The girl who entered the clearing with her bow nodded politely at nick who responded appropriately before the knight started the bout. the girl knocked an arrow before quickly firing it at nick who nodded at her skill with the weapon before catching the arrow which made everyone including the girls jaws drop in astonishment. nick tossed the arrow to the side casually before walking slowly towards the girl. arrow after arrow flew towards nick and each one was caught before being tossed aside while the girl circled the clearing in order to maintain her distance. soon the girl reached for an arrow from her quiver and felt none , it was in this moment she realized that nick simply was the worst possible opponent she could go against . seeing the girl out of arrows nick shot towards her like a viper striking before punching her in the gut sending her into the crowd who caught her unconscious body. the knight announced nicks victory before the young man stepped forward confidently which confused nick. the young man drew a short sword before nick picked up on what made the young man so confident despite the fact that nick had dominated all his previous opponents and what he found surprised him greatly.
According to what nicks senses told him the young man had entered the body refinement tier of cultivation and had even reached the third level of it all without any knowledge of what he was doing. the reason nick knew that the young man had no clue what he was doing is because of the way the qi fluctuated unsteadily around his body which would only occur if a cultivator was not using a technique. simply the fact that this young man was standing before nick was a testament to how talented he was since to cultivate without a technique was to gamble with death itself if you didn't posses a good amount of talent. nick smiled at the young man "find me after this event and I'll show you the correct way to use it." he said before dashing towards the young man who was taken back by what nick said and so didn't react in time when nick dashed towards him allowing nick to get past his striking area. nick layered some neutral qi into his hands and began jabbing the young man in each place that wasn't strengthened correctly.

This caused the young man immense agony as nick was forcefully changing his body against his will as well as moving qi through him at a greater rate than his body was used to. to the crowd it looked like nick was viciously torturing the young man who was screaming while nick struck him in various places on his body. nick paused for a moment to focus a large amount of qi unto his palm before slamming it into the young mans c.h.e.s.t directly into the center of energy of the young man which pulsed it throughout his pathways solidifying the changes nick made. the young man immediately passed out once the pain ended and nick was declared the winner , though not without being scolded by the knight for being so vicious with his opponent , not that nick planned on saying what he actually did.

Fragments of Glass
before the 1939-1945 War, most churches in England had stained glass windows, but despite local people's best efforts many of these windows were smashed in the bombing. What could be repaired was repaired, but in many churches all they could do was reassemble the remaining fragments randomly, with extra bits of clear glass added to eke them out to fill the windows. That is what I imagined for my collection of short stories: fragments of stained glass, bits of robe, bits of faces, all sorts of odds and ends randomly stuck together. And with quite a lot of clear fragments among the coloured ones. Just broken pieces of stories that anyone can look through.
