《Code Of The Heart》Chapter 5:Moonlian's Struggles

It was foggy and through the murk, a monstrous black gargantuan two-headed creature showed up. It was like a serpent which had a pair of wings. The creature was completely covered with tough, shiny scales and it's eyes were glowing in the dark. It was magnificently beautiful. It approached her and when she went near it, in an instant, it entered inside her body.
She got distracted from her sleep and suddenly woke up. It was obvious that she was sweating as she was feared to death. Mei who sat near her bed was happy to see her in a conscious state.
"Moonlian, you finally woke up! Gosh! You have been suffering from fever the whole night," rubbing her hair Mei tiredly said.
" What happened yesterday? How you got soaked in the rain?" Mei caressed her cheeks.
Moonlian coughed and seeked for water.
"Take! Have some water and tell me slowly!"
Mei handed over a glass of water to Moonlian.
Before she could speak, tears flowed through her eyes then she tightly hugged Mei and bursted out. She told everything about yesterday's incident.
"Bastard! How dare he say that? I'm gonna kick his ass," hollered Mei.
" Calm down, Mei. It's not his fault. I should have talked more sincerely." said Moonlian in a calm voice.
"Hey! It's not your fault at all, okay? That guy, I see, he is too full of himself. Let me meet him, I will teach him a good lesson." Mei spatted in anger.
Seeing Mei being furious, Moonlian couldn't help but only laugh.
"Okay! That's too much for today! Now, you go to your room and take some rest." chuckled Moonlian.
Mei got up and went to her room.
After locking her door, she felt some kind of unusualness regarding her dream. She was expecting it to be the Ancient Chinese Purported Beast. If it is so, then why it occurred on her dream? Do they have any connections?

Meanwhile in The Angelo House, Jianyu and other staffs were waiting for Delun's Editor to show up. Everyone assumed her to be Moonlian but their assumptions were wrong. A girl in her late twenties appeared along with Delun which made everyone shocked. Her name was Yenay and she greeted everyone and introduced herself as the new Editor of Delun. In the middle of this, Jianyu personally called Delun outside.
"Have you gone crazy? Who is she? Why did you hire her?" Jianyu gawked him.
"First of all, it's my office and I am the boss. So, you cannot question the decision I make. Secondly, I am the one who is in need of an Editor so I appointed the one whom I can rely on!" arrogantly replied Delun.
Hearing this, Jianyu twitched his lips.
"If you don't have anything to say then I won't waste my time on you!" Delun ignored him and went inside.
"You jerk! Come back, how dare you ignore me!" shouted Jianyu.
"Can't believe this jerk rejected Moonlian and chose Yenay over her." Jianyu mumbled.
"Hey, do you know her address?" asked Jianyu. "Whose? Moonlian?" Yan questioned in puzzled tone.
"No, I am asking my dog's address!" hilariously replied Jianyu.
"As long as I remember, she lives in Jiande City. It will take maximum 2 hours to reach there."
"Tell Peizhi to cancel all my meetings for today. I am leaving for Jiande." hurriedly said Jianyu.
"Okay, sir!" replied Yan.
After he reached Jiande city, he dropped by a Flower Shop near a street and asked for Bouquet Of Hot Pink Roses. He paid for it then he asked an old woman who was walking by the street about Moonlian's house. She replied sweetly, "Go straight and turn left, the house in the corner of Cherry Blossom Tree is Moonlian's house." Jianyu thanked her and hurried to meet Moonlian.

When Jianyu rang the bell, Mei was the one to open the door.
"Hello, I am Director Jianyu from the Angelo House. Is Miss Moonlian home?" he politely asked.
"So, what are you here for? To insult her again?" she glared him.
"No, Miss. You got me wrong. I am here to...."
Before he could continue, Mei interrupted.
"Stop please! What do you guys think about yourself, huh? You capitalist brats! You know what? The people like you have the same problem, first they think they can insult anyone they like and after that, they come here to resolve the issue. How shameless!"
"I respect you but that doesn't mean you'll blabber anything you like. I'm here to talk with Moonlian so just let me in." He tried to came inside.
"No, people like you're not allowed to enter." She blocked the door with her hands, not letting him to enter.
"Just get lost before I call the cops." She curled up her lips. Then, she banged the door.
"Please! It's urgent. We can talk calmly as well." He knocked the door.
After some minutes, Mei slowly opened the door. "We'll talk but outside the house."
She locked the door and went near the Cherry Blossom Tree, while Jianyu followed her.
There was silence for a while, when Jianyu spoke, "Moonlian was our favourite among all the candidates and we really wished her to be Delun's Editor but I wonder why he rejected her." "Don't you know anything or Are you pretending to not know?" asked Mei apatheticly.
He was clueless when she asked that.
"Anyways, I'm Mei, Moonlian's best friend and her only parent. We're orphans and we grew up together in the Orphanage. Let me say, we are our each other's strength." she introduced herself.
"I'm sorry for what happened but may I know what Delun did?" asked Jianyu.
Mei told how he humiliated Moonlian.
"That crazy jerk." murmured Jianyu.
Mei sighed and said, "Since her childhood, Moonlian has always enjoyed reading Delun's novels. She loved his work and admired him a lot. Moonlian used to tell me that one day she would work with Delun. At that time, I thought she just said it but who knew she meant it too. As we grew up we decided to live on our own. To become a qualified Editor, Moonlian studied in a renowned University so that she could achieve her childhood dream. She didn't want to trouble me so she used to do part-time jobs in different places in order to pay her expensive fees and rent of the house. She struggled a lot but that bastard doesn't deserve her. So, I request you to leave her alone. I know you are a good person and you care for Moonlian but I don't want her to suffer. I hope you understand," said Mei.
Jianyu understood and bid farewell to Mei. But not to mention, he was furious towards Delun. He turned behind and looked at her. Mei smiled and waved him, he also waved her back and the smile on her face made him remember of someone from his past.

Delve
Summary – Level 1: Delve is an isekai litrpg that follows an average guy who just happened to wake up in a forest one day. He wasn’t summoned to defeat the demon lord or to save the world or anything like that, at least as far as he can tell. The only creature there to greet him was a regular old squirrel. Soon enough, he meets other people, only to discover that he can’t speak the language, and that not everybody immediately trusts random pajama-wearing strangers they met in the middle of the wilderness. Things generally go downhill from there, at least until the blue boxes start appearing. Delve is a story about finding your way in a new, strange, and dangerous world. It’s about avoiding death, figuring out what the heck is going on, and trying to make some friends along the way. It’s not about getting home, so much as finding a new one. Did I mention that there will be math? Summary – Level 2: Okay, but what are you in for, really? Well, this story is supposed to be realistic, or at least, as realistic as a fantasy litrpg can be. The main character doesn’t instantly become an all-powerful god and murder-hobo his way across the universe. Delve is, at its heart, a progression fantasy, but that progression is meant to feel earned. The numbers in this story actually mean something. Everything is calculated, and if you find a rounding error, I expect you to tell me about it. That said, if math isn’t your cup of tea, there is plenty more that the story has to offer. Characters are meant to feel real, and progression isn’t only about personal power; it’s also about allies, connections, and above all, knowledge. Figuring out how the system works is a significant theme. ... What, you want more details? Okay, fine, but this is going to get a bit spoiler-y. Are you sure? Yes! Really sure? I mean, this summary is practically half as long as the first chap– Now! Okay, okay! The main character becomes a magic user, but he takes a route that is not very popular in adventurer culture, namely that of a support. There is a full magic system with various spells, skills, and abilities, but our MC decides that aura magic is the way to go, and that the only stat worth investing in is mana regeneration. Most people at the Adventurer’s Guild think that this makes him a bit of a dumbass, but he’s playing the long game. We’ll see how that works out for him, won’t we? Because of his build, the MC levels up fast, at least compared to normal people. There are no cheats, though, and he is limited in other ways. There are some clear and pretty obvious downsides to his build. That’s what makes it fun, no? Morals? Our MC has them. Again, we’ll see how that works out for him. Realism, remember? Would you be okay with killing someone and looting their body? I sure hope not. POV? The focus is on the main character, but there will be occasional varying perspectives from people around him, or involved in the events related to the main plot. It isn’t going to jump all over the place. Tech is standard medieval stasis. No smartphones, but the MC does have a technical background. Computers and their programming might be involved. There might even be a bit of uplifting down the road, who knows? Anyway, it isn’t the focus. He isn’t going to invent the gun in chapter 1 and change the face of warfare. Romance is not a major focus. Friendships are more the name of the game, though there will be some characters in romantic relationships. There is exploration, though not as much of the geographical nature as you might expect. It is more about exploration of the system and the culture. The pace is slow and detailed, sometimes verging on slice-of-life. The action is meant to be realistic and grounded in the numbers, and it is intended to have meaning beyond simply punching things until they stop moving. The general tone of the story is grey, and some parts can get quite dark. People die. Sometimes, people with names, but not anywhere near GoT level. There is plenty of light, too, though, to balance the darkness. The world is dangerous, but overcoming that danger is why we’re all here, isn’t it? Anyway, if you’ve made it this far through the summary, you clearly like words. I hope you enjoy the story! Cover by Miha Brumec Summary Updated: 2020-06-14
