《Becoming God of a Dystopian World 》Chapter 41: Demon

Zhao Luo had already solved two riddles. That too right after they had appeared that is, in just a moment. He was 20 points already.
It was like he could know the answer while reading the riddle.
Usually, if a riddle was to be given to somebody, they would first read it then understand it and think for a moment to find the answer to the riddle this solving it but for Zhao Luo, it was just a joke.
Seeing Zhao Luo solve two of his riddles so easily left the Second Elder in a shock. But he calmed down soon enough.
'What a young talent, he can succeed my name.'
Second Elder thought while looking at the confident-looking Zhao Luo.
'What are these second-grade riddles? Don't tell me the old man made them personally.'
Zhao Luo thought.
The Second Elder didn't read Zhao Luo's thoughts this time as he was busy in his thoughts regarding Zhao Luo's talent in solving riddles, otherwise, he would have smacked Zhao Luo.
'Hmm.'
Zhao Luo looked at the paper as another riddle appeared on it.
"Riddle: Why do Lions eat raw meat?"
Zhao Luo looked read the riddle.
'This could be a problem.'
He thought while making a frustrated face. He had only answered two of the toddler correctly but now he was already feeling the fear of getting a wrong answer for this third one.
'It could be a simple answer like the lion doesn't know how to cook.'
Zhao Luo thought as him all the riddles were a mix of words just to hide a simple answer.
'But what if?'
He questioned himself as he looked at the Second Elder.
'Grin.'
The Second Elder was grinning as even though the guy in front of him was good at solving riddles he can't be invincible.
"Show me what you got."
Second Elder said to Zhao Luo in a challenging tone.
After seeing the grin on the Second Elder's face, Zhao Luo gave it more thought.
'What if I already know the right answer and this is just a way to disrupt my mind?'
Zhao Luo questioned himself again as to how could such an easy riddle appear here.
This was the Sect's entrance test which on clearing would award them points that would help them in their training.
But what were these riddle that he had to answer?
It had already been 2 minutes since Zhao Luo had started solving the riddles. He solved the first two riddles instantly but the third riddle was a mountain of confusion for him.

In the end, he went with his initial answer.
"The lion doesn't know how to - it doesn't know how to COOK."
Zhao Luo finally told the Second Elder of his answer to the third riddle.
"What if the Lion is a Sand Lion?"
Second Elder didn't tell Zhao Luo if his answer was correct or not instead he replied to his answer with a question.
'What if it's a sand lion?'
Zhao Luo wondered for a moment but then he looked decisively at the Second Elder.
"It will also eat raw meat as it will also be unaware of how to cook it."
Zhao Luo told the Second Elder.
"Good, good, you are doing amazingly good."
Second Elder looked quite happy after hearing Zhao Luo's answer.
'I added this to fool the examinees but he was able to see through it even though he took some time. Not bad.'
Second elder thought while observing Zhao Luo with a smile on his face.
"You have solved three riddles, each worth 10 points. So you are already at 30 points."
The second elder told Zhao Luo.
He didn't know he would have this much fun while leading the exam otherwise he would have been the examiner of every exam.
Half the time of the second test had already passed.
With two and a half minutes remaining Zhao Luo looked forward to solving his 4th riddle.
Till now he had it easy as none of the riddles were challenging for him.
'Let's focus.'
Zhao Luo thought as his third fiddle disappeared and in its place, a new riddle appeared.
"Riddle: The more you take, the more will you leave behind."
Zhao Luo read the riddle from the paper.
'Hmmm.'
He wondered what the answer could be.
Zhao Luo didn't notice that he was smiling while reading the riddle. He was also enjoying the riddles.
He looked at the old man who was the brains behind these riddles and saw that the second elder was lost in his thoughts as he wasn't focusing on him.
'This riddle. The past me who wandered without stopping. When the new Era hadn't started when the world wasn't like this.'
The second elder remembered his past.
He had made this riddle while looking back on the road he had traveled on.
Soon he came out of his thoughts and looked at Zhao Luo who was smiling at the riddle.
'Looks like the young man is enjoying it.'

The second elder thought while looking at Zhao Luo.
'Hmmm.'
Second Elder wondered as information entered his mind.
All the riddle papers were at the end connected to him so as someone would solve the riddle he would know and he would also know the number of tries one used while answering the riddle.
What made him wonder was because of the paper of Su Shi.
Even Su Shi who had cleared her 3rd riddle and was already at her 4th one. Even though she had used eight tries to solve three riddles but it was still an amazing feat.
'Two geniuses in one exam. Interesting. Very interesting.'
The second elder rubbed his beard while thinking about Zhao Luo and Su Shi.
"Footsteps. The more footsteps I take, the more footsteps will I leave behind."
Zhao Luo solved yet another riddle.
He knew that he was right even before the second elder told him the result.
"Hahaha. Young man, I haven't been this excited in years. You are correct. Again."
The second elder replied telling Zhao Luo of the results.
Zhao Luo had already accumulated 40 points till now.
After that as soon as the riddle would appear in front of him, he would answer it and look at the Second Elder who would admit that Zhao Luo gave the right answer.
"A house."
"Spider."
"Man."
Zhao Luo kept on firing answers right after seeing the riddles.
Till now all of the riddles were worth 10 points except the last one which was for 20 points.
"Riddle 07: What walks on four legs in the morning, two in the afternoon, and three at night?"
This was the riddle that was worth 20 points showing its difficulty but Zhao Luo had solved this one in an instant too.
"You have acquired 80 points, young man."
The second elder said. He wasn't feeling excited anymore as his excitement had already changed to something else.
Zhao Luo's riddle-solving speed was so intense and without any mistakes that the second elder couldn't even compare himself to Zhao Luo.
'He is a demon.'
The Second Elder thought as he started sweating. The reason behind this wasn't because Zhao Luo was good at solving the riddles.
Rather it was because Zhao Luo already had a lot of points.
If Zhao Luo's points were below the 50 marks then it wouldn't have been that big of a problem.
But someone who would just be joining the sect having 70 points and this wasn't the end as one minute was still left, could cause some questions for even him.
Others wouldn't believe that such a genius exists who could solve the riddles from the 'Master of Riddles' himself this easily.
They would blame the second elder for showing favoritism.
Plus he had also brought Zhao Luo to the top floor so this could get problematic for both of them.
As the last minute was left, another riddle appeared on Zhao Luo's paper but before he could read it, the second elder waved his hand.
As if the riddle 'glitched' while appearing on the paper, it just vanished suddenly.
This confused Zhao Luo who then looked at the second elder for some explanation.
"Elder, the riddle just disappeared before I could even read it."
Zhao Luo complained as because of this, he was missing the free points that he could get.
The elder looked at Zhao Luo as if he was confused and couldn't understand what Zhao Luo was saying.
"What do you mean?"
The second elder said acting like he didn't hear Zhao Luo the first time.
"I mean how could the riddle just vanish before I could even answer it."
Zhao Luo told the second elder again.
'It even looked short one.'
Zhao Luo thought while feeling a little depressed as he was enjoying so much.
He looked down and saw that the riddle was still on the paper.
This shocked him so he looked up at the second elder.
"This."
Zhao Luo said.
The second elder just shrugged acting like he didn't know what Zhao Luo was talking about.
This all happened when the 8th riddle appeared on Zhao Luo's paper.
It was an easy one so the elder knew that Zhao Luo would answer it right after looking at it so he switched it with a hard one and changed its points.
Even though it was one of the most difficult riddles in his collection which was worth 50 points, he changed the points to 5.
"This one."
Zhao Luo said while looking at the riddle.
'I can swear that it didn't look this long before. Hmmm.'
Zhao Luo thought as the riddle looked more than what he had seen a few moments ago.
'If he solves this one too then he must have been a nemesis of riddles in his par life.'
The second elder thought as only 30 seconds were left before the test would end.

Star God
An ancient, ageless entity of magic intertwines with the essence of a tribal hero and a god is born. In a land where the worship of any entity is banned and punishable by mass-execution, the young and idealistic deity must come to terms with the ugliness of humanity, and find a way for his flock to survive, and maybe even thrive. A young man born into a mountain tribe treads the path of a hero, but he must learn the extent to which he would go to keep his people and their fledgling god safe and happy. Enemies are everywhere, and to defend their way of life, they must learn to harness the power of magic. Others are ahead of them in this regard, so they must act fast if they are to survive. A Xianxia-esque magic system, but with a focus on Western-style spellcasting and mysticism. This is more or less a deconstruction of classical fantasy and pantheons. The Granddaughter of Time
Teresa Hargrove was okay with giving up. She knew the Earth was doomed and there was nothing to be done about it. What she was not okay with was the Future, an enigmatic woman nearly fanatical in her devotion to making a difference, dragging her along — seemingly, to prove her wrong. It turns out though that the Future is very hard to understand. This story contains heavy themes, including mental illness, existential crisis and death. However, I still tried to eventually convey a message of hope. Several mythical and metaphorical beings in the shape of humans will appear in most chapters. However, they are not meant to be of a specific ethnicity or social background and are instead perceived differently by people around them. For your reading pleasure, feel free to imagine them any way you’d like, even if your imagination contradicts descriptions from the story. Enjoy!~
