"None of this matters anyway , the fact remains that you gave us recipes we can't use." the clan leader said seriously. nick nodded "that is true but do you know why i did that?" nick asked the clan leader who frowned at the question. "because you thought you could get away with it." he said matter of factly. nick shook his head "nope guess again." he said calmly. the clan leader was confused so nick spoke again "no offense but you really aren't that bright , the reason i gave you those recipes was because you insulted me with your first demand." nick said coldly. "you all demanded the method for body cultivation in exchange for the opportunity to enter an inheritance realm , that's like asking for the entire world in exchange for a grain of sand!" nick spat angrily. the clan leader was speechless since what nick said was completely understandable after all the two side weren't even close to being equal. "i might not like what you did but i understand why you did it , however you still need to give something equal to that realm otherwise we will be between a rock and a hard place."
Nick nodded "i already knew that before i even came to this place i was going to be discovered eventually so i already had something in place for however this conversation went both good and ill." nick said with confidence. the clan leader grew cold when he heard nick "what did you do?" he asked worried. nick chuckled "nothing you need to worry about so long as no one related to the welk clan does anything that could be construed as an attack." nick said coldly his threat obvious. the clan leader sighed in relief "so long as that's the case its not a problem , well what were you going to give to enter the inheritance since you said you prepared for good as well." he asked seriously. nick grinned "bring me that apprentice and I'll impart to them the method i use however i will also brand his soul so that if anyone attempts to learn it from them or watch them use it they will die from having their soul shatter." nick said calmly. both the clan leader and elder yan both shivered at the extreme punishment nick would use.

It should be known that dying would still allow one to be reborn however if ones soul was shattered that's it no second chance no rebirth just absolute finality. "will they be harmed otherwise?" the clan leader asked cautiously. nick shook his head "of course not since they are innocent no pain will befall them." he said seriously. the clan leader sighed in relief "i can accept these terms but i can't understand why you would do this since the apprentice would only need it for those two recipes." he said confused. "simply put i know that eventually your clan might have something worth me trading my recipes for plus if you train that apprentice well enough they will be able to create pills the likes of which will stun you speechless." nick said honestly. the clan leader nodded before telling elder yan to bring that apprentice which she did with a depressed expression since she actually wanted to learn that method.

Wolf's Oath Book 1: Oath Sworn
In Aralt ‘Wolf” syr Tremayne’s world, skyships sail above tidal extremes, crystal swords are Tuned, and the soul-touched inspire both awe and fear. The latter doesn’t phase him, he carries a Tuned blade, and as for the ships…Aralt prefers to keep his feet on solid ground. Having finally laid to rest the ghosts of his past, he is unprepared when the grave gives one of them back. To his shame, it isn’t the one he wants. Lian Kynsei’s arrival upends Aralt’s life, but there is nothing he can do about it. Oath-bound to Lian, the last of a priestly clan, he is now defender of the scion of a faith he no longer shares. But the boy Aralt once knew is gone. In his place is a reckless, traumatized teen who can light the sky on fire. The more they get reacquainted, the less Aralt likes him—and the feeling is mutual. As revenge against a common enemy boils in his blood, Aralt struggles to do his oath-sworn duty and secure sanctuary for the heir-apparent to a mystical dynasty. But instead of safety, every step brings them closer to danger: sky pirates, cannibals, and a relentless soulless scourge unleashed by their enemy are all intent on killing Lian—or worse. Death, Aralt realizes, might be the greater mercy. ---------------------------------------------------------- What to Expect: Character-driven Plot Novel Pacing (which I accept isn't typical for serials) Elaborate Worldbuilding (you gotta pay attention) Soul-bonded Swords Sentient Wolves Longish Chapters What Not to Expect: Litrpg (sorry!) Harem (not sorry!) Magic System Short Chapters Dancing Bears (at least so far) Seriously, this is a second-world low fantasy/science-fantasy featuring a strong, but flawed male protagonist, a cheeky teenage boy that’s driving him crazy, a wee bit o’ Scots flavor, and a whole lot of culture clashing. I’m preparing to relaunch this story on Kindle once the second and third books are ready and I’d love some feedback as I move through those revisions. I'm serious about the feedback. All comments are welcome. I'll name a characters after you. And kill them, if you want. :) Oh, did I mention soulless assassins and cannibals? Yeah, Aralt’s day is not getting any better. cover image by brosedesignz
