《Becoming God of a Dystopian World 》Chapter 283: The Twin Elders

"I will try. But it won't be easy."
Bu Xing said with a respectful tone.
It seemed like the person he was communicating with didn't seem ordinary as even Bu Xing who was on level six 'VI' of bronze rank had to be careful while replying.
"Hmm, you already how much the oldie cares for the First. And since the First has also relayed his interest in this kid to the oldie, so you better not disappoint him."
"I will try my best so that master isn't disappointed with me."
Bu Xing bowed his head lightly after which all the pieces on the game board disintegrated slowly and then vanished altogether.
Only Bu Xing stood there while the voice he was talking to had also left.
Soon the lights of the room dimmed down and Bu Xing also left the room.

On the second floor of the test zone, Zhao Luo stood there with a confused look.
He had suddenly been pulled here and the feeling he got was somewhat similar to getting teleported by the TPC but he couldn't remember seeing a circle there.
Zhao Luo had no idea who the First was or the one Bu Xing was talking to nor the 'oldie' who was brought up during their exchange, he only knew that for now, he was standing in front of two elders who looked at him with wide eyes while striking their white beards that reached their knees.
Both looked so similar to each other than anyone would think of them as twins. One was wearing a crimson robe that looked like a bright sun, while the other had a silver robe that seemed to be giving off the feeling of looking at the moon as Zhao Luo stared at him.
'Why do they both have such long beards?'

Zhao Luo's first thought was on their beard which was exactly the same shape and size.
"We usually don't meddle in the inner disciple's tests, yet we are here. Can you guess why?"
One of the two elders asked Zhao Luo.
The one who talked was the one wearing the crimson robe and funnily the one wearing the silver robe had his eyes closed.
'Is this a test too?'
Zhao Luo wondered while thinking of an answer.
"Is it because you both are too old to do these kinds of stuff?"
He answered them without filtering his thoughts and soon realized what he had done.
Both elders glared at Zhao Luo and he felt a strong pressure falling over him.
Zhao Luo squinted his eyes.
'It's like I'm staring into a sun and a moon at the same time.'
Zhao Luo mumbled while feeling a burning sensation in his eyes.
"Correct."
Both Elders seemed to be in sync as they uttered one simple word that completely switched the situation.
Everything seemed to have returned back to normal and Zhao Luo smiled.
"There are many special cases in the inner hall. Just like the one who had tested you."
'I don't think anyone could be more special than him though.'
Zhao Luo wondered while the two elders spoke together like a broken record. Their voices stacked over one another resounded out in the room Zhao Luo was in, that was on the second floor.
"We were the one who brought him here to test you since little dousan was filled with praises for his friend."
"Who knew that his friend would be an exceptional character?"
Zhao Luo nodded his head as the Elders seemed to be praising him and he couldn't help but agree with their words.

"But the question is, how were you able to win against someone, who could even defeat us in guessing?"
The Elders question had placed Zhao Luo in a tight spot but he looked calmer than ever.
"I have been extremely lucky at games for as long as I can remember. So winning this was nothing for me."
Zhao Luo said with a proud face that screamed his words in front of the elders and they looked impressed by Zhao Luo. But then one of the Elder opened his mouth.
"Then why did you lose four rounds?"
"Keh."
Zhao Luo who was smiling instantly choked on his saliva as he hurriedly thought of his next answer.
"I wanted to know how good that Senior was."
Zhao Luo told them while worrying that the two elders would see through his lies but to his surprise, they turned to each other.
"See. I did tell you that he was a challenger."
"No, that was me. Remember when I told you that he looks like someone who doesn't fear challenges."
Both argued as they had already commented on Zhao Luo while he was playing against Bu Xing.
They turned back to Zhao Luo and this time they didn't even hide the surprise they had towards how impressive he was.
"Everyone else has to prove their strength by battling with a puppet whose strength is the same as a level one of a bronze rank disciple. Once they survive against it for ten minutes or defeat it, they will become an inner disciple. But you don't have to do that."
The elder wearing the crimson robe told Zhao Luo about the test that the other disciples were taking, while the Elder with the silver robe continued.
"How about it? We are letting you pass as a reward and also this..."
The elder brought out a small bag and threw it towards Zhao Luo.
"There are hundred Xin coins inside it."
"Nice right?"
Both Elders took turns saying a line and looked at Zhao Luo with a satisfied look on their faces.
Zhao Luo instantly stored the bag away and looked at the elders.
"Elders, I have a request."
Zhao Luo gave them a palm fist salute as he wanted to ask them something.
"Hmm."
"Go on."
The elders looked intrigued.
"I want to fight the puppet."
Zhao Luo told them as he wanted to test his strength against the puppet.
"Hahaha."
The elder with the silver robe laughed and brought his palm in front of the other Elder.

The Kodoku Game
In Japanese folklore, there once existed an ancient technique among alchemists for harvesting the strongest poison known to man. A poison so vicious, so horrendous, that a single drop could incapacitate an entire nation of humans, several times over. A poison so intense that a single drop could turn the tides of a war on its head. As potent as it appeared however, this poison could be harvested from the blood of a single insect alone- an insect the alchemist’s called the ‘Kodoku’. As lucrative as was attaining this poison however, the problem lied in identifying this insect- its appearance, shape and size changed from region to region and from continent to continent. Sometimes it took the appearance of a ladybug and other times a horned-beetle. In order to determine the identity of this special insect the alchemists came up with an ingenious method. They created an impregnable jar of clay out of the best sandstone they could find and placed hundreds of different insects into the same jar. The jar was made with such great mastery that it allowed no insects to escape and allowed no objects to enter. The laws of nature dictated that the insects would remain together in the jar forever. However, it turned out that as time went on, the insects’ hunger for food and power caused them to turn against each other- one insect ate another until only one remained. This sole insect contained a poison that far surpassed that of all the others and became stronger as it ate more and more insects. The alchemists at this point had succeeded in identifying the Kodoku and could extract it’s poison as long as they continued to feed it regularly. Although this folklore ends here, the actual story does not. One day, as the alchemists cheered in joy of having identified the Kodoku they so eagerly wanted, they forgot to close the lid on the very jar that was considered to be completely impregnable. This small gap was just large enough for the Kodoku inside to crawl out. Famished from not having been fed for weeks, the Kodoku ended up eating the very alchemists that nourished its growth until not even the bones remained. Yet, the Kodoku’s hunger didn’t seem to subside in the slightest. So it traveled to the next village and began eating whatever it could find there. Its poison made it unparalleled in strength and slowly but surely it began to dwindle down the population of the entire city. Yet its hunger only continued to grow. So it traveled to the next city over and ate all it could there. Very soon, the Kodoku couldn’t find any more food to eat. There was no one left to eat and no one left to spectate. So it stood there, by itself pondering what possibly was left to eat that could satiate its hunger. But there was one thing left that Kodoku realized it had never eaten. Itself.
