling them just long enough to get past them. That was what he showed her.
Smiling she aimed her gun and waited for the auto sentry to turn to the left but to her surprise, it stopped firing. The sound of gunfire slowly stopped as all the other sentries stop firing as well. Freya froze. She checked her HUD map and to her dismay, there were no green dots on her map. There was a lot of black dots though.
Not moving she looked out of the corner of her eyes and didn’t anyone moving. She cursed. “I’m the only one left. What now? Wait until we attack again and take out a sentry gun?” She asked herself as she focused in on the scope again. She zoomed out and spotted another row of sentry guns on the other side of the street by a drainage ditch. Making sure she didn’t move her rifle all that much she zoomed in again looking behind the second row of sentry guns. She didn’t see the third row. She did see the fortified bases behind the second row of sentry guns. In the bunkers, she spotted several soldiers moving around. A wild and crazy plan popped into her head.
“I know how to get past there sentries. They are just like the ones around the hunting grounds. Can I take out the people in the bunkers without them sounding an alarm? What about the other bunkers? Will they see me running through the sentry field?” She asked herself as she found several flaws in her plan.
“Screw it, so what if I die. I can just respawn again.” She thought and smiled behind her face shield. “The guys in the bunkers first. That way if I screw up and die I’ll at least taken them out.”
She carefully aimed at the first shadow in the bunker. “One.” She thought to herself planning out her targets. There were two people in the bunker that she could see. She waited a while watching the bunker but didn’t see anyone else.
“Got to chance it then.” She thought and lined up the shot. Taking a deep breath she let out all the air then pulled the trigger. Her kill count appeared on the top left of her field of vision. Quickly she aimed at the other shadow and pulled the trigger. Once again her kill count rose.
She waited breathlessly for the sentry guns to kill her but nothing happened. She moved her gun very slowly to look at the other bunker to the left. The people inside didn’t look alarmed. They were looking out but no in the direction of the other bunker.
“So far so good.” Freya thought to herself slowly opening Jesus’s backpack. Making sure she only moved her hand that was hidden behind Jesus’s back she blindly searched around until she found a nutrition drink and a canvas sack that they had used to make a sandbag on the last mission. Blindly she put the drink into the sandbag. Taking a deep breath she threw the bag as high as she could to her left.
The auto sentries immediately picked up on the flying canvas sack and fired at it. Once the sentry turned Freya fired. Quickly she turned her gun to the left and found the second sentry gun slowly moving back to face forward. Once it turned enough to present its right side she fired.
Her grandfather had shown her that if you shoot the bottom right-hand corner of the sentry gun it would disable the gun for a count of twenty Mississippi's before it repaired itself. Freya silently counted down as she low crawled towards the middle of the two sentries. It took her four seconds. Once she was roughly halfway between the sentries she stood up and ran.
Cursing in her head over and over she ran towards the middle of the sentry guns. She was convinced that at any second someone from the bunker was going to spot her and shoot. She changed her direction halfway to the sentries and ran for the first auto sentry. She waited for the sentry to the right to turn and fire at her but she was beyond it’s firing arch.
She dove to the ground under the disabled sentry gun at eleven Mississippi's. She hid until she counted to twenty seconds and the sentry gun came back online. It didn’t move though nor did it fire at her. As long as she stayed on the ground this close to the sentry gun it wouldn't ‘see’ her.
Taking a deep breath she slowly raised her rifle to look down the scope. There was no movement in the first bunker but both bunkers to the left and right she could see the barrels of their guns pointing out of the bunkers and moving around. She was never happier than her energy gun was silent that right then.
“Stupid.” Freya sneered at them hiding behind the sentry gun. “You don’t have to stick your gun out of a blind to shoot at something.” She silently told them.
She watched them for the next few minutes as they slowly calmed down. Freya smiled as the barrels of the guns slowly withdrew from the openings of the bunkers. She gave it another few minutes before she crawled on her stomach around the sentry so that she was behind it. Raising up her rifle up again and aiming towards the left sentry in the second row behind the first she lined up her target and fired.
She stood up behind the sentry and raced across to the sentry beside her in the first row. She was behind the sensors of the first row of sentries so they couldn’t see her and the second row was not able to shoot at anything that close to the sentries in the first row. She made it to the other sentry and quickly line up another shot and fired. Taking a quick peek at the people in the bunker she didn’t see any gun barrels so she raced across the killing field between the two rows of auto sentries.
She ran past the sentry guns and right up to the bunker. She only stopped when she was leaning right up against the bunker. Breathing hard she smiled. She slowly stood up and pointed her gun into the bunker ready to shoot anyone inside that was still alive but they were only two people in the bunker and they were both dead from her shots earlier. Smiling she climbed into the bunker.
Looking at the two dead soldiers at her feet she had another crazy idea. Not sure if it was possible she brought up her camo menu. Looking at it she nearly laughed. There was a button that would allow her to copy an enemy uniform. The only problem was she had to do it manually. Shrugging her shoulders she got knelt down beside the dead soldiers to see better and got to work.
A few minutes later she stood up her armor looked just like their uniforms except her helmet which she took off. She left her communications harness on so she could still call for help. She took one of the dead soldier's helmet and place it over her head and smiled.
She climbed out of the back of the bunker and looked around. Behind the street were some buildings that looked empty. The building in front of her looked like a novelty store that sold touristy stuff. She went back inside the bunker and picked up the first body. It was really heavy and Freya once again promised herself more time in the gym as she struggled to take the first body inside the building and hid it. She didn’t want to slide the body because it would leave a trail to where she was hiding the bodies.
Once both bodies were hidden inside the tourist trap she looked around behind the bunker. “If I was a shield generator where would I be?” She asked herself. Then she looked up.
The entrance to the stairs was behind a door behind the store. There was a small parking lot behind the store and she spotted a sign that said ‘Parking for residents only.”
The door was locked but a quick shot from her gun took care of that and she went up the stairs. The door to the roof was locked with an alarm door handle. Not know what to do she used her knife to pop open the push bar on the door. It almost broke her knife. Inside was a bunch of wires. Shrugging she cut them all.
She pushed open the door expecting the alarm to go off but nothing happened. Smiling she stepped on to the roof. In front of her, a few streets behind she tourist trap was a park that was lite up with bright lights that were shining both inside and outside the park. There were a lot of trucks but she didn’t see anything that looked like a shield generator. Not that she knew what a shield generator looked like.
Sighing she reached under her helmet and activated her radio. On her HUD there was a list of channels. She picked the one that said Command. The rest was just numbers and letters. At first, she didn’t know what to say but apparently part of her download in Basic had been how to speak on a radio. She even found out she had a verification code that she needed to say to prove she was who she was.
“Freya O’Malley, recruit: P. one twenty R. nine fifteen T. nineteen calling anyone on this channel.” She said over the radio.
The response was almost immediate. “Recruit you are not authorized to be on this channel.”
Freya blinked not expecting that response. Feeling embarrassed she looked at the rest of the channels and didn’t know which one to pick but the radio crackled to life again.
“O’Malley this is Second Lieutenant Shen. I have your locations but not your feeds. Can you check your connections?” The Lieutenant asked over the radio.
“Sorry sir but I had to switch helmets. My helmet stuck out too much.” Freya replied.
“Hold on we hacking the helmet you have on.” Came the reply. Freya blinked in surprise again. She didn’t know they could do that.
“So how did a recruit end up in my mission?” The Lieutenant asked sounding curious.
“Got invited, sir,” Freya replied.
“Yes, I’m looking up your file now,” he replied. “How did an Earthling get such a good record so fast? I thought you people were all cowards or criminals.” He asked her.
Remembering Jesus’s warning she held her breath not knowing what to say. Before she could formulate a reply the Lieutenant came back on the radio. “We have your feeds now. I need you to give me a slow pan from left to right. Start where you're looking and turn around slowly.”
“Not a coward or a criminal, Sir,” Freya said heatedly as she slowly turned around. “My people have been living on our land well before your people came across the oceans and screwed everything up.”
“My people didn’t cross any oceans. We liked to conquer countries on horses.” The Lieutenant replied. “We almost took all of Asia and Europe before cancer killed our greatest leader.”
Freya came to a stop as she completed turning around in a circle. She was facing the park again.
“Your record says you’re a good trigger puller. I want you to head to this building and find a good firing spot above the fourth floor facing the park. Don’t die before you do.” He told her. A new waypoint appeared on her HUD map.
“Yes, sir,” Freya replied and turned around and headed back down the stairs.
The building the lieutenant wanted her to go to was on the other side of the park. She paused on the stairs to map out her path and headed out of the building. To reach she had several options. The first was to try to bluff her way through the park. She crossed that one out right away as way too risky and stupid.
The next way was to head to the right street a block away and walk down to the road leading up to the building. That one sounded much safer to Freya. The last option Freya considered was just like the second one but on the opposite side of the park. It was a bit riskier and it would take longer. In the end, she decided on the second option.
She turned to her left once she exited from the back of the building and followed the road down a block to the next street then turned right. She saw a few tanks and sitting waiting on the street but no one even looked at her as she walked past them.
“Lieutenant, you seeing this”? Freya asked whispered into her microphone as she tried to walk as if she belonged.
“We are following your feeds, recruit. Please stay off the air unless you have something important to report.” The radio replied. The voice was from the same person who responded when she first called in over the radio and was not the Lieutenant’s voice.
“I made the wrong career choice. I should have become an actor.” Freya though as she passed two soldiers on patrol on the sidewalk. She nodded to them and to her surprise they nodded back.
She turned on the street where the building was on. As she passed several buildings and noted that most of them were hotels. The lobbies were filled with military people. She made sure not to turn her head as she looked into the buildings with the corner of her eye hoping to not meet anyone eyes. She nearly gasped as she saw the building that was marked with the waypoint. It was a hotel like the other buildings but this one was filled with what her download told her were high ranking officers.
She turned right before the building and walked down the street filled with all sorts of trucks. Not knowing what else to do she walked around the building to the back. Seeing a glass door she spotted what her download told her was an enlisted soldier guarding the door. He looked bored. She stopped by the door and looked around. Taking a deep breath because she got another crazy and reckless idea.
“This won’t work.” She thought to herself as she walked up to the door and knocked on it.
The soldier opened the door frowning at her. “What?” He asked. It took her a second for her to understand what he said as the information in her head caught up to what she was hearing.
“You going to let me in?” She asked him trying to match an unenthusiastic tone of voice that she hoped would convey that she really didn’t want to be there.
“Where did you get the gun?” The soldier asked looking at her rifle. “That looks like a feddle gun.”
Cursing mentally she looked over his shoulder and then stood at attention and saluted. The soldier turned spun around coming to attention. Freya pulled her knife out of her armor and jump on the man. She gripped the man's chin like she was taught to in Basic with her left hand pulling his head back and to the side at the same time. Grabbing the knife tightly she stabbed the man in the neck with the sharp edge facing outward. She got as deep as she could go in his neck and sawed outwards.
It worked just like her drill instructor said it would. She pulled the body out of the door and off to the side and almost locked herself out again but luckily she was able to catch the door before it closed. She took the soldiers jacket off and wrapped her rifle up in it looking around to make sure she hadn't been spotted. She wiped down her knife on the dead soldier's shirt then reapplied her camo to her suit. The new camo hid the blood stains that got on her armor before she entered the hotel.
“Holy crap that worked.” She thought to herself as she walked down the short hallway. She spotted a sign that had a stairs icon at the end of the hallway. Smiling she opened the door and ran up the stairs.
She got to the second floor when the fire alarm when off. Frowning she kept going. When she reached the third floor a voice came over the intercom. “Intruder in the building. Intruder in the building. She is dressed in Ealian enlisted uniform carrying a grey uniform jacket that is hiding a Freddie rifle. She is thought to be in the staircase going up.”
Freya cursed and raced up to the fourth floor. She dropped the jacket and brought her rifle up to the ready and using her left hand opened the door. There was a half dress man standing in the hallway with a pistol. He hesitated she didn’t. He dropped and her kill count went up.
She ran to the room he had come from and shot the lock off the door. She kicked the door in and charge into the room. A woman screamed as Freya charge into the room. She aimed her rifle at the woman but didn’t fire as the old looking woman in an old fashioned white nightgown ran out of the room.
Freya went to the window and opened it a bit and looked out. Her radio crackled on. “Recruit we are putting a visual waypoint by the generator. It’s shielded so you’re going to have to shoot it a couple of times.” The voice that was not the lieutenant’s said over the radio.
She spotted the yellow waypoint on her map. She zoomed her map in and saw what looked like a tent. The waypoint was pointing right in the middle of the tent. She looked out the window and spotted the tent with her eyes. In the hallway, she heard a couple of voices. She aimed her sensor cloud behind her. They were too far away to spot yet.
She stepped back and aimed her gun at the tent and fired. The glass window exploded she fired again and again as six red dots appeared on her map. She kept firing at the tent as the men got closer hoping for something to happen like the tent exploding or something like that. Cursing she didn’t turn around as the men entered the room. She pulled the trigger and saw her reflection in the respawn pod’s window.

When Tommy dies, he expects to see Wilbur. Or Schlatt. Hell, even Mexican Dream. After all, that'd mean that there was at least an afterlife in the DreamSMP. What he doesn't expect is to wake up to another world, one that his communicator tells him isn't exactly a server. He can't seem to find any other servers, this one doesn't have a whitelist, and... there's no admin. No Dream. Instead, there are heroes. Heroes, villains, vigilantes, and civilians. There are powers called quirks, and they don't come from hybrid traits--they're natural. There's an entirely different society, one that doesn't have records of discs, mistakes, and the Blood God in its history for its base. There are schools that teach hero-wannabes how to soar to the top, and there are villains capable of flipping the world over its very roots. There were no heroes in his past life. Tommy himself is far from one.Yet maybe, in this life, he can at least try to be there for those who need it.===or; in which Tommy Innit "Theseus" Craft becomes a vigilante, a cafe barista, and then a somewhat-hero, wrecking BnHA canon in the processor, a dsmp x bnha crossover because i'm in love with the idea===(WARNING: this fic will depict lots, and i mean Lots, of sensitive themes, including but not limited to: violence, trauma, suicide themes, etc. due to the dsmp in general as well as how i'm making this realistic as i can. if you are triggered by some of these sensitive topics or what c!tommy goes through, DO NOT READ THIS.
