thankfully the defensive array prevented any damage to the wall , though the same couldn't be said of jakob who was looking dazed on the ground. "you alright over there?" nick asked with a chuckle. jakob focused his attention on nick and glared at him. "f.u.c.k.i.n.g peachy!" jakob yelled back angrily. 'yeah he's fine ' nick though to himself. nick walked over to jakob and grabbed him by the arm and hoisted him onto his feet. "so was the pain worth it ?" nick asked jakob who winced at the memory. "let me check." jakob said before spontaneously punching nick in the face sending him stumbling back several feet. jakob himself had sent himself flying again but managed to land with his feet sliding into the ground before he stopped. looking back at nick jakob grinned when he saw blood briefly fall from nicks nose before it stopped. "yup I'd say it was worth it." jakob said with a grin. nick sighed "i suppose i deserved that." nick said calmly. "of course you did you crazy bastard , that was a dirty trick giving me those pills without telling me what they do!"jakob yelled out in anger.
nick shrugged "had to be done you broke too easily." he said calmly. jakob looked livid " of course i would break easily against a monster like you!" jakob said angrily while getting used to the change his body went through. nick nodded his head "precisely the reason it had to be done i want you to be just as much of a monster after all its such a pain to have a friend i need to be careful around in order to not accidentally harm them." nick was venting his grievance about the situation. jakob was stunned at nicks words since it had never occurred to him that nick suppressed himself for his sake. "why didn't you say anything before now?" jakob asked much more calmly now. nick sighed "do you have any idea how hard it is to bring up something like that? what am i supposed to mention it over lunch ? oh hey these sandwiches are great also could you stop being so weak so i can relax around you? f.u.c.k no i couldn't just bring it up!" nick yelled in frustration.

nick calmed himself in the silence that followed. "look I'm sorry about that just now but i had to get that off my c.h.e.s.t." nick apologized. jakob sighed "no this is partially my fault since i didn't even notice how hard it must have been for you." he said guiltily. nick shook his head "my situation is unique no matter how you look at it so it only makes sense that some things fall through the cracks." he said sadly. jakob flexes after having finally gotten used to his new strength "well since i need to get a massive boost in strength to reach your level lets dispense with the sappy stuff and try to kill each other again." he says while taking his stance. nick held up a finger "hold that thought for a moment." he said before turning to the goddess. "so could you wait till we are done here before taking those pills since if you aren't able to save him i might actually kill jakob otherwise." he said nicely.

The world, under the guide of the System, was prospering. The Dungeons gifted untold riches to those brave enough to challenge them, and the System watched and helped those who were willing to complete its Quests. But not Charles. As soon as he appeared inside a dark cave, the system told him that he was an anomaly, that he was not worthy of its gifts. His mind was damaged. His AI companion was convinced that he was in a world of sword and magic. All around, schemers and manipulators tried to play their part in a story that was thousands of years old. Spanning entire planes and worlds. And yet, he only saw what he wanted to see. For a while, it worked. Slowly, but inevitably, it became impossible. The threat was too big to ignore, the evidence too strong. He was just a pawn in a game so large that it was impossible to comprehend. At its center, the System. The System was not what it seemed. Fermboi was a man of one ideal: make the weak strong. When his rebellion against the king proved futile, he was given another chance at life. This time, he sought to do nothing after realizing the hopelessness of it all. Aventina wanted to do nothing more than to follow her father’s footsteps. On a retaliation raid against her tribe’s enemies, her brothers perished. Spared by a leader of her enemies, she returned home to find herself the chief of her tribe. Bolahulag, half-civilized and half-barbarian, half-lowborn and half-royal. Raised in his mother’s civilized tent in a sea of barbaric shelters, Bolahulag was hesitant to follow his paternal way of life. After a battle between a civilized king and his father, Bolahulag was sent as hostage to learn the economy and military of the nation his father defeated. Derai knew nothing more than being an orphan, but when a merchant took her in, the world she thought impossible soon became a reality. Monghe, stuck in a school exemplifying strength for most of his life, began to understand what he needed to do in order to be strong instead of weak. Story is mostly about nothing. Fermboi does most of the nothing. Aventina does most of the military things. Bolahulag does a balance of economy and military. Derai focuses on economy. Monghe spitfires what it means to be a typical hero. Hopefully this is enough to give a general idea to people who don’t like going blind aside from the work being purportedly “good.” Who am I kidding, my writing is terrible. I hope it improves though.
