Ghosts - The collective term for paracausal, hostile inhuman species who enter the world through portals during events known as Outbreaks.

Ghost Hunters - The collective term for anyone fighting back against Ghosts and the paracausal to protect the rest of humanity.

Ghost Hunter Organization - GHO for short, this is the overall name of the governing force of Ghost Hunters. They work with governments and media platforms to ensure nothing about the paracausal gets out to the public.

Night's Conflux - One of the five major guilds of the Ghost Hunter Organization. Responsible for taking care of Ghosts of the Revenant archetype. Teams are called Families.

Ouroboros - The name of the world in this novel. The meaning of it is unknown.

Outbreaks - Occurs when portals to the Paracausal Realm open up, and Ghosts flow out of it into the real world. The portals that open will always be in an isolated location without any life around, but the Ghosts that spawn out of it will search for life to hunt down. This provides Ghost Hunters with an opportunity to get to the scene in time and deal with the Outbreak before the Ghosts run wild.

Phantoms - An archetype of Ghosts that are identified by their ghastly glowing white bodies and signature horrifying Glasgow smiles. Most also have long tentacles that sprout out of their back.

Phantom Slayer Corps - One of the five major guilds of the Ghost Hunter Organization. Responsible for taking care of Ghosts of the Phantom archetype. Teams are called Squadrons.
